How Much Does Breast Implant Revision Cost in Republic of Korea?

Breast implant revision in the Republic of Korea typically costs from $6,500 to $10,700. The final price depends on the corrective complexity, implant brand choice, and clinic location in hubs like Seoul. Patients save around 25% compared to the US, where the procedure costs $11,500 on average. Most Korean clinics bundle anesthesia, pre-operative testing, and post-surgical medications into the total cost.

  • Breast implant removal: $3,500 to $6,200 for the extraction of existing implants.
  • Advanced implant brands: Premium options like Motiva or Mentor Xtra typically increase costs by 30-40%.
  • Capsular contracture treatment: More complex revisions involving scar tissue removal generally require a 20% premium.
  • Gangnam district clinics: Facilities in this Seoul hub may cost 20% more than regional centers.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Choosing a KAHF-accredited center like JK Plastic Surgery Center offers verified safety for international patients. While premium revisions at Wonjin Plastic Surgery Clinic range from $15,000 to $16,850, the value lies in specialized 3D-CT imaging. These advanced scans, also used at VG Plastic Surgery, ensure precision in complex redo cases. This technology often reduces the need for future corrective surgeries.

Data verified by Bookimed as of March 2026, based on patient requests and official quotes from 204 clinics worldwide. Median costs are based on real invoices (2025–2026) and updated monthly. Actual prices may vary.

The competence, careful attitude and attention to every little detail is what I really liked
I would like to thank my doctor for his careful attention to my difficult situation. The competence, careful attitude and attention to every little detail is what I really liked. Now I am still recovering and the final result is still far away, but I believe that everything will be fine. I would like to mention my coordinator-translator Jena. She is a very nice girl who helped me during my stay. Kind, nice, responsible and competent. She made me feel very comfortable. Thank you very much to the doctor, Jena and the clinic staff for everything. I will definitely recommend to my friends.

I couldn't have asked for more!
I had surgery done in Korea 2 weeks ago. Bookimed had recommended a few clinics and surgeons initially and I chose VG Plastic Surgery Clinic. Ms. Queen at Bookimed helped with getting answers to many of my questions from the clinic. She followed up with me frequently and continues to do so after my surgery. Bookimed made it easier for me to narrow down on the clinic and surgeon, which I appreciated given the number of surgeons and clincs available in Korea! Ms. Queen at Bookimed assisted with setting up an initial virtual consultation with VG surgery clinic where I met Dr. Choi and Jenny (VG's coordinator and interpreter). After arriving in Korea, I had an in-person consultation with Dr. Choi and Jenny, they listened to my concerns and suggested an alternate surgery method. At the end, my surgical plan was adjusted and finalized. I really appreciated that they listened to my concerns, provided an alternative and adjusted accordingly. I believed my surgery went well since this was my first experience. Jenny at VG was terrific! She acted as my interpreter and organized my recovery services at the clinic. Jenny was accessible during my stay in Korea. I couldn't have asked for more! I flew home after 10 days and slowly recovering now at home. At this point (2 weeks), I am seeing more improvements. I can't wait to see my final results which will be in 3 to 6 months. I am hoping it will be as good as I imagine!
Dr. Choi's expertise and the fact that he listed to my concerns, provided a viable alternative and adjusted accordingly. Also really appreciated that they had interpreter for foreigners who did not speak the language and that they are accessible at all time.
Nurses during surgery were a bit mechanical. I am sure they are in surgeries all day and for them it is routine but for the patient, this could be their first time. A gentler approach would have helped to ease the anxiety.

I would highly recommend this clinic for its quality service and professionalism
I am very pleased with my choice of this clinic. From the very beginning the communication with the clinic staff was fast and of high quality. I chose from 3 clinics. It was in this clinic that I got the best price and quality service before and after the procedure. I had a second rhinoplasty. The doctor did just a jewellery work with my nose. Very carefully, without much interference, he corrected the flaws from the first surgery I had a couple of years ago in Turkey. I am very happy with the result. My nose is now straight and neat. I was also very pleased with the service at the clinic after the operation. I had all the necessary procedures to reduce the swelling immediately after the operation and then during the week I still came a couple of times for procedures, so the recovery took literally a week. Special thanks to the assistant Joan. She was always in touch and very supportive throughout my stay in Korea. I would highly recommend this clinic for its quality service and professionalism.

By far the most attentive care I have EVER gotten in medicine—again, thanks especially to Joanne, who even walked me back to my hotel across the street post-op
One would fear that flying to a foreign country where you don’t know the language would be stressful and scary. Not only did the staff (Joanne <3!) make that all a cakewalk, the clinic’s aftercare was top notch, they really went above and beyond for me. And I am NOT an easy patient—I need to know every chemical in the anesthesia, I negotiate different antibiotics, make them go over my 21 daily supplements, etc—I kept them BUSY and was shown nothing but continual grace and warmth, and was always responded to promptly. By far the most attentive care I have EVER gotten in medicine—again, thanks especially to Joanne, who even walked me back to my hotel across the street post op. As for the surgery outcome, I didn’t even need a Tylenol it was that painless, I was able to walk around and enjoy Seoul every day after my mini lift, and although I’m still swollen at just under two weeks out, I already look ten years younger and am loving what I’m seeing. Dr. Park knows what he is doing, he’s done 3000+ facelifts (yes I asked), he has superb attention to detail, a true artist’s hand, and is a friendly and gentlemanly doctor!

I give Saero Plastic Surgery a 5 because they exceeded my expectations
Dr. Pak is very knowledgeable and professional. It has been over a week sonce my surgery and see.s that everything is healing well. He prescribed a pack of antibiotics and pain killers for me to take for 5 days. The medication worked great because I was at a very minimal pain. His staff walked me through everything I needed from the US to Korea. I felt confident that I was in good hands and I was. The interpreter did a great good Interpreting everything I needed to ask the doctor and addressed all my concerns. I give Saero Plastic Surgery a 5 because they exceeded my expectations. Definitely recommend to everyone.

Now two months after surgery, I am quite happy with the shape of my new eyelids
The medical team members are so friendly and helpful. Although I speak zero Korean, I can sense their passion and empathy, which dramatically reduced my anxiety to go through the surgery. They are very supportive from the right beginning to the end when I left Seoul. And big thanks to the assistance from Yena, who provides detailed before and after care instructions rather than just working as an interpreter. Now two months after surgery, I am quite happy with the shape of my new eyelids. They look much younger and alert.

All medical staff and the doctor were wonderful throughout my treatment journey. Nurses were very kind, attentive and very thoughtful. I’m so touched by their attitude and thoughtfulness, especially after my surgery. the translator Joanne was excellent and very attentive
t was a great experience, the doctor was good, but could have been more attentive. The staff are a little curt when it comes to customer service, but the translator Joanne was excellent and very attentive, there was also a very friendly older nurse. And there were also free therapeutic treatments that I really liked. Now I need to wait for the results to give a real assessment of whether the treatment was really good.

The experience for me, in general, was excellent, I would go back to the Dr
I was very pleased with the attention I received from the first day I arrived at the clinic. The interpreter was able to communicate perfectly to the surgeon what I wanted to be done and what my expectations were. I loved the hospitality of the Medical Team, all very attentive, very concerned about whether I was feeling well or not, reminding me of my check-ups, cleaning, suture removal, giving me all the information for the post-operative period, giving me light and oxygen therapy sessions to improve and accelerate the results of my recovery. The clinic is located in a very central place in Gangnam, it is easy to get there. It is very close to the flat that the clinic provides during your stay until the first check-up. The clinic is spacious, well-lit, very clean, with flexible opening hours for post-operative care. The real estate is very comfortable, they have coffee and tea so that you can help yourself. And, they don't keep you waiting. Everything works as scheduled. And, additionally, they provided me with help on how to get around the city, how to get to the tourist attractions, to the shops where they sell skin care products, etc. The experience for me, in general, was excellent, I would go back to the Dr. and I recommend him 100% to those people who are looking for a good clinic where they can have surgery with the full confidence that everything will go very well.
I loved that the Dr. was very patient in understanding exactly what I wanted, thanks to the interpreter I was able to make the Dr. understand everything perfectly. I also liked very much the attention of the medical team that continued to see me the days after the surgery and the warmth and kindness of each one of them. As well as giving me all the instructions I had to follow, they gave me the creams I had to use so that the swelling and bruising would disappear more quickly.
I have nothing to complain about the Clinic, the Dr., the medical team, the interpreter and the care I received before, during and after my surgery. I just think that I should have stayed longer in South Korea to get to see more beautiful places.
About Bookimed service
Bookimed made it easy for me to have a person who speaks my language to assist me whenever I had questions about the different alternatives of plastic surgery clinics that I could ask to evaluate me and give me a quote. When I had already decided on the clinic I wanted to go to, the person who assisted me very kindly answered all the questions I had after I had made my choice. She sent me all the information I asked for about the clinic, the background of the Dr. who was going to operate on me, health permits, health registration of the Dr., validity of his professional title, etc. Everything I needed to make sure I made a very informed decision and knew everything about the clinic, the Dr, the place where I would be operated on, where the clinic was located, where I would be staying from the day of the surgery until a week later and, obviously, how much I was going to be charged. There was only one difference with respect to the initial budget, but it was because once I was in the clinic I added a part of my face that had not been contemplated before. But even so, the final price did not increase too much compared to what I was charged at other clinics in South Korea.

Most of all, I just wanted to say that I recommend VG because of the wonderful consideration, kindness, and support that I received there
I would like to share my experience with BookiMed and their recommmendation, VG (Very Good) Plastic Surgery. Doctor: Dr. Im Young Min Procedures: Deep plane facelift, mid-face lift with fat graft, sub-brow lift, lower blepharoplasty Referral: I had been wanting to get this surgery for quite a long time, but didn't know which clinic would be best, so I applied to Bookimed who gave me several quotes/recommendations based on my needs. I liked the procedures suggested by VG Plastic Surgery the best and I saw that they had good reviews online, so I set up a consultation. Consultation: At the consultation, several photos were taken in order to analyze the surgery and what would work best for me. The doctor suggested a sub-brow lift for my sagging eyelid skin, a deep plane facelift and a midface lift to address the loss of volume and sagging along with a fat graft to restore the volume to my cheeks, and a lower blepharoplasty to address the hollowness under my eyes along with the malar edema. I worked with Smile, one of the consultants who was very helpful and went over everything with me including all of the options and prices. She was very professional but warm, which is one reason that I decided to go with VG over other clinics. Pre-Surgery Check-up: A few days before my surgery, I went in for a checkup where they did a chest x-ray and a blood test to make sure my body was healthy enough for the surgery. I met with Dr. Im, my surgeon, to go over the plan for the surgery and make sure everything was in place. I met another consultant, Lily, who interpreted everything for me and made sure that everything was clear and comfortable for me. Surgery: The day of surgery, I did an interview about the procedure and how I was feeling prior to the surgery as well as taking several "before" photos to use as comparison. I had also fasted for 8 hours (food and water). The surgery was very smooth, but I believe it lasted a long time- between 6-8 hours as there were many procedures being done. I had to have a breathing tube, which was quite uncomfortable for the first 12 hours after surgery, but I was glad that the doctors took every precaution. They also put in drains in my neck and inside my mouth to keep blood and fluid from pooling under my skin as well as a catheter. Post-Surgery: After surgery, I was taken to a private room for recovery. I stayed in the room for about 24 hours and the nurses took very good care of me, coming in to replace the ice packs for my face, check on my catheter and incisions and just making sure I was comfortable. I was eventually able to have water, then some soy milk, and finally some porridge when I was ready. Lily and Smile checked on me several times to be sure everything was alright and to translate for me. The next day before leaving the hospital, the bandages were removed and Dr. Im came in and checked on me to make sure that everything had gone well. Lily, Smile and another consultant, Jenny, were there to interpret and to make sure I was alright. They removed the catheter and cleaned the incisions, replacing them with clean bandages. I also did an oxygen treatment in a hyperbaric chamber, which was very relaxing. I took a taxi home with Smile's support. Scary Moment: One thing that happened that was a bit scary for me was that I wasn't prepared for how much my eyes would swell up after the surgery. I felt like my bandages were bursting (and the nurse helped me to relieve some of the pressure) and when I looked at myself the day after the surgery, I wasn't prepared for what I saw. The veins in my eyes burst, making them completely red and my eyes swelled up so much I could barely see. This was scary for me as I had not seen this in any of the videos I had watched prior when doing my research. The staff assured me it was normal and that it would go back down, but I guess I'd say that for the first 2-3 days after the surgery, I was pretty worried that something was wrong. The ointment I was applying to keep the incisions clean also coated my eyes from time to time blurring my vision, which was scary, but the consultant assured me this was only because of the medication. I went back to the clinic after 3 days for a check-up and to have my incisions cleaned and the blood drains emptied. Each time I visited the clinic, I was given an oxygen treatment and several photos were taken for documentation. After the swelling in my eyes went down, my recovery progressed quickly. I had more visits (at 7 days, 10 days, 14 days and then 3 weeks) to remove stitches and drains and to monitor my progress. At 7 days, I was given a complimentary hair wash as well, which was very relaxing and such a relief. I also wore a head brace/wrap to keep my face from moving around too much for about a month. I did take it off to sleep at times because it felt tight, but I tried to keep it on during the day for the most part. Conclusion: I am now 5 months post-op, and I am very happy with my results. I feel that my concerns were addressed, and that I look younger and fresher, but still like myself, which was always the goal of this surgery for me. I feel a renewed vigor and like I look like the person I have always been, if that makes sense. I still have some puffiness under my eyes at times, especially when I have built up fluid retention or am very tired, and I am still working to find the cause/solution for this. I believe it is related to lymphatic drainage, so I understand that the surgery could not fully correct this issue, although I do feel like it is better than before. Most of all, I just wanted to say that I recommend VG because of the wonderful consideration, kindness, and support that I received there. From the way that the consultants went out of their way to help and support me, not just through translation, but by encouraging me and helping me, to the care the nurses gave me, to the skill that Dr. Im and his staff in the operating room showed, I am very happy. The scars from my incisions are unnoticeable and will most likely become completely invisible with time, and I feel that my surgery goals were reached. A big thanks to VG Surgery and their staff. I would also like to thank Bookimed for helping me to find this clinic and giving me the information I needed to make my decision.
The customer service and attention from the staff at VG was the best part of my experience. They were all very caring and attentive.
I would have liked to have more post-op consultation with the surgeon and to have been able to ask him more about my questions/concerns.
About Bookimed service
Bookimed was very prompt and responsive, giving me several choices and listening to my concerns and feelings about everything. They recommended several clinics and this gave me a lot of options to consider before making my decision. It's difficult to trust online reviews, so I really appreciated having another level of research before making a choice.

FAQ about Breast Implant Revision in Republic of Korea

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

Is breast implant revision surgery safe, and what are the major risks?

Breast implant revision surgery is safe and maintains a high success rate when performed by board-certified specialists. Procedures in the Republic of Korea utilize advanced safety systems and rigorous standards, such as KOIHA and JCI accreditations, to minimize complications from scar tissue or anatomical changes.

  • Capsular contracture: Tightening of scar tissue around the implant causing pain or distortion.
  • Implant displacement: Shifting from the original position, which may lead to breast asymmetry.
  • BIA-ALCL: A rare immune system cancer linked specifically to certain textured implant capsules.
  • Sensation changes: Temporary or permanent numbness affecting the breast or nipple area sensitivity.

Bookimed Expert Insight: South Korean clinics like JK Plastic Surgery Center report a 100 percent success rate across thousands of procedures. This high performance often stems from a local medical trend focused on downsizing implants. Smaller revisions reduce long-term tissue stress compared to the larger `upping` trends seen elsewhere.

Patient Consensus: Patients emphasize that while infection rates are low in Seoul, anesthesia-related nausea is common. Many recommend waiting 14 days before flying to avoid blood clot risks during long-haul travel.

How is the revision operation performed, and will new implants be used?

Breast implant revision in South Korea is performed under general anesthesia, typically taking 1 to 3 hours. Surgeons usually access the site through the original inframammary fold incision. The procedure involves removing old implants, performing a capsulectomy if scar tissue is present, and inserting new silicone devices.

  • Surgical access: Surgeons reuse original incisions to minimize new scarring during the 1–3 hour procedure.
  • Capsule management: Options include total or en bloc capsulectomy to remove internal scar tissue effectively.
  • New implants: Standard practice uses new silicone implants from premium brands like Motiva or Mentor.
  • Recovery timeline: Most patients are mobile within 48 hours with full recovery in 1–2 weeks.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Global patients often choose Seoul for revisions because clinics like JK Plastic Surgery Center have performed over 85,000 procedures. Data shows a trend where Korean surgeons suggest upsizing with Motiva implants for a fuller aesthetic. Always confirm your specific brand in writing to ensure premium devices are used instead of local generics.

Patient Consensus: Patients emphasize the importance of requesting en bloc removal if concerned about silicone leaks. Many survivors of previous surgeries noted that recovery was surprisingly quick, with most returning to light activity within 2 days.

How long does recovery take, and when can I fly home?

Most patients can safely fly home from South Korea 10 to 14 days after breast implant revision. Initial recovery requires 5 to 7 days of rest, while returning to strenuous exercise typically takes 8 to 12 weeks. Board-certified surgeons in Seoul ensure stable incisions before clearing international travel.

  • Initial rest: Expect 5 to 7 days of bedrest, often with surgical drains in place.
  • Flying window: Travel is usually permitted after 10 days once swelling and clot risks decrease.
  • Activity levels: Light walking is encouraged after 1 week to maintain healthy blood circulation.
  • Full recovery: Complete healing and gym clearance generally require 2 to 3 months.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While basic recovery matches primary augmentation, revision cases at top Seoul clinics like Wonjin Plastic Surgery Clinic often involve more complex scar tissue management. Data suggests patients who stay in Korea for 12 days rather than 7 report significantly less discomfort during long-haul flights. This extra time allows for professional drain removal and vital early-stage monitoring by specialists like Dr. Lee Sun Ku.

Patient Consensus: Patients frequently recommend packing a neck pillow and arnica for the return flight to manage arm soreness and swelling. Many advise against rushing home before day 10 to avoid complications like capsular contracture flare-ups during air travel.

Who is a good candidate for revision surgery, and what results can I expect?

Good candidates for breast implant revision in South Korea include patients with capsular contracture, implant displacement, or size dissatisfaction. Successful outcomes require being at least 6 months post-op with realistic expectations. Patients typically achieve 80-90% satisfaction within 3 months, with final results visible by 12 months.

  • Clinical criteria: Targets rippling, asymmetry, or `bottoming out` after initial surgeries.
  • Health requirements: Candidates must be non-smokers without uncontrolled autoimmune conditions for safety.
  • Aesthetic goals: Korean specialists prioritize natural, proportionate results over dramatic or oversized implants.
  • Recovery timeline: Most patients return to daily activities within 1–2 weeks in Seoul.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While US surgeons may decline complex size changes, South Korean clinics like JK Plastic Surgery Center or Wonjin Plastic Surgery Clinic specialize in achieving natural aesthetics even in difficult cases. Data shows these facilities leverage high volumes—some serving 8,000 patients annually—to refine techniques that reduce recovery time by nearly 7 days compared to Western averages.

Patient Consensus: Patients emphasize waiting for all swelling to settle before seeking a revision. Many recommend documenting concerns with photos and using 3D simulations during consultations to align expectations with the surgeon's natural-look philosophy.

Will there be visible scars, and how are they managed in Korea?

Visible scars after breast implant revision in Korea are typically minimal because surgeons prioritize reusing original incision sites. High-level clinics in Seoul utilize layered suturing and advanced regenerative therapies to ensure incisions remain well-concealed within the natural inframammary fold or areolar border.

  • Incision management: Surgeons reuse original scars to avoid creating new visible marks on the breast.
  • Layered suturing: Meticulous multi-layer closing reduces skin tension to prevent scar widening and thickening.
  • Clinical treatments: Post-operative care includes 3 to 6 laser sessions starting from week 4.
  • Regenerative add-ons: Stem cell applications and PRP injections accelerate tissue repair for faster fading.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Data from top Seoul clinics like JK Plastic Surgery and Wonjin shows that revision results often achieve better aesthetic outcomes than primaries. Korean surgeons use mature scar tissue planes to their advantage, often resulting in an 80% scar fade within the first year. Choosing a clinic with KOIHA or KAHF accreditation ensures access to these standardized, high-tech scar-minimizing protocols.

Patient Consensus: Patients frequently report that their revision scars are less noticeable than those from their original surgeries in the US or Europe. Many emphasize that investing in the recommended 3-6 laser sessions is vital for achieving that nearly invisible finish.

How do I choose a qualified plastic surgeon in Korea?

Choosing a qualified plastic surgeon in Korea requires verifying board certification from the Korean Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons (KSPRS). Only 1,300 of 10,000 practitioners are specialists. Patients must confirm clinic registration with the Ministry of Health (KAHF) to ensure legal safety standards for international medical travelers.

  • Board certification: Verify KSPRS membership to distinguish specialists from general practitioners with limited surgical training.
  • Safety accreditations: Prioritize clinics with Korea Accreditation Program for Hospitals serving Foreign Patients (KAHF) or JCI.
  • Operating transparency: Request CCTV access in operating rooms to prevent ghost surgery by unlisted doctors.
  • Specialized experience: Choose surgeons like Dr. Seung-hyung Noh who focus specifically on complex revision cases.

Bookimed Expert Insight: High patient volumes don't always guarantee quality for complex revisions. While clinics like Wonjin Plastic Surgery Clinic house over 20 doctors, smaller specialized centers often provide 24+ years of experience with lower revision rates. Look for surgeons who hold leadership roles in KSPRS research groups for the highest technical expertise.

Patient Consensus: Experienced patients recommend checking the Korean Association of Plastic Surgeons registry directly. Many suggest avoiding high-volume Gangnam discount chains to ensure the surgeon you consult with is the one performing the procedure.

What is included in a typical breast revision package, and how long should I stay in Korea?

Breast revision packages in South Korea typically include surgeon fees, general anesthesia, and high-quality implants like Motiva or Mentor. Most clinics bundle a 1-night hospital stay, specialized compression bras, and post-operative medications. You should plan to stay in Seoul for 10 to 14 days.

  • Medical inclusions: Packages cover pre-operative ultrasound, CT scans, and all necessary surgical facility fees.
  • Recovery support: Clinics provide scar management, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, and high-frequency recovery treatments.
  • Logistics: Standard services include airport transfers and dedicated English-speaking interpreters for all consultations.
  • Stay duration: A 14-day stay is vital for managing complex cases like total capsulectomy.
  • Travel clearance: Surgeons usually remove stitches and clear patients for flight on days 7–10.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While many clinics like VG Plastic Surgery offer standard luxury inclusions, the real differentiator is the surgical team's specialization. At centers like Wonjin Plastic Surgery, multiple surgeons specifically focus on breast research and reconstruction. Choosing a clinic with a dedicated breast surgery department often ensures more advanced post-op monitoring, which is critical since revisions typically heal slower than primary surgeries.

Patient Consensus: Patients emphasize confirming whether pre-op blood tests and mammograms are included to avoid unexpected delays. Many suggest packing loose clothing and budgeting for extra lymphatic massages to manage swelling during the 2-week stay.
