Arthroscopy is a surgical procedure that allows you to diagnose the joint and immediately begin to his surgical treatment. All manipulations are carried out through small punctures in the skin, which reduces blood loss and the duration of postoperative rehabilitation.

With diagnostic arthroscopy , the surgeon can:

  • examine the inside of the joint;
  • assess the condition of tissues, menisci and ligaments;
  • take a biopsy;
  • identify comorbidities or injuries;
  • clarify the diagnosis and the extent of the necessary surgical intervention.

Surgical arthroscopy allows you to proceed with the immediate surgical treatment of the identified disease.

From pickup to drop off, it was all so easy. Denisa, my surgery coordinator was so sweet and made me really feel at ease. The doctor was also funny yet professional. I was having labiaplasty so it was nice to smile through it all. Also my recovery was really simple. I had minor pain for maybe 1 day and then I was really moving around fine. Plus, I knew I could call on Denisa if I had any problems. I really appreciated that since I was traveling alone for my surgery. Overall, great service and pleased with my results.

I would like to express my deep gratitude to the surgeon Vladislav Gospodar for everything. Also We are very glad that such professionals work in the service of foreign patients' support. We would like to add our personal observations and observations .. they can help improve the quality of the support service. - since The set of dishes in the kitchen of the clinic, in principle, has a restriction, it can give foreigners a menu for choosing at least in English - the wish also concerns the list of procedures for the patient and the exercises recommended by physiotherapists. We think this will reduce the patient's dependence on the concierge service. Thanks again. Good luck in everything!

FAQ about Arthroscopy in Czech Republic

What are the types of arthroscopy?

Arthroscopy is considered a universal operation that provides access to almost every joint in the human body. Depending on the venue, there are the following types of procedures:

  • arthroscopy of the knee joint (used for rupture of the anterior or posterior cruciate ligaments, meniscus);
  • arthroscopy of the ankle joint ;
  • arthroscopy of the shoulder joint (prevention and treatment of various pathologies);
  • arthroscopy of the elbow joint (allows you to eliminate problems with flexion and extension of the limbs, pain, infection);
  • hip arthroscopy (the most difficult type of procedure).

How is arthroscopy performed?

The operation begins with the introduction of anesthesia to the patient, which can be general, local or spinal (only for the lower body). After fixing the limb, the surgeon applies a special tourniquet (tourniquet) so that no blood enters the joint. This ensures good visibility during the operation.

All surgical manipulations are carried out through punctures in the skin with a diameter of about 5-7 mm. An arthroscope (a type of endoscope) and metal tubes are inserted into the joint to supply and drain fluid. A small video camera is built into the arthroscope, which transmits the image to a large color screen. Thanks to this, the surgeon can see the structure of the joint in detail.

After the examination, all detected injuries or pathologies are immediately corrected with the help of surgical instruments, which are also inserted through punctures.

After the operation is completed, the joint is treated with a special preparation that promotes rapid recovery. Small sutures are applied to the punctures, and pressure bandages are applied to the operated area.
