Day 1 - Arrival
- Arrive in the country and check into the hospital.
- Meet with the surgical team and discuss the procedure.
- Get a physical exam and blood tests.
Day 2 - Pre-Operation
- Meet with a physical therapist to discuss post-op rehabilitation.
- Undergo any additional tests as advised by your surgeon.
Day 3 - Surgery
- The operation takes approximately 3-4 hours.
- General anesthesia will be used for the procedure.
- The surgeon will make incisions to access the tibia.
- A corrective osteotomy will be performed and fixed with plates.
Day 4-7 - Post-Operation
- Stay in the hospital for observation and pain management.
- Start physical therapy as soon as possible.
- Learn how to use crutches or a knee brace.
Week 1-2 - Rehabilitation
- Continue physical therapy to regain strength and mobility.
- Gradually increase weight-bearing activities as directed by your therapist.
Week 3-6 - Rehabilitation
- Return to light daily activities as tolerated.
- Continue physical therapy to achieve full range of motion.
Week 7-12 - Rehabilitation
- Resume work, depending on the nature of your job.
- Gradually return to sports and other activities.
Week 12 and beyond - Final Result
- Most patients see the final result by this time.
