In my opinion, everything is just top-notch, starting with the doctor and ending with the staff. The transfer was well organized. An interpreter was provided, and the hotel was booked. I also want to express my gratitude to the coordinators, as they were always in touch. We even managed to make some good friends.

To be honest, I am not very satisfied with their work, because after the procedure of sclerotherapy appeared on the arm a large bruise, it hurt and did not pass for a long time for two weeks or more. Also after the procedure in the vein that I was injected with it as it was such and remained, the procedure I consider useless if partially gone, but remained most of the visible.

FAQ about Varicose veins removal in Turkey

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

Is it safe to have varicose veins removal done in Turkey?

Varicose vein removal in Turkey is safe when performed by board-certified vascular surgeons at JCI-accredited facilities like Hisar Hospital Intercontinental or Anadolu Medical Center. These clinics utilize minimally invasive techniques including EVLA and sclerotherapy, achieving success rates between 85% and 95% with minimal recovery time.

  • Surgeon credentials: Specialists often hold European Society for Vascular Surgery memberships with 900+ procedures performed.
  • Safety certifications: Top-tier hospitals maintain Joint Commission International (JCI) accreditation and Ministry of Health licenses.
  • Advanced technology: Clinics provide interventional radiology and color Doppler ultrasound for precise, incision-free vein closure.
  • Recovery period: Most patients are mobile within 24–48 hours and require zero to 2 days hospitalization.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Data shows a significant experience gap benefit in Turkey; for instance, Dr. Ali Fedakar at Hisar Hospital has completed over 900 procedures. While many international clinics require general anesthesia for vein stripping, Turkish specialists like those at Dr. ZAN Vein Clinic prioritize local-only protocols. This approach eliminates anesthesia-related risks and allows patients to walk comfortably immediately after the procedure.

Patient Consensus: Patients frequently highlight the seamless coordination of VIP transfers and the effectiveness of laser treatments. A common practical tip is to bring your own compression stockings to ensure a perfect fit during the flight home.

What are the most popular treatment methods available in Turkey?

Turkey is a global leader in medical tourism, offering advanced treatments like hair transplantation, cosmetic surgery, dental care, and specialized procedures such as varicose veins removal. Popular methods include Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE), rhinoplasty, and minimally invasive vascular treatments like endovenous laser ablation (EVLA) and sclerotherapy.

  • Hair restoration: FUE and DHI techniques achieve near 100% success rates for international patients.
  • Aesthetic surgery: Rhinoplasty and body contouring cost 63% less than in the US.
  • Vascular treatments: EVLA and radiofrequency ablation (RFA) allow same-day discharge and quick recovery.
  • Dental care: Zirconia implants and Emax veneers are standard for full smile transformations.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While many seek Turkey for hair transplants, the country's vascular expertise is equally elite. Surgeons like Dr. Ali Fedakar at Hisar Hospital have performed over 900 procedures. This high volume across 60+ departments at JCI-accredited clinics ensures that even complex interventional radiology cases follow refined, high-success protocols.

Patient Consensus: Patients value the efficiency of same-day, minimally invasive procedures that take under 1 hour. They frequently praise the seamless experience involving professional interpreters, luxury hotel stays, and detailed pre-operative vein mapping.

How long does recovery take after a varicose veins procedure?

Recovery after varicose veins procedures in Turkey typically allows patients to return to daily activities within 24 to 48 hours. While initial healing occurs in 1 to 3 weeks, full aesthetic results usually take 6 to 12 weeks. Most patients resume desk work within 5 days.

  • Daily activities: Patients usually resume light walking and desk work within 1 to 5 days.
  • Physical restrictions: Avoid heavy lifting and high-impact exercise for 2 to 4 weeks after surgery.
  • Compression therapy: Medical-grade stockings are required for 1 to 3 weeks to support healing.
  • Travel timeline: Short flights are restricted for 2 weeks, while long-haul travel requires 4 to 6 weeks.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Data from clinics like Hisar Hospital and Dr. ZAN Vein Clinic shows a shift toward `closed` treatments. These procedures use interventional radiology or ultrasound-guided lasers to eliminate surgical incisions and hospital stays. Choosing these needle-based techniques typically reduces the initial recovery window from 14 days to just 3 days.

Patient Consensus: Many patients report that while they felt mobile almost immediately, significant bruising and unexpected fatigue lasted up to 10 days. Wearing compression stockings consistently is the most cited factor for reducing post-procedure achiness and swelling.

How long should I plan to stay in Turkey for the treatment trip?

Plan for a 3 to 5 day trip to Turkey for varicose vein treatment. Most patients undergo minimally invasive procedures like endovenous laser ablation or sclerotherapy on an outpatient basis. You can typically fly safely 48 to 72 hours following the procedure with compression stockings.

  • Hospital stay: Expect 0 to 2 days depending on the specific technique and clinic protocol.
  • Post-op check: Schedule an ultrasound and doctor visit 1 to 4 days after the procedure.
  • Travel buffer: Allow 2 to 3 days for recovery before your return flight to prevent complications.
  • Activity level: Walk daily immediately after treatment to promote healthy blood flow and prevent clots.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While many clinics like Hisar Hospital Intercontinental offer same-day discharge, the most comprehensive packages include a 24-hour monitoring period. Choosing a package with 1 night of hospitalization, such as those at Medical Park Antalya, provides professional oversight during the critical first hours without increasing your hotel costs. This balance ensures safety while keeping the total trip under 5 days.

Patient Consensus: Patients emphasize that while it is an outpatient procedure, having a few days as a buffer is helpful. Most report feeling comfortable enough to fly home by day 3 while wearing mandatory compression stockings.

What is typically included in an ‘all-inclusive’ treatment package for international patients?

All-inclusive packages for varicose veins removal in Turkey bundle the medical procedure, diagnostic tests, and logistical support into one fixed price. Typical inclusions comprise endovenous laser ablation (EVLA) or sclerotherapy, preoperative ultrasound, compression garments, VIP airport-to-clinic transfers, and multi-night stays in 4 or 5-star hotels.

  • Medical services: Covers surgeon fees, anesthesia, and minimally invasive techniques like ultrasound-guided interventional radiology.
  • Diagnostic tests: Includes essential preoperative blood work, color Doppler ultrasound, and initial specialist consultations.
  • Post-operative care: Standard packages provide compression stockings, required painkillers, and a 1-day follow-up visit.
  • Logistics: Provides private airport-hotel-clinic shuttles and dedicated English-speaking coordinators for medical translation.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While many think all-inclusive always means hotel stays, Turkish clinics often differentiate based on the technique used. Procedures like EVLA at Medical Park Antalya bundle full-board hospital meals and 24-hour nursing, whereas boutique clinics like Dr. ZAN focus on outpatient care with free multi-language interpreters but no hospitalization, reflecting the procedural shift toward zero-recovery-time treatments.

Patient Consensus: Patients frequently highlight the seamless coordination of airport pickups and the convenience of having a translator present during consultations. Many recommend confirming if specific items like post-op medications and compression stockings are fully covered to avoid small out-of-pocket expenses.
