Colon cancer Treatment in Medistanbul Hospital

About the clinic

Medistanbul Hospital in Istanbul, Turkey provides comprehensive diagnostics and treatment for colon cancer. Options range from consultations costing around $100 and PET-CT scans for $700 to colectomy surgery priced between $3,900 and $6,400. Treatment is led by Professor Doctor Hakan Karagöl, a specialist in medical oncology.

Diagnosis of Colon Cancer

An accurate diagnosis is the first step. Medistanbul offers several key tests. These help determine the stage and location of cancer.

  • Doctor consultation: An initial meeting to discuss symptoms and plan next steps. This typically costs around $100.
  • Imaging: This can include an MRI of one area ($350-$500) or a full-body PET-CT scan for $700.
  • Colonoscopy: A camera examines the colon. A standard procedure costs $600-$750. Adding a biopsy costs around $550.
  • Biopsy analysis: A pathological block analysis of tissue samples costs about $400.

These services can be combined into a diagnostic package. This full package may cost around $1,750.

Available Treatment Options

Treatment depends on the cancer's stage and location. The hospital offers surgical and endoscopic procedures.

  • Colectomy (large bowel resection): This surgery removes the cancerous part of the colon. It can be done as open or laparoscopic surgery. Hospitalization lasts 4 to 7 nights. The price, including the stay, anesthesia, and pre-op tests, typically runs $3,900-$6,400.
  • Gastric polyps removal: For precancerous growths, an endoscopic polypectomy is available. This is a minimally invasive day procedure.

This review is mainly for the hospital and not for doctor Cagari Demir Baglar who performed my septoplasti/rinoplasty surgery. First let me start with the hospital.

Sure! Here’s your text translated into English: I’ve now had my nose surgery, which was performed on April 17th by Dr. Cagri Demirbaglar, and I can honestly say that I was incredibly well taken care of from start to finish. From the transfer to the nursing staff—everything went smoothly. Everyone at the hospital was so kind and respectful. I especially want to thank Nihal & Didem, who supported me throughout the entire process—from Germany all the way to Turkey. Nihal was there for me from the very first second, organizing my surgery date and always being reachable. Then there was Didem, who took wonderful care of me on-site. She visited me before and after the surgery and kept checking in on how I was doing. It wasn’t some cold or robotic communication—you could genuinely feel that everyone there truly loves what they do and puts their heart into it. I’m so glad I had both of them by my side! My doctor, Dr. Cagri Demirbaglar, created a beautiful result, and I’m so excited to see how everything looks once the healing process is complete. He is a highly skilled, professional, and incredibly friendly surgeon. Communication wasn’t a problem at all—you’ll always have someone there to help translate (by the way, he speaks English very well too, no worries :p). He also gave me some extra tips regarding my skin, which I really appreciated. Even though I have extremely thick skin, he still managed to give me a result I’m happy with. All in all, I can 100% recommend the Medistanbul team. You honestly won’t be missing anything! Thank you to the team and to my amazing doctor, Dr. Cagri Demirbaglar. Forever grateful! Let me know if you want this cleaned up for a review or posted somewhere specific!

A disappointing and traumatic hospital experience On June 15, 2024, I underwent a 360-degree liposuction, abdominoplasty, and breast lift with silicone implants performed by Dr. Teoman Eraslan. The operation was carried out at Medistanbul Hospital. I did not choose this hospital myself — the doctor’s assistant assured me repeatedly that it was a modern, hygienic facility with English-speaking staff and excellent pre- and post-operative care. Unfortunately, the reality was very different. From the moment I arrived, I experienced one disappointment after another. Many nurses had long, decorated nails, heavy makeup, and did not follow basic hygiene standards. A young nurse, without any explanation or preparation, tried to insert an IV line in a rush. It was very painful, my vein swelled and bruised immediately, and blood spilled onto the floor — which no one cleaned. After surgery, things got worse. I was unable to walk and needed help, but no one was around. It was the last day of the Ramadan and I could hear staff celebrating nearby. I had to shout multiple times for help. Eventually, nurses assigned to another doctor’s patients came to assist me. Every attempt to insert a catheter resulted in severe bruising. In the middle of the night, I was spontaneously moved to another room, and some of my belongings were left behind. Again, an inexperienced nurse with long nails tried to place an IV. I couldn’t take it anymore and shouted for someone qualified. Thankfully, an experienced anesthesiologist came and handled it properly. Communication was another major issue. Hardly anyone spoke English. I had to rely on basic Turkish I had picked up from TV dramas. Only one nurse from a different department spoke English, and she offered some temporary relief. Why am I writing this nearly a year later? Because I spent months trying to resolve these issues with the doctor. From the very first day, one implant was placed unnaturally high, causing constant pain. The doctor kept telling me daily massages would help, but eventually I learned the implants were different sizes, not what I had agreed to, and my breast shapes were asymmetric. The incisions were also poorly done. The doctor offered a revision surgery, but I no longer trusted him. He referred me to another surgeon who never contacted me. I sent official emails to both the doctor and the hospital. The tracking system showed the emails were read, but I never received a reply. I can no longer stay silent. I hope my story helps others avoid the same experience.

I called the hospital and asked about prices on certain tests. I was told "they can't give pricing on the phone." What is the point of having a phone number if the client cannot use it for pricing. Do they expect us to show up at the hospital and be shocked with overpriced bills? Unbelievable!
