Scientific Activity

Dr. Sangiorgi's scientific activity mainly concerns the pathology and physiopathology of the cardiovascular system, with particular reference to coronary and carotid atherosclerotic disease and restenosis after interventional procedures. Furthermore, Dr. Sangiorgi has constantly dealt with issues related to interventional cardiology with particular reference to the medium and long-term results of the use of various platforms of implantable medical devices.

In carrying out these activities he used anatomo-pathological, histochemical and ultrastructural methods. He also dedicated himself particularly to morphometric techniques applied to cardiovascular pathology.

Since September 1993 he has had the opportunity to dedicate himself, at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester (USA), in the Laboratory of Experimental Interventional Cardiology directed by Dr. Robert Schwartz, to the study of the morphology, physiopathology and pathology of restenosis and vascular remodeling mechanical revascularization interventions.

• Application of morphometric techniques to experimental and human cardiovascular pathology

The research carried out mainly concerned the development of new methods:

1. for the evaluation of smooth muscle cells in the arterial wall during hypertension
2. for the evaluation of the optical density of histological preparations and tissues and for the morphometric evaluation of the size and shape of the nucleus using image analyzers
3. for the evaluation of the cell population of human atherosclerotic plaque by flow cytometry
4. on the application of quantitative immunohistochemical techniques

Dr. Ewa Uscinska is an experienced specialist who has graduated from the Medical University of Białystok in 2001. Since 2015 she started to practice as a cardiologist.  Dr Ewa Uscinska specializes in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of heart and circulatory system diseases and a wide range of cardiovascular diseases, coronary diseases, arrhythmias, heart valve diseases, congenital defects and heart muscle diseases. Dr Ewa Uscinskas experience and knowledge help patients to prevent the diseases mostly on the “Cardio” Health check-up as well on the other procedures provided in the Clinic. 

I am an experienced pediatric cardiothoracic surgeon with a demonstrated history of working in the hospital and healthcare industry of Istanbul, Turkey. My skills encompass pediatric heart surgery, minimally invasive heart surgery, full arterial revascularization in CABG (sclerotonized bilateral mammaria and radial artery usage), vascular surgery and endovascular procedures, medical education, and management of cardiac surgery patients in the intensive care unit.

Education Dr. Castriota graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Milan. He continued his postgraduate training at the University of Bologna where he obtained two specializations: the first one in Cardiology in 1992 and then in Radiology. From 1995 to 1996 he spent a period as a Fellow in the "Arizona Heart Institute" under the supervision of Professor Diethrich.

Research Dr. Castriota is an active member of some scientific societies, such as SIRM (Italian Society of Medical Radiology), Fellow of the Scientific College of the Italian Society of Invasive Cardiology (GISE), Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology (FESC), European Cardiovascular Interventional Society (EAPCI) and of ISES, International Society of Endovascular Specialist. He is the principal investigator of a recent Protected TAVR study, aimed at evaluating the effectiveness of a particular device for brain protection during aortic valve replacement surgery using the TAVI endovascular method.

Prof. Dr. Vecih Oduncu is a leading Cardiology Specialist at ISU - Medical Park. He has been part of the team since 2010. He is known for his skill in percutaneous coronary interventions, as well as in treating structural and congenital heart diseases. Dr. Oduncu also specializes in endovascular procedures and device therapies, including pacemakers and defibrillators.

He is a member of the Turkish Society of Cardiology, the European Society of Cardiology, and the European Association of Percutaneous Cardiovascular Interventions. Dr. Oduncu has published over 59 articles in both international and national journals. His work highlights his strong commitment to advancing cardiology research and patient care.

Op. Dr. Cüneyt Şelli is a cardiovascular surgeon. He earned his medical degree in 2003 and completed his specialty in Cardiovascular Surgery in 2009. He has managed major health institutions in Turkey. Dr. Şelli has also contributed to medical education.

He has written many scientific articles and books. His work shows a strong focus on research and innovation in cardiovascular medicine. As the leader of the ESTESIE team, he brings together skilled doctors to provide quality care. His achievements in cardiovascular surgery are widely recognized.
