I’m feeling better than expected this early on

My main worries before the procedure were the recovery process and the final look of the scars. My surgeon was very direct about both, clearly explaining the realistic results, the swelling timeline, and exactly where the incisions for my full neck lift would be placed behind the ears. This honesty was appreciated. The procedure was done under general anesthesia, and I’m feeling better than expected this early on. The clinic’s support has been solid; they gave me a clear aftercare guide and have been easy to reach with questions. It was also a relief that there were no additional expenses on top of the quoted price.

The second doctor I saw was great, he made sure I was fine and I felt welcomed by him

If you're considering strabismus surgery, here is what my experience was like. I have to be honest, the start wasn't ideal. The first doctor I saw was not the best one; he didn’t make me feel welcomed. But the second doctor I saw was great, he made sure I was fine and I felt welcomed by him. He showed me eye movement tests before we decided on the surgery and clearly explained the realistic alignment expectations, which for me involved adjusting one muscle on a single eye. Throughout the rest of the process, I felt I was treated very well, made sure to understand things that’s were going on. It’s still very early, so it’s too early to tell about the final result, but the care from my surgeon and the staff was good.

Staffs are beyond awesome

My main worry before travelling was the potential language barrier. It was a bit of a challenge, as more widespread "English speaking could make communication easy," but the coordinator was great and we managed. The clinic itself was impeccable. I can honestly say the "Staffs are beyond awesome. Clinic is super cleaned." I had PRK surface laser surgery on both eyes, and it was reassuring that the surgeon personally performed the procedure. The aftercare guide provided was very clear, though there has been little contact since. For future patients: definitely bring a pair of sunglasses and download a translation app. Doing your own research on the procedure will also help you understand what's involved.

I was so impressed by the results

If you're considering this, here is my honest take on the experience so far. My surgeon did excellent work on my extended tummy tuck with lipo and muscle repair; he was present during recovery checks and clearly explained the scar placement. I’m feeling better than expected early on. The financial aspect was a major factor. If I had the same procedure done in the US, I would have spent close to $20k. I spent a fraction of that in Istanbul and I was so impressed by the results. All transfers were provided and there were no additional expenses. However, be aware that some staff speak little English, and I frequently smelled cigarette smoke in the corridor. I also had to do my own online research for post-op directions. My coordinating physician did reach out while I was in the hospital and back at the hotel. My advice: only travel alone if you are very strong emotionally and physically, as it was a challenging experience. It felt like another c-section! Pack a good hospital bag with a phone charger and universal adaptor, toiletries, books, and a neck pillow. Photo of me is my Before. I'm one week in recovery, so no After photo yet.

My surgeon did excellent work and the nursing staff kept close post-op care of me. I appreciated all of the provided transfers to and from the airport and between the clinic and my hotel. The whole experience from start to finish was a great value for the price. If I had the same procedure done in the US (tummy tuck, abdominal muscle repair, and lipo), I have spent close to $20k. I spent a fraction of that in Istanbul and I was so impressed by the results one week after surgery.

Please be aware that some of the medical staff do not speak much or any English, so they provide support rather silently. Turkish people are also fairly serious, so while efficient and thorough, I was not coddled or babied. Also, there's also smoking allowed in the nurses' lounge or illegal smoking in the stairwell because I frequently smelled smoke in the corridor outside my recovery room while completing my post-op walking. Lastly, I would recommend the clinical staff provide more post-op directions for safe and expedient recovery. Everything I've learned was from my own online research.

I was most impressed by the respect and kindness I received throughout this process. It made a significant difference. My surgeon, Dr. Burğa, is exactly what a patient could wish for in a doctor: honest, helpful, friendly, and very knowledgeable. He was upfront about recovery and took the time to show me the malleable implant and explain the sizing options before the procedure. The booking with Bookimed was a good choice; they take care of everything. While communication could sometimes be a bit difficult because of the translation, it was always possible to ask again for clarity. I also appreciated that there were no additional expenses on top of what was agreed. I am still in early recovery but feel very well looked after.

I had an amazing experience with Dr. Park and the entire team! From start to finish, everyone—especially Joanne—was incredibly accommodating and attentive, which made me feel safe and well cared for. Dr. Park did an incredible job on my breast augmentation. Remarkably, after just one day of recovery, I was able to walk around Seoul, use public transport, and see all the sights I wanted to visit. Although it was slightly uncomfortable at times, I never experienced significant pain beyond the first few hours after waking from anesthesia. I truly believe this speaks to Dr. Park’s precision—and maybe a little to my own fast healing! The clinic goes above and beyond for their patients. I received IV therapy, red light therapy, and hyperbaric oxygen therapy, all of which made me feel well supported throughout recovery. Dr. Park and the team checked in consistently, which is such a green flag—so different from many experiences in the U.S., where doctors often focus solely on the surgery itself. The doctor was meticulous, injecting carefully and slowly while checking for symmetry. It is too early to tell the final result. One thing to be aware of is the language dynamic. "Most of the staff was bilingual; however, the doctor was not so this required nursing staff translation. I would have been more comfortable if the doctor answered my questions directly versus using a translator. This was just a preference. It did not minimize the excellent treatment that was provided. I definitely plan to return for services and will be prepared by learning conversational Spanish." A key tip: understand prices are per syringe, so the final cost is determined on-site. I had no additional expenses. Paying with cash is cheaper, but not all local ATMs dispense US dollars.

What stood out was the surgeon's personal attention. He personally checked on me after surgery. Beforehand, Dr. Yaman explained his deep plane technique very clearly for my facelift, which also included my upper and lower eyes, brows, and a lip lift. This personal touch was part of the overall atmosphere. Every thing had a positive vibe; everyone was professional and warm, and the facilities and transportation were exceptional. It felt like Dr. Yaman really cared for you as a person. My recovery is progressing about as expected. I received a clear aftercare guide and had no additional expenses. For me, a little more language support could be useful, but it didn't hinder the process.
