Sourasky Medical Center (Ichilov)

In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) is available at Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center in Israel. A full IVF cycle costs around $8,900 USD. The clinic is JCI-accredited and led by Prof. Foad Azem, a Yale-trained specialist with 40 years of experience.

About the IVF Program

Prof. Azem directs Israel's oldest IVF center, established in 1984. His team has helped deliver over 4,000 test-tube babies. The center follows a 5-step IVF process:

  • Ovarian stimulation with personalized medication protocols
  • Egg retrieval performed under sedation
  • Fertilization using conventional methods or ICSI
  • Embryo culture monitored by Embryoscope time-lapse imaging
  • Embryo transfer typically on day 2-5

Advanced Monitoring Technology

The clinic uses Embryoscope technology to monitor embryos. This system takes photos every 20 minutes without disturbing the embryos. It helps select the healthiest embryos for transfer.

Package Inclusions

The $8,900 package covers:

  • Full IVF cycle from stimulation to transfer
  • Embryo observation until day-5 transfer
  • Basic monitoring throughout the process

Additional Services

Optional add-ons include:

  • ICSI fertilization for $4,290
  • Donor sperm for $1,140
  • Female fertility work-up for $2,570
  • Male fertility evaluation for $1,380

The center offers genetic testing through Israel Institute of Genetics. Cryopreservation is available for extra embryos. Contact the clinic for personalized treatment planning.

FAQ

Assisted reproductive technologies in IVF

Assisted reproductive technologies (ART) include:

  • intrauterine insemination with sperm;
  • ICSI (ICSI) - injection of sperm into the shell of the egg;
  • IMSI (IMSI) - injection of a selected (healthiest) sperm into an egg;
  • TESA (TESA) - aspiration (biopsy) of several sections of the testicles;
  • TESE (TESE) - sampling of testicular tissue for the subsequent search for viable spermatozoa;
  • cryopreservation (freezing) of eggs, sperm and embryos;
  • donation of eggs, sperm and embryos;
  • surrogacy.

IVF, like other methods of infertility therapy using ART, is performed by doctors on an outpatient basis.

What is included in the full in vitro fertilization program at Bookimed partner clinics?

Often, an IVF program includes:

  • consultation with an obstetrician-gynecologist, embryologist;
  • stimulation of ovulation;
  • receiving eggs (puncture);
  • fertilization of mature eggs;
  • embryo culture (usually 5 days);
  • transfer of embryos (blastocysts) into the uterus.

Before and after IVF, the patient takes a specially selected course of hormonal drugs.

At the end of the second week after the transfer of the embryos, the woman undergoes a pregnancy test, and with a positive result, an ultrasound.

In most cases, doctors combine IVF with other assisted reproductive techniques. For example, blastocyst transfer (on the 5th day of embryo development) increases the chances of successful implantation and reduces the risk of multiple pregnancies. And pre-implantation genetic diagnosis of embryos makes it possible to avoid a number of chromosomal abnormalities.
