Dr. Yusuf AKCAN was born in Eskisehir, Çiftler district. After graduating from High School at Eskişehir Ataturk High School, he started his medical education at Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine (English) in 1983. in 1990, Dr. Akcan started his education in the department of internal diseases at Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine same year and completed it in 1995. Between 1995 and 1997, he completed his gastroenterology sub-branch education at Hacettepe University Medical Faculty Hospital, Department of Gastroenterology, and became a gastrologist.
In the following years, he worked as a professor of Internal diseases and gastroenterology teaching staff at İzzet Baysal University in the faculty of Düzce Medical Faculty. In 2002, he became an Associate Professor. Between 2000 and 2007, he was a faculty member at Afyon Kocatepe University in the Medical Faculty and until 2016 at Fatih University in the Faculty of Medicine In 2013, he became a professor and continued his studies.
Dr. Akcan has worked in different private hospitals since 2016. Since December 2019, he serves to his patients in the Gastroenterology department at Istanbul Oncological Hospital located in the Asian (Anadolu) part of Istanbul. ( İstanbul / Maltepe )
He continues to work actively by performing endoscopic procedures such as endoscopy, colonoscopy, endoscopic and colonoscopic polypectomy procedures, endoscopic mucosal resection, ERCP, ERCP, and bile duct stones removal, percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy insertion, and placing intragastric balloon for patients who desires to lose weight under conscious sedation.
