Dr. Nuri Alper Sahbaz is an experienced endocrine and general surgeon. He graduated from Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine. He also gained advanced clinical experience at Baylor College of Medicine and The University of Texas Medical School. He holds the European Board of Endocrine Surgery Qualification. Only five surgeons in Turkey have this accreditation.
Dr. Sahbaz focuses on surgeries of the thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal gland, and neuroendocrine tumors. He is skilled in laparoscopic and minimally invasive procedures. He has performed more than 2,000 surgeries in these areas. He is also known for his expertise in diagnostic and therapeutic gastrointestinal endoscopy.

Types of mastectomy
- according to Halsted (removal of pectoralis major and minor muscles and axillary tissue);
- according to Urban (removal of pectoralis major and minor muscles, axillary tissue and lymph nodes);
- according to Patty (removal of the mammary gland and pectoralis minor muscle);
- according to Madden (removal of the gland with preservation of the pectoral muscles).
Benefits of mastectomy:
- the possibility of complete reconstruction of the glands ;
- the chance of recurrence is lower than with lumpectomy.
Disadvantages of breast removal

Side effects of mastectomy

Lymphedema is swelling of the extremities caused by stagnation of lymph after removal of the lymph node.
Edema can develop immediately after surgery, and after a fairly long time.
