How Much Does Ab Implants Cost in Mexico?

The cost of ab implants in Mexico typically ranges from $3,500 to $7,000. Pricing can vary depending on the clinic, the surgeon’s experience, the type of silicone implant, and whether additional sculpting procedures are done. In the United States, the average price is $15,000 (per ASPS). This means ab implant surgery in Mexico is about 65% less than in the U.S.

Most Mexican clinics include pre-op tests, general anesthesia, high-quality silicone implants, one night in the hospital, prescription medications, and post-op follow-up visits. In the U.S., the quoted price often covers only the surgeon’s fee, with separate charges for anesthesia, implants, and hospital stay. Always confirm exactly what’s included in your package at each clinic.

Ab Implants in Mexico: Pros and Cons

Ab implants in Mexico can offer significant cost savings, but it's crucial to weigh the potential benefits against the risks.

Pros Cons
Lower costs. Ab implants in Mexico typically cost $3,000–$3,500 compared to $6,000+ in the US, offering savings of up to 50%. Safety concerns. Potential risks include infection rates of 2–5%, hematoma, or implant shifting, similar to US rates when performed by qualified surgeons.
Qualified surgeons. Surgeons are certified by the Mexican Council of Plastic Surgery (CMCPER), with many trained in US or European programs and years of experience in body contouring procedures. Follow-up care. Post-surgery check-ups may require travel back to Mexico, but clinics often offer telemedicine support and detailed aftercare instructions.
Modern facilities. Procedures are performed in accredited hospitals in Tijuana and Cancun, using FDA-approved silicone implants and equipment from international brands. Many facilities have ISO or JCI accreditation. Different regulatory standards. COFEPRIS standards differ from the FDA, but top clinics adhere to international protocols and often use FDA-approved materials.
Faster scheduling. Wait times for ab implants are typically shorter in Mexico, with surgery dates available within weeks. Travel-related risks. Potential risks include travel stress, longer recovery away from home, or complications during flights, but these can be minimized by following medical travel guidelines.
Personal coordinator support. Bookimed’s medical coordinator helps compare clinics, request personalized quotes, and manage treatment logistics at no additional cost.

It's crucial to thoroughly research clinics and verify surgeon credentials before making a decision. Patients should carefully research and choose reputable, board-certified providers to optimize safety and results when seeking ab implants in Mexico.

The experience I had with Dr Marroquin far exceed my expectations. I am an American living in Miami, FL. I inquired with surgeons locally before deciding to travel abroad for my deep plane face and neck lift with blepharoplasty. After extensive research I found Dr Marroquin, I read through all the patient testimonials I could find and looked at all his before and after photos. I reached out to him via Bookimed. At first I thought I was being scammed, the people at Bookimed did not speak very good english, I could tell I was communicating with a non native english or spanish speaker. The communications came in at weird hours of the day. After a few back and forth, I said I would not proceed any further without speaking with someone from Dr Marroquins office. That same day someone claiming to be Dr Marroquin contacted me on Whatsapp. I thought for sure it was a scam, so at first I ignored him. In Miami you would have to be dying in order for the surgeon to speak with you directly. I told him I was feeling uneasy and he suggested we set up a video call for later that day, I thought there is no way its going to be him on the phone, and sure enough it was him! He took his personal time on a Sunday to call me. We spoke for almost an hour, and at the end of that call I was 100% sure this was my doctor. He is so down to earth and approachable, he made me feel so at ease. I let him know the next day I wanted to proceed with the surgery, from that point on I only communicated with him. He helped me to schedule the surgery, my preop appointments and made recommendations for recovery houses. In less than a month I arrived in Guadalajara, he met with me the next day and we discussed the surgery in length. At that point I decided to add a lip lift to the procedure. I passed all my preop and had my surgery on August 26th. Dr Marroquin was amazing the day of surgery, he spoke to me in english (which he speaks very well), he made sure I understood every step of the process. Everything went very well, I spent the next 10 days in Mexico recovering at a recovery house. I spoke with Dr Marroquin every day while I was there. I had zero complications and flew home after 10 days to continue my recovery at home. I am 3 months post op and I have zero regrets. I speak with Dr Marroquin every few weeks and keep him updated on my progress with photos. If you are considering this surgery, I 100% recommend having a consultation with Dr Marroquin, he is an amazing doctor and human being.
I liked how personal the service was, I really got to know my doctor and felt 100% at ease with him.
I wish I would have waited for the recovery house I wanted to use to have availability. They were booked up so I decided to use another one that was not as highly rated. It was not a bad experience, but it could have been better.

The hospital advertised was not the one I went to. The operating room was thrown together i my opinion. Hardly anyone spoke English so I had a difficult time with the forms. I didn't even get a copy. After the surgery I was left on my back overnight night and was told I'll be ok. Once finally discharged the next morning, I only received antibiotics and ibuprofen. No instructions on how and what to do afterwards. I felt like they did what they was supposed to and dropped me off in the streets to fend for myself
How close it was from my home
The facility, language barrier and no instructions

The surgeon was good but the coordinator Carlo made too many mistakes. 1. Didn’t book continuous days at hotel. 2. As a result, I was kicked out of room the day I was in surgery. . 2. Need more after care days to remove drainage. I was abruptly kicked out of TJ while I was still feeling weak. Needed more days in Tijuana. At least 2 more. Return to America and no one wanted to remove drainage tubes. 3. The day nurse talked bad about me to everyone. The night nurse , Paulina was perfect. I would never recommend surgery in Mexico. No need to go viral with this because all of USA know this. Mexican are much better at picking fruits!

Dr Marroquin was/is available nearly immediately with WhatsApp and addressed all my concerns and questions with a speed and efficiency one can't get in the US
Top notch facilities, very attentive staff and Dr Marroquin was / is available nearly immediately with WhatsApp and addressed all my concerns and questions with a speed and efficiency one can't get in the US. My recovery at FCH Hotel was very good as well. Is in a great area of Guadalajara, totally safe and lots of dining options.
Competence of Dr and staff.
Nothing signifigant to criticise, went fairly smooth.

Their staff was very accommodating and thoughtful - everyone was super nice and considerate, especially Sara and Maria
First off, I used Aura Wellness Center, instead of Alice Beauty Clinic. And, their staff was very accommodating and thoughtful - everyone was super nice and considerate, especially Sara and Maria. Sara was the best English speaker there and helped me with everything. Maria was kind, warm, and also a great English speaker. They made it less lonely since I had this journey alone. Through Bookimed, I was assisted by Confidence, she was super thoughtful and checked up on me. She made sure I had connections with my medical coordinator and doctor. My coordinator was named Carlos. He was kind, answering all my questions and even texted me after my surgery numerous time to ensure I was recovering and satisfied with my results. My doctor was Dr. Ayala. I can't say much about him since he was in and out of the surgery room. I met him briefly. And, I'm unsure of my results as I am only one month post-op.
The staff at the clinic was accommodating. The coordinator from Bookimed and from the doctor ensured my questions were answered.
Dr. Ayala's brevity and lack of check up after the surgery. I didn't meet him more than 15 (when I was conscious since I was under anesthesia when he operated on me).

my results are far and beyond my wildest expectations
The staff were UNBELIEVABLY kind! I felt I was well listened to, my needs were met, and my results are far and beyond my wildest expectations. If I decide to have more plastic surgery, I will, without hesitation come back here.
How I was listened to and cared for and Dr. Ayala's warm, affable nature.
There were some bumps in terms of communication initially that was frustrating, but we got over that quickly and it stopped being an issue

I felt like both were done taking exactly what I wanted into account and the overall symmetry at the end for my nostrils was excellent - my nose had been broken and before surgery lack of symmetry was a big issue
I had a really great experience with my doctor and care here. I wanted a very natural looking nose, not to look "doll-like" or like I had a rhinoplasty. Same for lip filler. I felt like both were done taking exactly what I wanted into account and the overall symmetry at the end for my nostrils was excellent - my nose had been broken and before surgery lack of symmetry was a big issue. I believe it required different degrees of cutting for each nostril so I'm very impressed that the end result's symmetry appears less than 1mm different from one another, that's a huge improvement from before. The shape is really nice and I was impressed that after surgery the packing was done in such a way that I was able to breathe through my nose the whole time, even during my recovery.

Hospital fine, clean decent staff Got gynecomastia surgery, emintha into healing moderately okay results, had maybe grade one maybe grade 2 gyno, got glands removed as I was very lean, Surgeon made long incisions, along my chest, have two ling 3 Inch scars on either side of my nipples on both side of my chest Fland wasn't fully removed on my left side so have recurring gyno, Need steriod injection to help with scaring, surgeon isn't competent enough to go through the nipples to leave no scarring, Pictures they send of before and after are a lie, Probably look worse than before cant take my top off after, The response to this was get laser treatment or steriod injections Sub par save your money go somewhere else Probably the same for most procedures they do

The staff and doctors were extremely knowledgeable and very supportive to all of my care needs
The staff and doctors were extremely knowledgeable and and very supportive to all of my care needs. Everyone was very personable and caring and consistent at every turn. I felt safe and confident. Even more so than when n the states.
I liked how Dr Navarro came in and administered my tests himself. That never happens in the states.
I honestly can’t think of anything negative to say.

Terrible surgeon. Will not take the time to speak with you, when he does he knows limited English and is very very rushed. The first time me he gave me results that were so drastic I looked like a pig or someone from who-ville. I had to pay for a second surgery for him to give me my old nose but even worse! (Again super rushed, had zero time to make a decision). Absolutely awful experience. Scary. He refused to even try to fix my nose now for another 6 months. Even though I offered to pay again. Have to date and see friends humiliated with a half finished face. Go to someone with talent and who actually cares. He doesn’t. You are just a number to the surgeons there.

FAQ about Ab Implants in Mexico

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

What measures are in place to ensure hygiene and safety standards at clinics offering ab implants in Mexico?

Reputable clinics adhere to strict hygiene protocols similar to those found internationally, often following guidelines from organizations like ISAPS. These include sterilization processes, use of disposable equipment where applicable, and maintaining a clean surgical environment. Confirm these measures during your initial consultation.

Are there any hidden costs or additional expenses I should anticipate when planning for ab implants in Mexico?

While most clinics provide comprehensive packages, additional costs may include medications, pre-surgical tests not covered by the package, or extended stays due to unforeseen complications. Always request a detailed breakdown of costs upfront and inquire about possible extra charges.

How do I arrange for transportation and accommodation during my stay for the surgery in Mexico?

Many clinics offer packages that include transportation from the airport to the clinic and back, as well as accommodation arrangements. Verify these details when booking your procedure to ensure a hassle-free experience. Consider proximity to the clinic when selecting accommodation for convenience.

What should I expect in terms of post-operative care and support while I'm still in Mexico?

Post-operative care typically includes regular check-ups with your surgeon, pain management, and guidance on activity restrictions. Clinics often provide 24/7 medical attention and support during your stay, ensuring a smooth recovery process. Confirm what is included in your package before arrival.

Will my health insurance cover any part of the procedure if it's done in Mexico?

Most health insurance plans do not cover elective cosmetic procedures performed abroad. Check with your insurance provider for specific details regarding coverage for complications or emergency care related to the surgery. Consider purchasing travel insurance that includes medical coverage for added protection.

How do I handle follow-up care once I return home after the procedure in Mexico?

Many clinics offer virtual consultations via video calls for follow-up care once you return home. It's important to have a local healthcare provider available for any immediate concerns or emergencies post-surgery. Ensure you have all necessary medical records and instructions before leaving Mexico.

What are the potential risks and complications associated with ab implants that I should be aware of?

Potential risks of ab implants include infection, implant displacement, asymmetry, and scarring. Discuss these risks thoroughly with your surgeon during the consultation, and ensure that you understand the post-operative care required to minimize complications.

Are there any language barriers I should be concerned about when communicating with medical staff in Mexico?

Many medical staff in Mexican clinics catering to international patients speak English fluently. However, it's advisable to confirm this beforehand or request an interpreter if needed. Clinics often provide bilingual coordinators to assist with communication throughout your stay.

What is the typical recovery time after getting ab implants, and how should I plan my stay in Mexico accordingly?

The typical recovery time for ab implants is about 4 to 6 weeks, with initial recovery requiring at least 1 to 2 weeks. Plan to stay in Mexico for at least a week post-surgery for follow-up appointments and immediate post-operative care. Ensure your travel arrangements allow flexibility in case additional recovery time is needed.

How do I verify the credentials and reputation of a clinic in Mexico?

To verify a clinic's credentials, look for accreditation from reputable organizations such as ISAPS or JCI, and check online reviews from previous patients. Request information on the clinic's safety protocols and the surgeon's qualifications, including board certifications and memberships in professional associations.

What are the qualifications and experience of surgeons performing ab implants in Mexico?

Surgeons in Mexico who perform ab implants often have extensive training, with many having completed residencies or fellowships abroad. They may be members of international organizations like the ISAPS or the Mexican Association of Plastic, Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery. Always check for board certification and years of experience in cosmetic surgery.

Is it safe to get ab implants in Mexico compared to my home country?

Ab implant procedures in Mexico can be safe if performed by board-certified surgeons who adhere to international standards.
