Lipolysis in Mexico can offer significant cost savings, but it's crucial to weigh the potential benefits against the risks.

Pros Cons
Lower costs. Lipolysis in Mexico starts at $2,000 compared to $3,500–$5,000 in the US, offering up to 60% savings. Safety concerns. Potential risks include infection rates of 2–4% and minor burns or swelling. These are similar to rates in the US and can be minimized by selecting accredited clinics.
Qualified surgeons. Surgeons are often certified by the Mexican Council of Plastic Surgery (CMCPER), with many having international training and over 10 years of experience. Follow-up care. Potential risks include logistical challenges for post-op visits or urgent care, but some clinics offer telemedicine support.
Modern facilities. Clinics use advanced laser systems (brands like Lumenis or Cynosure) and are accredited by ISO 9001 and COFEPRIS. Different regulatory standards. COFEPRIS standards differ from the FDA, but leading clinics align with ISO and international protocols to ensure safety.
Minimally invasive recovery. Lipolysis is less invasive than traditional liposuction, with quicker recovery times and reduced downtime when performed by qualified specialists. Procedure-specific risks. Potential risks include mild contour irregularities or temporary numbness, which occur in 3–5% of cases and resolve with proper aftercare.
Personal coordinator support. Bookimed’s medical coordinator helps compare clinics, request personalized quotes, and manage treatment logistics at no additional cost.

It's crucial to thoroughly research clinics and verify surgeon credentials before making a decision. When performed by qualified professionals in reputable facilities, lipolysis in Mexico can offer safe, effective results with substantial savings.

I like how fast and easy it was from the start. The surgical facility was small but worked fine. I did not like the post op care. The night nurse was terrible. Her patients were not a priority. Post op care was not made clear. I would have preferred more detailed instructions on after care. I was left guessing about bandages, sprays, medications and scar treatment. Doctor repaired a hernia, of which I was grateful, but would have preferred to have price list in case this occurred so I could have been prepared financially. I felt like price was just made up. So I don't know if I was overcharged. I liked Mexicali as it was a nice quiet clean town. All in all experience was not bad and the price was affordable.
