In 3 months I will come, we will put on crowns;)🌷🇹🇷😎
This was my first trip to Istanbul. Coordinator Tatyana contacted me through Bookimed. With great patience and understanding of the problem, taking into account my very specific needs and wishes, the program and clinic were selected for me. It was about the implantation of 3 teeth, and the removal of 2 complex roots. I was very worried about the trip, Tatyana reassured me, said that the clinic provides both a transfer and an interpreter, this is included in the program. They even sent me a photo of where they would meet me. The way from the airport was long (by the standards of the country from which I came), but comfortable, I even knew how to watch a movie on Netflix in a limousine, which I had noticed for a long time. I was greeted at the clinic by the friendly, nice and competent Zülal, the Russian speaking coordinator of the clinic. The problem with a little trouble was quickly resolved, and at my request, the extraction of teeth and implantation were performed under anesthesia, the so-called sedation. I was counting on terrible pain, swelling and bruising (these are not the first implants that I put in my country) ... Imagine my surprise when in the morning there was no pain, no bruising, or even swelling! I was given antibiotics, and rinses, painkillers, which I never needed because there was no pain. I ate soft and liquid food after 2 hours. And now I'm eating a whole meal! In 3 months I will come, we will put on crowns;)🌷🇹🇷😎 I highly recommend the clinic, it has really qualified and competent specialists. With gratitude, Elena 🇺🇦 Ukraine - 🇨🇭 Switzerland

FAQ about treatment in Turkey

What is teeth whitening?

Teeth whitening is a cosmetic dental procedure designed to lighten teeth by removing stains and discoloration. During the whitening procedure, the dentist uses special products and appliances to clean the tooth enamel of pigment deposits.

It's one of the most popular dental treatments, particularly in dental tourism hotspots like Turkey, due to its cost-effectiveness and high-quality services. Annually, over 500,000 international medical tourists go to Turkey for various treatments and medical services. Teeth whitening procedures make up the lion's share of those. Teeth whitening procedures in Turkey start at $65.

👉Did you know?

Teeth whitening treatment has been practiced in some form for thousands of years; ancient Romans, for example, used urine and goat milk in an attempt to make their teeth whiter. Fortunately, modern methods are far more advanced and safe, offering significant whitening effects without damaging the tooth structure.

Who can get teeth whitening treatment?

Teeth whitening is generally suitable for people with healthy teeth and gums. Anyone who is 18 years old and does not have the following contraindications can undergo teeth whitening smile makeover:

  • diseases of the oral cavity;

  • allergy to bleaching agents;

  • the presence of caries;

  • cracks and microcracks in tooth enamel;

  • tooth abrasion;

  • pregnancy and lactation;

  • oncological diseases;

  • increased sensitivity of the teeth, etc.

❗Only after a dental consultation can the doctor decide if the person is suitable for the whitening treatment.

What types of teeth whitening are there?

When considering teeth whitening options, two primary methods stand out:

  • In-Office Whitening. This professional treatment is conducted in a dental office, offering rapid and noticeable results, typically within one appointment. It’s ideal for those seeking immediate improvements.

  • Custom At-Home Whitening Kits. Provided by dentists, these kits feature custom trays tailored to fit the patient's mouth perfectly. The dentist will supply a whitening gel and instructions on how to use the kit at home over a period of time, allowing for effective results under professional oversight.

What types of professional teeth whitening are there?

In-office teeth whitening, performed directly by dental professionals, offers several variations that cater to different needs and preferences:

  • Traditional Bleach Whitening. This method involves applying a high-concentration peroxide gel directly to the teeth. The gel remains on the teeth for several intervals of 15-20 minutes, totaling up to an hour.

✔️ This method is effective for significant staining and can dramatically improve the whiteness of teeth in a single session.

  • Laser Teeth Whitening. In this technique, a peroxide bleaching solution is applied to the teeth, followed by the use of a laser to enhance the whitening process. The laser teeth whitening procedure accelerates the chemical reactions of the bleaching agent, shortening the treatment time and improving the results.

✔️ Laser teeth whitening tends to work faster and helps to achieve more dramatic results compared to other methods.

  • Light-Activated Whitening. Similar to laser whitening, this method uses a special light (not a laser) to activate the bleaching agent. The light helps to speed up the whitening process, making it a quick solution for those looking for fast results.

✔️ Light-activated whitening is a popular choice for those who seek a less intense alternative to laser treatment but still desire quicker results than traditional bleaching.

Why choose teeth whitening in Turkey?

Dental tourism is gaining popularity globally, with Turkey ranking among the top five destinations for medical tourists from the USA, Canada, and Spain, according to International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery ISAPS. The Turkish government actively promotes medical tourism, with the industry doubling annually, as reported by the Turkish Ministry of Tourism and USHAŞ.

💲 One of the primary reasons patients choose Turkey for dental procedures like teeth whitening is the significant cost savings. Patients can save between 50 to 70% compared to the costs in their home countries without compromising on quality. What professional teeth whitening methods are used by dentists in Turkey in 2024?

Professional dental whitening is divided into types according to the method of action on tooth enamel. The methods that Turkish dentists conduct are divided into:

  • Mechanical Method. This technique involves physically scrubbing the teeth with a special abrasive substance to remove surface stains.

🦷  It's a straightforward approach that's less common for deep whitening but can be effective for mild discoloration.

  • Ultrasonic Method. Ultrasonic cleaning uses high-frequency sound waves to break up and remove stains and plaque from the teeth.

🦷 It’s gentle on the enamel and is often used in conjunction with other whitening procedures to enhance the overall results.

  • Chemical Bleaching. This is one of the most popular methods and involves applying a strong bleaching agent, typically hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide, directly to the teeth.

🦷 This method penetrates the enamel to lighten the color of the dentin underneath, effectively whitening the teeth.

  • Laser Whitening Method. Laser teeth whitening in Turkey uses a laser to activate the bleaching agent applied to the teeth.

🦷 The laser speeds up the bleaching process for quick and dramatic results. Laser tooth whitening procedures in Turkey start from $250.

🦷 It’s a less intense option than laser whitening and is popular due to its effectiveness and reduced sensitivity post-treatment.

  • Philips Zoom 4 System. This advanced teeth whitening system uses a powerful LED light to activate a specially formulated gel applied to the teeth.

🦷  It can significantly whiten teeth in just one office visit, offering a controlled, safe, and highly effective treatment for oral health.

  • Beyond. The Beyond whitening system combines halogen light technology with a specially formulated gel to quickly and effectively whiten teeth.

🦷  It’s known for reducing tooth sensitivity and providing long-lasting whitening results in less than an hour. Beyond teeth whitening procedure price in Turkey starts at $65.

Which method is the best in each case the dentist decides after consultation with the patient. If you want to schedule an appointment, Bookimed's medical coordinator is at your disposal 24/7. Contact us without obligation. Our services are free to patients.

How is LED light teeth whitening performed in Turkey step by step?

The LED light teeth whitening procedure (Zoom 4 and Beyond) is carried out in several stages:

1. Preparation and Cleaning of the Teeth. The dentist examines your teeth and thoroughly cleans them to prepare for LED light teeth whitening.

2. Application of Whitening Gel. The dentist evenly applies a professional whitening gel containing hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide to your teeth.

3. Activation with LED Light. An LED light device activates the whitening gel, enhancing its effectiveness by penetrating and breaking down stains.

4. Expose Teeth to Light. The teeth receive exposure to the LED light for about 15 to 30 minutes, ensuring optimal whitening results.

5. Rinsing and Evaluation. After light exposure, the dentist rinses off the gel and evaluates the initial whitening results.

6. Post-Whitening Care Practices. Follow the dentist's instructions for post-whitening care, including avoiding staining foods and using desensitizing toothpaste if needed.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of teeth whitening?

✅ Advantages

  • Improved Appearance. Teeth whitening enhances the appearance of your smile, boosting confidence and self-esteem.

  • Non-Invasive. Most teeth whitening procedures are non-invasive and painless, involving the application of whitening agents without altering the tooth structure.

  • Quick Results. Professional whitening treatments often provide noticeable results in a short time, typically within one or two sessions.

  • Safe Procedure. When done under dental supervision, teeth whitening is safe, with minimal risk of side effects or complications.

  • Customizable. Dentists can tailor whitening treatments to meet individual needs, adjusting the intensity of the whitening agents based on the patient's preferences and dental health.

❌ Disadvantages

  • Temporary Results. The effects of teeth whitening are not permanent and may fade over time, requiring touch-up treatments to maintain brightness.

  • Sensitivity. Some individuals may experience temporary tooth sensitivity or gum irritation after whitening, although these effects usually subside.

  • Gum Irritation. A temporary discomfort, redness, and swelling in the gums, typically resolving within a few days may require post-whitening care to alleviate symptoms.

  • Not Suitable for Everyone. Certain dental conditions or sensitivities require a thorough dental evaluation before undergoing the procedure.

  • Risk of Over-Whitening. Excessive or improper use of whitening products can lead to over-whitening, causing enamel damage and increased sensitivity.

Can someone get teeth whitening if has a lot of tooth sensitivity?

Yes, one can undergo teeth whitening even if has tooth sensitivity. Dentists employ several strategies to make whitening procedures safe and comfortable for individuals with sensitive teeth:

  • Tooth Remineralization Procedure. Before whitening, your dentist may recommend a tooth remineralization procedure. This process helps strengthen and protect the enamel, reducing sensitivity during whitening.

  • Use of Gentle Whitening Methods. Dentists may use innovative whitening appliances like Zoom 4 and Beyond, which use mild whitening gels. These methods are designed to minimize irritation and discomfort for sensitive teeth.

  • Laser Teeth Whitening. Laser teeth whitening is another option for individuals with sensitivity. This technique is gentle on the teeth and can deliver effective whitening results without exacerbating sensitivity.

  • Home Whitening Kits. For at-home whitening, dentists may provide special kits containing a mild activator. These kits allow patients to whiten their teeth gradually and comfortably, minimizing sensitivity.

Does the teeth whitening procedure affect tooth sensitivity?

Yes, the teeth whitening procedure can affect tooth sensitivity in some individuals. The bleaching agents used in whitening treatments, such as hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide, can irritate the tooth's nerve endings, leading to increased sensitivity. However, the degree of sensitivity experienced can vary depending on factors such as:

Factor

Impact on Tooth Sensitivity

Concentration of Bleaching Agents Higher concentrations may increase sensitivity
Duration of Treatment Longer or more frequent sessions can contribute to sensitivity
Pre-existing Sensitivity Individuals with sensitive teeth may experience heightened sensitivity
Application Technique Improper application methods can increase the risk of sensitivity
Overall Oral Health The condition of teeth and gums can influence sensitivity levels

Despite the potential for sensitivity, there are steps that can be taken to minimize discomfort and manage sensitivity during and after teeth whitening:

  • Consult with a Dentist. Before undergoing whitening, consult with your dentist to assess your level of sensitivity and determine the most suitable whitening approach.

  • Use Gentle Whitening Methods. Dentists may recommend gentler whitening methods or lower concentrations of bleaching agents for individuals with sensitivity.

  • Desensitizing Treatments. Some dentists offer desensitizing treatments before or after whitening to reduce tooth sensitivity and strengthen enamel.

  • Follow Instructions Carefully. Adhere to the dentist's instructions regarding the duration and frequency of whitening treatments to minimize sensitivity.

  • Avoid Trigger Foods. After whitening, avoid consuming extremely hot or cold foods and beverages that may trigger sensitivity.

By taking these precautions and consulting with your dentist, individuals can undergo teeth whitening with reduced risk of sensitivity and discomfort.

Does whitening affect tooth enamel?

No, modern teeth whitening methods, such as laser and LED light techniques, do not typically damage tooth enamel. These advanced methods can whiten teeth by 8 to 12 shades without causing harm to the enamel. Teeth whitening with Philips Zoom 4 and Beyond devices is known for its gentle approach, ensuring effective whitening without compromising enamel integrity. These technologies are designed to prioritize safety and minimize the risk of enamel damage during the whitening process.

Dentists conduct a thorough review and diagnosis before proceeding with whitening procedures. If there are any underlying issues that may prevent safe whitening or if the enamel is at risk of damage, the dentist will not recommend the procedure.

Are gums damaged by teeth whitening?

Teeth whitening procedures are safe for gums when conducted by a qualified dentist and follow specific guidelines. To protect gums, dentists use a special protective gel that covers gums entirely, preventing the whitening gel's active component from affecting them. Consulting a dentist ensures personalized care and adherence to safety measures, minimizing any potential risks to gums during whitening treatments.

Can teeth whitening burn your gums?

Teeth whitening treatments, when performed correctly, should not burn your gums. Nevertheless, improper use of whitening products or overexposure to whitening agents can lead to gum irritation or sensitivity. If someone experiences any discomfort or burning sensation during whitening, stop the treatment immediately and consult your dentist.

Is anesthesia required for teeth whitening?

In most cases, dentists do not recommend anesthesia for teeth whitening procedures. However, some patients may request local anesthesia for added comfort during the treatment.

Is it painful to get teeth whitening?

Teeth whitening procedures using modern methods and devices like Philips Zoom 4 and Beyond are generally painless. However, some patients may experience discomfort in the gum area and increased sensitivity in the teeth immediately after the procedure. These symptoms typically subside within 24-48 hours, and most patients find the overall whitening experience tolerable.

Is scaling and polishing necessary before teeth whitening?

Yes, scaling and polishing are often recommended before teeth whitening. Here's why:

  1. Scaling and polishing help remove surface stains from the teeth, allowing the whitening agent to penetrate more effectively and evenly.

  2. Clean teeth provide a better surface for the whitening gel to adhere to.

  3. Scaling and polishing reduce bacteria and prevent gum disease, creating a healthier environment for whitening treatments.

  4. Removing plaque and tartar buildup can minimize tooth sensitivity during and after whitening, improving overall comfort during the procedure.

Will it be okay to eat all the food after whitening?

Right after whitening, a patient should follow a white diet. It is so called because the patient must avoid eating and drinking all colored foods that can cause discoloration of newly treated teeth. In order to maintain the whiteness of newly treated teeth and maximize the effectiveness of the whitening treatment, the doctors advise:

  • Avoid consuming colored foods and beverages like coffee, tea, coke, red wine, and beetroot.

  • Refrain from smoking during the first few days post-whitening.

For how long should one not drink coffee or Coke after teeth whitening?

Doctors recommend avoiding coffee or coke for at least 2 days after teeth whitening. It's even better to avoid consuming these beverages for up to 2 weeks to maintain the whitening results and prevent staining of the teeth ❌☕.

How often can whitening be done?

Dentists do not recommend whitening your teeth more than once every 2 years. This recommended interval helps to prevent potential damage to tooth enamel and ensures the safety of the whitening procedure.

Is it possible to whiten a dead tooth?

Yes, it's possible to whiten a dead tooth through internal tooth whitening. This procedure involves placing a whitening agent inside the tooth and sealing it.

How long can teeth whitening last?

If a patient follows all of the dentist's recommendations, teeth whitening can last up to 3 years. However, the duration of whitening effects can vary based on factors such as:

- 🤸 lifestyle habits;

- 🪥oral hygiene practices;

- 🥦and dietary choices.

Regular dental check-ups and maintenance treatments, as advised by your dentist, can help prolong the whitening results after a professional teeth whitening procedure.

How many shades can whiten teeth?

With new dental appliances and methods, it is possible to whiten teeth by up to 12 shades. These advanced techniques allow for significant improvement in tooth color, providing patients with a noticeably brighter and more radiant hollywood smile. However, the actual degree of whitening achieved may vary depending on factors such as the initial shade of the teeth, the type of whitening treatment used, and individual response to the procedure.

How much whiter will my teeth be?

The degree of the teeth whitening depends on individual factors such as:

  • Starting Tooth Shade. The initial color of your teeth plays a significant role in determining how much whiter they can become after treatment.

  • Whitening Treatment Type. Different whitening methods and products can achieve varying degrees of whitening. Professional treatments like laser whitening or tray-based whitening kits may yield different results.

  • Treatment Duration. Longer or repeated whitening sessions may lead to more significant whitening results, but it's important to follow your dentist's recommendations for safety.

  • Dental Health. The overall health and condition of your teeth and gums can impact the effectiveness of whitening treatments.

  • Personal Habits. Lifestyle factors such as smoking, consumption of staining foods and drinks, and oral hygiene practices can affect the longevity and intensity of whitening results.

When should someone whiten their teeth for the best results?

For the best results, it's recommended to whiten your teeth after completing any necessary dental treatments, such as fillings or cleanings. Additionally, consider the following factors:

  • 🦷 Dental Health. Ensure your teeth and gums are in good health before whitening to minimize sensitivity and achieve optimal results.

  • 🗓️ Timing. Plan your whitening treatment during a period when you can avoid consuming staining foods and beverages for a few days after the procedure, as this can help maintain the whitening results.

  • 🎂 Special Occasions. If you have a special event coming up, such as a wedding or graduation, consider whitening your teeth a few weeks before to allow for any potential sensitivity to subside and ensure a bright smile for the occasion.

What causes dental discoloration?

Dental discoloration can result from:

1. Staining foods, beverages, and tobacco.

2. Poor oral hygiene.

3. Aging and natural enamel wear.

4. Genetic factors.

5. Medications like tetracycline.

6. Dental trauma or injury.

7. Fluorosis from excessive fluoride.

8. Previous dental procedures.

Is whitening done before or after dental procedures?

Whitening is typically done after dental procedures. It's essential to conduct dental treatments before the professional teeth whitening procedure to avoid potential damage to the enamel. Bleaching agents used in whitening treatments can penetrate teeth, potentially harming sensitive tissues and nerves. Therefore, completing dental procedures first ensures the enamel remains intact and minimizes the risk of complications during whitening.

What are the side effects of teeth whitening?

The side effects of teeth whitening process may include:

  • Tooth Sensitivity. Increased sensitivity to hot or cold temperatures during or after whitening.

  • Gum Irritation. Temporary gum irritation or sensitivity due to contact with whitening agents.

  • White Spots. Occasional appearance of white spots on teeth, typically temporary.

  • Soft Tissue Irritation. Potential irritation of lips, tongue, or cheeks from whitening products.

  • Uneven Whitening. Possibility of uneven whitening results, especially with at-home kits.

  • Temporary Discomfort. Mild discomfort or irritation during the whitening process, which usually subsides.

Is tooth bleaching safe?

Teeth whitening treatments are generally safe when done under professional guidance or following instructions for at-home kits using a professional whitening agent of good quality. Use quality products, follow instructions carefully, and monitor sensitivity. Note that it may not be suitable for everyone, such as pregnant women or those with certain dental conditions.

Will teeth whitening change restorations?

Tooth whitening procedure typically does not change the color of existing dental restorations such as crowns, veneers, or fillings. These restorations are made from materials that do not respond to whitening agents. As a result, the natural teeth may become whiter, but the color of restorations will remain unchanged. If there are concerns about the color match between natural teeth and existing restorations, it's advisable to consult a dentist for personalized advice.
