About

Updated 29.04.2022

Northern Cyprus , Nicosia

Near East University Hospital was opened in 2010. It comprises 36 departments and 8 operating rooms. The medical team counts 600 people.

Why do patients choose Near East University Hospital for treatment?

  • Cutting-edge equipment. Doctors use the latest type of PET/CT device. It allows detecting tumors up to 1 mm in diameter. The clinic is equipped with a RapidArc radiation therapy unit, which irradiates cancer cells precisely possible and almost does not affect healthy ones.
  • Awards for the supreme quality of treatment and success in hospital management. The Middle East University Hospital has received the International Socrates Award, International Arch of Europe Award.

Cancer treatment

The medical team of the Oncology Department carries out the treatment of all types of cancer. Medical oncologists, chemo specialists, radiotherapists, surgeons study each case to develop an individual treatment program. This approach makes therapy more efficient and keeps the medical error to a minimum.

Applied treatment methods:

  • surgery
  • drug therapy: chemo-, immuno-, and targeted therapies
  • tumor irradiation on the latest RapidArc unit with a session lasting only 2-3 minutes
  • brachytherapy (local radiation).

Heart Surgery and Heart Transplant Department

Heart surgeons carry out all types of operations on the heart and blood vessels:

  • coronary artery bypass grafting
  • aortic/mitral valve replacement or correction
  • carotid artery surgery
  • ultrasound/laser treatment for varicose veins.

Artificial heart transplantation

Doctors perform a transplant of a mechanical heart. The artificial organ temporarily acts as the heart until a compatible donor is found for the patient.

North Cyprus Near East University is the first and only private clinic in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus which provides this operation.

Orthopedics

The orthopedic team treats diseases of the musculoskeletal system and sports injuries. Patients undergo rehabilitation on the premises of the department.

Key procedures:

  • knee and hip joints replacement
  • arthroscopic operations on ligaments and joints. Doctors provide these interventions through small punctures made by micro-instruments and use a mini-camera for higher accuracy. After arthroscopic procedures, the patient recovers faster than after open operations.

Plastic surgery

The Plastic Surgery Department consists of several subunits:

  • aesthetic surgery — procedures to improve the appearance of various parts of the body, incl. nose job (rhinoplasty), breast augmentation/reduction, otoplasty, liposuction, tummy tuck and others
  • reconstructive surgery — restoration of the body areas affected by illness or surgery
  • laser therapy for scars and burns
  • hair transplant center — a patient can undergo hair plantation by the latest FUE method. Doctors transplant grafts, bundles of several hairs from the donor zone to the area suffered from hair loss.

Infertility treatment

Doctors treat infertility in men and women and help to conceive.

The primary method is IVF (in vitro fertilization), which consists of 5 main steps:

  • stimulation of ovulation in women
  • egg collection
  • semen collection
  • egg IVF by a spermatozoid
  • the embryo introduction into the uterus.

Accommodation:

International patients live in separate wards. A ward has an adjustable bed, bathroom, TV.

The hospital has 209 single rooms and 22 VIP rooms.
