  • 1st combined liver-kidney transplant in Western India.
  • 1st split liver transplant (1 cadaver organ divided into 2 parts for 2 recipients) in Western India.
  • 1st auxiliary liver transplantation in Western India. Doctors replace a part of the damaged organ with a small part of a healthy donor liver.

Department of Orthopedics and Joint Replacement

Specialists of the Orthopedics Department specialize in the surgical treatment of joints, tendons, and bones. They correct bone deformities, carry out the reconstruction of the anterior cruciate ligament, joint replacement, and treat bone cancer.

Most of the procedures in Global Hospital Mumbai are minimally invasive (through small incisions in the skin). A patient recovers 2 times faster after minimally invasive operations than after traditional open surgeries. The barely noticeable scar remains after the minimally invasive surgery.

Minimally invasive operations performed by Global Hospital Mumbai doctors:

  • Arthroscopy of the joints. Arthroscopic surgery is the method for treatment of the knee, elbow and shoulder joints diseases. Doctors apply thin instruments and a mini-camera that are inserted through several punctures up to 1 cm.
  • Hip replacement through anterior access. This is the method to replace the affected joint with an artificial one through an incision of up to 10 cm at the front of the thigh. In comparison, the incision size during traditional surgery is 15-25 cm, and a doctor cuts the tendons and ligaments to gain access to the joint. During the minimally invasive joint replacement, the ligaments are moved aside that speeds up the patient’s recovery.

Gastrointestinal Surgery Department

Gastroenterologists of Global Hospital Mumbai have over 10 years of experience in surgery and perform robotic and laparoscopic (through mini incisions) operations. Many of the doctors received training in the USA and Europe.

Doctors of the Department specialize in the surgical treatment of the stomach, intestines, pancreas, and gallbladder diseases.

Gastroenterologists treat such diseases here as:

  • an anal fistula
  • barrett's esophagus (a disorder of the intestinal epithelial layer)
  • an intestinal obstruction
  • gallbladder cancer
  • benign tumors of the gastrointestinal tract
  • a hiatal hernia
  • an inguinal hernia
  • a ruptured spleen.

Weight Loss Surgery Department

Doctors of the Department treat obese patients with a body mass index (BMI) over 30, who cannot lose weight with the help of diets and physical exercises.

Doctors of Global Hospital Mumbai specialize in performing painless minimally invasive bariatric operations. It helps a patient to recover within a few days.

The team of doctors performs such operations as:

  • The gastric band — the installation of a special ring around the stomach, which reduces the volume of the organ and promotes rapid saturation. As a result, a person eats less food at one sitting and loses weight.
  • Sleeve gastrectomy — a method of reducing the stomach in volume with the organ part removal.
  • Gastric bypass surgery — the creation of a special reservoir and a bypass through which food passes the main part of the stomach. Within 6 months after the surgery, a person loses up to 60-70% of excess weight.
  • After the intervention, a nutritionist and a trainer work with a patient. They develop a nutrition and training plan to achieve the longest effect after the operation.

Vaibhav Palekar

GleEagles Hospital, Parel - Review Comments: I got admitted to GlenEagles on 6th of March 2025 under an extremely unfavourable situation. I was almost unconscious and was not aware how the Ambulance Team took me there. On the first day, when Senior Doctor Amit Mandot Sir observed me, he assured my wife that he would stabilize me and make me stand on my own feet within two days. He and his entire hospital staff made those words come to reality. I appreciate all those efforts from my heart. Below is the Staff picture that I took while taking the discharge on 10th March 2025, whoever was available at that time. I wanted to share some of those efforts, which are given below. On the First day, they first gave me proper medicines to ensure my blood parameters were at least close to tolerable range. Then, the Same day night, they removed 6.5 Litres of water, which was the root cause of my unconsciousness. I had Non-Alcoholic Liver Cirrhosis, which was the main cause of all the issues. I got spunging in the early morning on 7th March only. From 8th March onwards, I walked myself without any support to the bath to clean myself. The Hospital's ground staff (Mamas and Mavshis) also helped me in this process. Smt. Sanjana, who was one of the Floor managers for ground staff, also coordinated well. I recommend an award in the annual award ceremony of the hospital for each one of them. The Nurses (Sisters), were also extremely good. Especially the night staff. Whenever I wake up during the night and call for some support, within 3-5 minutes, they are at my bed to provide the necessary support. Within Sister's Staff, I highly recommend for Top award in her Category for Sister Rutuja. She was extremely polite to talk and always had a fresh smile during the entire night till her duty got over. When I checked with her, I got to know that she was just 2 years elder than my Son. Somehow, I started feeling after 1st night that whenever I used to see her, I am looking at my elder daughter. Last but not least, after the first day, the Dietian team planned out my diet depending on the results of my blood report and the Doctor's advice. Every day, I used to get a customized diet in every food that I had, and the Physio Team, who guided me for some basic exercise to maintain my Body weight. when I was admitted I weighed 104 Kg, which was reduced to 94 Kg on the day of Discharge. I am really, really thankful to the entire Hospital for bringing me my life back and guiding me to maintain my health.

They have really friendly staff and are real nice! Even doctors are real nice and honest! Previous doctor had advised me to operate on very small tumour of mine in a hurry and i took a second opinion and after evaluation by the gastro team lead by doctor Meghraj ingle they decided that it was too small and benign and asymptotic and didn't need any surgery as of now as and didn't choose to operate! Patient first is their actual motto! They have advanced technologies and procedures. I appreciate the help they provided.

The facilities are modern, clean, and well-maintained, creating a comfortable and reassuring environment. They took the time to explain every step of my son treatment and made sure all my concerns were addressed. The efficiency of the administrative staff also made the entire process smooth and stress-free. I highly recommend Gleneagles Hospital for anyone seeking high-quality healthcare services. Their commitment to excellence truly sets them apart
