Dr. Samer Mohammad Kaaka is an internal medicine specialist with advanced training in cardiology. He received his M.D. from Damascus University in 1994. He completed his specialist training in internal medicine and cardiology at top Syrian centers, including Al-Basel Heart Institute.

Dr. Kaaka is accredited by the European Board for Accreditation in Cardiology (EBAC). He is a member of the Syrian Medical Association and the Syrian–American Medical Society for Cardiology (SAMSC). He has performed many diagnostic and therapeutic cardiac procedures, such as echocardiography, cardiac catheterizations, and pacemaker implantations. He is American Board of Surgery certified in addition to being a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons as well as a member of the Society for Vascular Surgery, USA. His clinical interests include mainly endovascular and open treatments of diabetic feet, carotid disease, aortic pathology specifically in dissections and aneurysms involving the thoracic and abdominal aorta as well as venous disease and wound care. In addition, he has a large experience in endovascular treatment of below knee occlusive disease for diabetic feet. Dr. Kumar has performed several firsts in vascular surgery in the middle-east as part of the more than 1,000 vascular/endovascular procedures he has done over the last 4 years. These include, the first successful atherectomy in the middle-east as well the first use of a drug eluting peripheral stent. His research interests pertain to both basic science and clinical aspects. He has recently published the first multicentre vascular study in the Middle East, The ABC in PVD study. Previously he has received a grant for Robotic Surgery which he pursued at East Carolina University, North Carolina, USA.
