SHORT BIO:

After graduating from Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine in 1990, I started my  

specialization training in the General Surgery Department of the faculty. I completed my  

specialization in 1996 with my thesis supported by TÜBİTAK. After working as a specialist in  

the field of science for a year, I started working as chief assistant at the 6th Surgery Clinic of  

Ankara Numune Training and Research Hospital. After working at Acıbadem Kadıköy and  

Bodrum Hospitals, I have worked at Anadolu Medical Center since 2017.

I am currently the president of the Turkish Surgical Infection Society, of which I was a  

founding member, board member, and secretary for a long time

I served as the congress secretary of the 21st European Congress on Surgical Infections, held  

in Antalya in 2008, to which I have actively contributed since the beginning of my residency. I  

served on the society's Council in various positions for 11 years. After working as a  

‘Councillor at large’ for three years, as a ‘Recorder’ for three years, as an ‘Secretary’ for two  

years, and as an ‘President-Elect’ for one year, I was elected ‘President’ of the society in  

2019. I served as president of the society for three years, between 2019 and 2022. In the

I continue to work as the ‘Secretary’ of the World Surgical Infection Society board of

North America (SIS-NA) (https://www.sisna.org/committees ).

Surgical Infections journal continues its publication life as the official journal of the "Surgical  

Infection Society--North America", "Surgical Infection Society--Europe", "Surgical Infection  

Society--Latin America", and "The Chinese Society of Surgical Infections" associations. I have  

been on this journal's "Editorial Board" for the last five years

At the meeting of the British Journal of Surgery held on 06.09.2023, I was elected as a
