Fantastic care at The Portland Hospital for my son’s adeno-tonsillectomy. Our nurse Nikki was incredible – caring for both my son and me when I was feeling anxious. The consultant and anaesthetist were also wonderful, making a stressful day as positive as it could be.

My husband and I attended the Portland Hospital for an allergy review for our 18 month old. Thank you for an excellent, professional service from start to finish. We were kindly led through registration and our appointment by welcoming and diligent administration staff and practice managers. We were recommended the Portland and Professor Lack's clinic from multiple sources and with very clear reason. The clinic was clean and the waiting room well suited to the paediatric patient population. Professor Lack gave us a clear and comprehensive clinical diagnosis and plan. He listened attentively to all our concerns and questions and provided us with evidence base and rationale for our daughters care. We left with clarity and reassurance. The follow up to our GP was quick and very clear. Thank you for reviewing our daughter and helping us understand her clinical concerns and diagnosis, we really appreciate all you do.

We had a very good experience at the Portland Hospital. My three year old daughter needed to go in for a minor operation as a day case. We were warmly welcomed and made to feel at ease. Our nurse, Nektare, was wonderful and reassuring and we are very grateful for everything she did. All of the staff we met were friendly and helpful. The facilities were great and we felt very well looked after. Highly recommend.

Our one year old son had a minor procedure and all of the staff were absolutely wonderful. He was so well cared for which really put him at ease. The room was comfortable and they even brought him toys to play with. My only criticism was that they didn’t cater to his food allergy very well. No one in catering was sure what allergens were in what food and it wasn’t highlighted on the menu. Fortunately we had brought some food with us, as otherwise he would have eaten nothing but sorbet.

Yesterday (February 2025) I had an endometrial ablation, again with Dr Amelia Davison. I had Nurse Kelly, the same lady who helped me with my two procedures in September. And this time, I had another lovely nurse, Aika, who popped in to check on me when Nurse Kelly wasn't around. They were very attentive with me as my blood pressure was low after surgery, and I appreciate the care before discharging me. This surgery gave me a feeling of period pain but no cramps, so I was able to eat a bigger meal, a burger, which was great as I'm anaemic. I'd like to thank the ever-so friendly Dr Mark Esler, the same anaesthetist I used for my September procedures. And also to the lovely nurse who humoured me as I was going into surgery with my rambling about my orange allergy, and tucked me in when I said I was feeling cold. I think her name was Zam, possibly. While I hope to not need to go in a third time, if I do, Dr Amelia and the Portland will be my preferred choice. --------- In September 2024, I had a hysteroscopy and myomectomy here with Dr Amelia Davison. I felt relaxed from day one and was treated exceptionally well by everyone who attended to me at the Portland. I was so relaxed and comfortable in my room that I took a nap before going to theatre. My two nurses (one wearing a uterus badge) were friendly and explained what I should expect before and after the procedure. The anesthetist was Dr Esler and came to see me before the procedure and also when I was in recovery, which I've never experienced before, but made me smile as I felt he genuinely cared for me as a patient. One of the nurses, a lovely American lady with the uterus badge whose name I've forgotten, reminded me that feeling pain is pain, and this was nice; not being gaslighted and having my pain dismissed. Dr Davison was attentive, explained the procedure to me and made me feel at ease, well-informed, and that I was safe in her hands. The bonus was that the food choices were excellent, and they cared enough to take my food allergy seriously and ensure it wasn't in my food. Exceptional service by wonderful people. Thank you all!

Consultant care is fabulous - cannot be faulted - however... Overdue excess fee of £130.00 (hardly the King's Ransom!) letters were addressed to my son (needless to say - not the person who was paying the bill!) - so I wasn't getting the reminders... then Admin person has the audacity to phone me at work to chase the money!!! Disgusted with the customer service I have been shown this afternoon! Literally disgusted! Such a shame as Mr Woods was so fantastic, it is always an admin person with a superiority complex that spoils the ENTIRE customer experience. So cross. If you want me to may the bill, address the letters correctly and maybe be polite when you call!!

HCA I received treatment for AML at UCLH. The treatment was successful. Below is a link to a documentary that I have made about patients living with Graft Versus Host Disease https://youtu.be/DI0TOq_gHEY It features the good treatment I had at the private wing of UCLH and it might be a helpful to both patients and professionals. Please share because more understanding of this condition will be a lot of help to patients. Wilfred Emmanuel Jones

Global Preventive Healthcare Market $240 Billion by 2025. iHealthcareAnalyst, Inc. September 9, 2019 Categories:Press Releases. The global preventive healthcare (technologies and services) market is estimated to reach $240 billion by 2025, growing at a CAGR of 9.5% over the forecast period, driven by government initiatives, and support coupled with public awareness. … High rates of preventable health problems amongst children in economically developed countries have prompted governments to seek pathways for early intervention. According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), seven out of 10 U.S. deaths are caused by chronic disease, while roughly half of the country’s population has been diagnosed with a chronic illness, including heart disease, cancer, diabetes, AIDS, or other conditions classified by the medical community as preventable. https://www.ihealthcareanalyst.com/government-initiatives-…/

This place is beyond a joke. Before my surgery I was told I had to pay up front to later be refunded by my insurer. I did as I was told. But still provided my insurance details on all my forms when it came it all my appointments. However I was logged as a 'self- pay'. For the last month I have been trying to sort this to get my money back. I finally had my insurer pay HCA and now they are saying they cant find the payment. That's despite me sending the invoice and remit. Now… they have my money and my insurers money. Clearly they have my money. They have the evidence of that in two documents and I have a further document proving they have been paid. All i keep getting is 'we will check this friday and see if it's hit the account'. Payment was sent 29/08/2019. I am a final year PhD student. I don't have much money. The money I did use was a loan. I think it's disgusting what you've done.

Beware - customer care is non existent, glossy brochure but nothing helpful such as pre-admission info which is paramount, at the Portland Hospital consultant was excellent & nursing staff great but aftercare is shocking money spinning out of hours doctor service at £350 an appointment. Recommend seeking alternatives to HCA Healthcare.
