Debrecen University Hospital

Debrecen Medical Center is located in the oak forest. There is the University, 35 clinics, hotel and laboratory on its territory. The courses of improvement of doctors’ qualification which usually gather about 6,500 students are held there. The Center has about 7,000 people, 1,000 of them are doctors.

Department of Neurology

The Neurological Clinic of the Center accepts patients with these diagnoses:

• vegetative-vascular dystonia;
• Parkinson's disease;
• epilepsy;
• multiple sclerosis;
• atherosclerosis;
• scoliosis.

Chibo Laszlo MD is a Professor and a head of the Neurology Department.

The Center has a laboratory for the study of sleep disorders. This is the only research center of its kind in the Eastern part of the country. The Center accepts about 700 in-patient and 1,200 outpatient visits per year.

The patient with epilepsy had an operation without anesthesia on the basis of the Department. Awake brain surgery allowed doctors to determine the area of the brain responsible for movement and speech due to the intervention. The manipulation was precise to the millimeter and did not injure the patient.

Department of Cardiology

Over the past five years, there were more than 1,200 open heart surgeries in the Cardiology Department of the Center. From 500 to 600 pacemakers are implanted here annually.

One of the significant achievements of the Department is urgent coronary bypass heart surgery on the pregnant patient (28 weeks of the term of pregnancy).

There is also a branch of cardio rehabilitation in the Clinic.

Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology

Professor Tot Zoltan is a head of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

The Center specializes in the treatment of male and female infertility and other pathologies. Experts help couples to conceive a child with Vitro fertilization (IVF). It is necessary to pass the examination, which takes 2-3 weeks before the procedure.

The Gynecological Clinic of the Debrecen Center has its own Oncology Department. The Department is headed by Professor Bognar Zoltan.

Department of Neurosurgery

Professor Bognar Laszlo is a head of the Department. The doctor successfully performed more than 5,000 operations. He is Chairman of the Professional Neurosurgical Board. He uses minimally invasive methods in surgery. Dr. Laszlo passed training in France and the UK.

The doctors of the Department of Neurosurgery are specialized in such areas:

• a vascular malformation;

The Department of Radiosurgical Gamma Knife operates on the basis of the Clinic Of Neurosurgery. Operations are held by Dr. Jozsef Dubai. He is a professional in the field of removal of benign and cancerous brain tumors. The doctor had training in the United States, Germany, the Netherlands, and Sweden.
