Francesc Graus

Prof. Francesc Graus is a neuro-oncologist at Hospital Quiron Barcelona. He is the founder and past president of the European Association of Neuro-Oncology. Dr. Graus pioneered the diagnosis of paraneoplastic neurological syndromes — rare disorders where the immune system attacks the nervous system in response to a cancer — by establishing their first strict criteria.

Specialization & Clinical Approach

Dr. Graus treats gliomas and brain lymphomas. He provides care for conditions like astrocytoma, meningioma, and glioblastoma. Additionally, he treats neurotoxicities caused by cancer treatments. He specifically addresses complications from immune checkpoint inhibitors and stem cell transplants. His research confirmed how tumors trigger autoimmune attacks on the nervous system.
