After graduating from Istanbul University Faculty of Medicine in 1988, he completed his specialization in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He became an associate professor at Cerrahpaşa Medical Faculty in 1993 and became a professor in 2003. Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hakan Birkent is an internationally respected expert in aesthetic voice surgery. He is known for his advanced work in voice masculinization and feminization, procedures that require a high level of skill. With over 20 years of experience in ENT, he has worked at leading institutions such as GATA and Istanbul Surgery Hospital. He specializes in vocal health, head and neck cancer, and complex airway surgeries.

Dr. Birkent has published more than 70 peer-reviewed articles and has contributed to major otolaryngology textbooks. He is an active member of over 10 respected ENT societies, including the European Laryngological Society and the Union of European Phoniatricians. His clinical interests include vocal fold paralysis, airway stenosis, sleep apnea, rhinoplasty, and pediatric ENT. He is recognized as a leader in both functional and aesthetic ENT procedures.
