"Israel is a really high level and professionalism of doctors
Hello! Thank you for organizing my mom’s treatment. The host, organizers, are professionals and have done everything possible for quick surgery and meeting with doctors. Denis and his team seem to be working around the clock. Great fellows! Doctors are awesome! Attentive and very caring. And most importantly, knowledgeable. The operation went well and we are very pleased with everything. The room was comfortable. All that is needed. The only thing is Ichilov Center - a state hospital, the attendants did not always provide the services expected from them. But our host always did everything possible to quickly eliminate certain situations. They patronized us constantly. Israel is a really high level and professionalism of doctors. We were very pleased.

Our Ankle replacement Techniques: What Suits You Best?

When considering Ankle replacement, it’s important to understand the different techniques and which is best suited for you. Here’s a concise comparison of popular options:

Ankle joint replacement

Ankle joint replacement, also known as ankle arthroplasty, is a surgical procedure where a damaged ankle joint is replaced with a prosthetic ankle.

Pros: Provides better mobility and reduced pain compared to arthrodesis of the ankle joint. Approximately 90% of patients report significant pain relief and improved function post-surgery.
Cons: The lifespan of the artificial ankle is limited, sometimes requiring revision surgery in 10-15 years. Risk of infection and prosthetic loosening is higher compared to ankle arthroscopy.
Effectiveness: 90% success rate in improving pain and function.
Duration: 2-3 hours.
Recovery: 3-6 months.
Best for: Patients with severe arthritis or degenerative joint disease in the ankle. Suitable for individuals seeking improved mobility and pain relief.

Arthrodesis of the ankle joint

This procedure involves fusing the bones of the ankle joint to eliminate pain and improve stability in cases of severe arthritis or injury.

Pros: Offers a 90% success rate in pain reduction and improved stability. Long-lasting results without the need for future replacements, unlike total ankle replacement.
Cons: Limits ankle movement permanently, which can affect walking. Recovery time is longer compared to ankle arthroscopy, which is less invasive.
Effectiveness: Success rate of 90% in pain relief and stability.
Duration: 2-3 hours.
Recovery: 6-12 weeks.
Best for: Severe arthritis, degenerative joint disease, or significant ankle injury. Suitable for patients who do not benefit from ankle joint replacement.

Ankle Arthroscopy

Ankle Arthroscopy is a minimally invasive surgical procedure used to diagnose and treat problems in the ankle joint.

Pros: Minimally invasive with smaller incisions, leading to faster recovery and less scarring compared to ankle joint replacement and arthrodesis. Approximately 90% of patients report significant pain relief and improved function.
Cons: Limited to addressing specific issues within the joint and may not be suitable for severe arthritis or extensive joint damage. Approximately 10% of procedures may not fully resolve symptoms.
Effectiveness: Success rate of around 90% for improving joint function and reducing pain in targeted conditions.
Duration: 1 to 2 hours.
Recovery: 2 to 6 weeks.
Best for: Addressing cartilage damage, removing bone spurs, and treating ligament injuries within the ankle joint.
