Unfortunately I cannot recommend Dr. Mantse. I had a transplant at his clinic in spring of 2023. He performs his surgeries in a mansion on the outskirts of Budapest and his wife assists him during the procedure.
As you can see from the photos the density is very poor. I had 3000 grafts implanted and I estimate that about 1/4 - 1/3 survived.
One complication I had was that the scabs persisted for up to 5 weeks after surgery. Dr. Mantse explicitly advised against removing the scabs after 14 days instead advising to spray them with salt water daily to remove them, which was a very time consuming process that took 5 weeks in total.
I think this ultimately lead to the poor results. Why? Let's dive into the scientific literature on scabs and graft anchoring
"Bernstein & Rassman (2006): Graft anchoring in hair transplantation" states the following:
"The study showed that for the first two days, pulling on a hair always resulted in a lost graft, but the chance of the graft being removed started to decrease by the third day. By the sixth day pulling on a hair would no longer dislodge the graft. Pulling on an adherent scab always resulted in a lost graft through day five, with the incidence decreasing through day eight. However, by nine days post-op, grafts were no longer at risk of being dislodged."
"Schweiger et al (2015): Highly efficient and compatible shampoo for use after hair transplant" state the following:
"It is crucial to gently remove scabs since avoidance of crusting reduces the occurrence of graft dislodgment during the first 7 days after hair transplant"
"Shichang et al. (2024): Self-management in the post-hair transplantation recovery period among patients with androgenetic alopecia: A qualitative study" state that:
"In the first week post-surgery, gentle fingertip massage should be used to remove scalp scabs."
So contrary to what Dr. Mantse advises scabs can be removed by gentle shampooing and fingertip massages. Prolonging the existence of scabs after 14 days is not beneficial to graft survival and actually detrimental to graft survival, contrary to what Dr. Mantse seems to believe.
Also I never received the PRP treatment which he gave in his offer.
Given his lack of expertise in the realm of after-treatment I cannot recommend Dr. Mantse

Was recommended by a friend in the UK who had an a transplant there .
2 years ago arranged my own transplant and the results are beyond my expectations. Know I can look in a mirror with confidence , before the transplant I would avoid any mirror due to my hairline. Would fully recommend. and was well worth travelling to get done in Budapest . Communication was amazing and aftercare help was great

Excellent doctor! Meticulous work that you will rarely find nowadays. If you prefer knowledgeable and rigorous surgeon - he is your guy. After the procedure he is there for anything you may need (again, not typical at all nowadays).

I had a transplant in 2016 in Hungary.
I was told by them that I had to wait up to a year for the transplant to see the results. I waited two years to no avail as the hair did not grow at all !!
I found Dr Thomas on the Internet while searching for a second opinion on why the surgery had failed.
After a professional opinion Dr Thomas undertook the work and it was a success.!!
I am presently now back for further work with full trust in Dr Thomas.
I fully trust Dr Thomas and recommend him to others.

I got in touch with Dr Thomas Mantse after my friends had their hair transplants done by Dr Thomas.
I travelled from Italy and it was reassuring that Dr Thomas is also a member of the Italian Society of Hair Science and Restoration. I am now combing my hair(which I could not do) before the HT.
I am recommending him to all my friends.

A legundoritobb ember az osszes orvos kozul akivel valaha talalkoztam! Egy bekezelt undorito kocsog!!! A stilusa bicskanyitogato! Volt pofaja a konzultacion az eloterben elkezdeni vizsgalni, ott a recepcios pult elott mindenki elott!!!! Soha senki ne menjen hozza csak ha szajba akarja vagni!! Kar hogy nem vertem ki az osszes fogad te kancsal sikos geci!!! 🤬🤬

Olvastam a negatív hozzászólásokat és fel vagyok háborodva. Két műtétem volt a klinikán és maximálisan meg vagyok elégedve az eredménnyel. Soha nem gondoltam volna, hogy lesz hajam még a kopasz részeken. Korábban pár ismerősömöm láttam más klinikák műveit és azok köszönő viszonyban sincsenek ahhoz a munkához amit ezen a klinikán végeznek. Én őket választottam és csak hálás lehetek az eredményért. Képeim megtekinthetőek a klinikán. (hozzájárulok a képeim megtekintéséhez, ha valaki kételkedne a beavatkozás sikerességében) Még egy gondolat, a szakmai tudásuk mellett azt szeretném kiemelni, mennyire figyelmesek és empatikusak voltak velem az első pillanattól kezdve.
