Prof. Dr. Oktay Banlı is a Professor of General Surgery. He has focused on laparoscopic bariatric surgery since 2006. His main procedures are sleeve gastrectomy and gastric bypass.
MD, Ankara University (1988). General Surgery Specialist, Erciyes University (1996). He worked for 11 years in the General Surgery and Kidney Transplantation Clinic at Etlik Specialized Hospital. He completed advanced laparoscopic training in France (2005–2006). He became an Associate Professor in 2007 and a Professor in 2013. He also served as Clinical Chief at Elazığ Education and Research Hospital. In 2014, he worked in bariatric and metabolic surgery clinics at Weill Cornell Medical College and Lenox Hill Hospital in New York.
He has published in international journals and is a member of professional societies. His interests include gastric balloon and band, sleeve gastrectomy, Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGB), mini gastric bypass (MGB), duodenal switch/biliopancreatic diversion (BPD), advanced laparoscopy, hepatopancreatobiliary (HPB) surgery, and transplant surgery and coordination.
