Christoph Neumayer

Univ. Prof. Dr. Christoph Neumayer is one of Austria’s leading experts in vascular and endovascular surgery, internationally known for his precision in treating arterial, venous, and aortic diseases. With decades of surgical experience and academic leadership, he has played a key role in developing modern, minimally invasive vascular procedures that have improved outcomes for thousands of patients.

He studied medicine at the University of Vienna, graduating in the 1980s, and began his surgical training at the Vienna General Hospital (AKH). His early focus on vascular medicine led him to specialize in arterial reconstructions, carotid surgery, and aortic repair, fields in which he later became a national pioneer.

     1980s – Completed medical studies and began residency in general and vascular surgery.

     1990s – Specialized in open vascular surgery, performing complex reconstructions of the carotid, peripheral, and aortic arteries.

     2000s – Advanced expertise in endovascular techniques, such as stent grafting and minimally invasive aneurysm repair (EVAR/TEVAR).

     2010s – Appointed Professor and Head of the Division of Vascular Surgery at the Medical University of Vienna, leading major research and surgical innovation projects.

     Today – Practices as a senior consultant at Wiener Privatklinik, focusing on the full range of arterial and venous surgery, including aneurysm, carotid stenosis, and peripheral arterial disease.

Prof. Neumayer has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and participates in international vascular research collaborations. His contributions have shaped best-practice standards in endovascular therapy and hybrid vascular surgery.
