The science park and the hospital are facilities of the medical faculty of Rheinisch-Westfälische Technische Hochschule Aachen. In the building standing out because of its architectural features new external ventilation system preventing infections is installed. Professionals who care about patients’ access to fresh air, possibilities to walk and enjoy the landscapes created these conditions in order to facilitate quick recovery and effective rehabilitation.

A regular blood test or a comprehensive body examination which other hospitals fail to provide can be completed here. High standards of preliminary diagnostics are proven just by the fact that an institute for nuclear medicine, radiology department and neurosurgery clinic are parts of University Hospital Aachen. A sophisticated navigation system for surgeries in difficult-to-reach areas is successfully used in the neurosurgery clinic. It is extremely popular with the patients who suffer from late stage neurosurgical diseases. The same system can be used for the spine or adenoma. Radiological surgery is performed with a cyberknife which is not very often used in European hospitals.

University Hospital Aachen includes the following specialized divisions:

  • invasive and intensive cardiology
  • several research units specializing in airway disorders
  • cardiovascular surgery

In addition to doctors and research fellows, about 50 masseurs and physiotherapists work at the hospital. A therapy plan is designed for inpatients at the stage of admission when tests, course of medical treatment and diet are administered. The therapy plan includes physical exercises outdoors, massage or additional physiotherapy in case of serious internal diseases or bone disorders. This contributes to general recovery, immunity boosting and quick rehabilitation.
