IVF treatment at Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center (Ichilov) in Tel Aviv, Israel costs $8,900 to $9,900. The center is led by Prof. Foad Azem, who has 41 years of experience in reproductive medicine. Since 1984, over 4,000 babies have been born through the center's IVF program.
The IVF process includes five main steps. First, doctors induce superovulation and monitor it with blood tests and ultrasounds. Second, they retrieve eggs from the ovaries. Third, they collect sperm from the partner or a donor. Fourth, they incubate the egg and sperm in the laboratory. Finally, they transfer the embryo to the uterus when it has 4-8 cells, typically after 2-5 days.
Advanced Technology and Methods
The center uses an Embryoscope time-lapse incubator. This device takes images of embryos every 20 minutes. It monitors embryos continuously without removing them from the incubator. This technology helps improve pregnancy chances.
The laboratory has three high-resolution microscopes for ICSI procedures. ICSI is used when male infertility is present. A single sperm is injected directly into an egg. This method helps couples with poor sperm quality or low sperm count.
Genetic Testing Services
The center performs pre-implantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) and screening (PGS). These tests are done on early embryos. The center works with the Institute of Genetics for this service. Genetic testing helps select the healthiest embryos before transfer.
The laboratory has separate sterile areas for genetic tests. It uses advanced equipment for molecular genetic testing. All equipment is monitored continuously.
Additional Services and Costs
Initial consultations and tests are required before IVF. A gynecologist-reproductologist consultation with ultrasound costs $650-$750. A urologist-andrologist consultation costs $650-$750. Laboratory diagnostics packages cost $460 each. A spermogram costs $220-$270.
The center also offers intrauterine insemination (IUI) for $840. Donor sperm is available for $1,140. The laboratory has two cryopreservation systems for storing embryos and eggs.
