Prof. Dr. Samet Yardımcı is a specialist in obesity and metabolic surgery, gastrointestinal surgery, and general surgery
After completing his primary and secondary education in Antakya, he was admitted to Ankara University Faculty of Medicine in 1997 to begin his medical education. In 2003, the same year he graduated from medical school, he passed the medical specialization exam and started his General Surgery residency at Haydarpaşa Numune Training and Research Hospital.
Between 2008 and 2009, he received training in cancer surgery and organ transplantation at MD Anderson Cancer Center and Memorial Hermann Hospitals in Houston, USA. Upon returning to Turkey, he ranked first in the nationwide subspecialty exam for general surgeons in 2009. Following this achievement, he completed his Gastrointestinal Surgery (digestive system surgery) training at Turkey High Specialization Hospital between 2009 and 2012.
In 2012, he became Turkey’s youngest Gastrointestinal Surgeon and was appointed to Marmara University Pendik Training and Research Hospital. Between 2012 and 2018, he lectured to medical students at Marmara University Faculty of Medicine and general surgery residents, actively participated in various training programs for patients and surgeons, and worked in advanced laparoscopic surgery, obesity, and metabolic surgery. Additionally, he played an active role in establishing organ transplantation and inflammatory bowel disease surgery units. In March 2017, he was awarded the title of Associate Professor after successfully passing the examination.
