Career

Born in Trabzon in 1982, Prof. Yusuf Yıldırım completed his high school education at Kanuni Anatolian High School and earned his medical degree from Istanbul University Faculty of Medicine in 2006. He pursued his residency at Beyoğlu Eye Training and Research Hospital, where he contributed to clinical trials on age-related macular degeneration and myopia treatment. Prof. Yıldırım's clinical focus lies in cataract and refractive surgeries, as well as corneal and ocular surface diseases. He has performed over 10,000 cataract surgeries, numerous ocular surface reconstructions, and advanced corneal transplants (PK, DALK, DMEK). His refractive surgery experience includes PRK, LASIK (mechanical and femtosecond), SMILE, and phakic IOL implantation. He continues to participate in clinical research, particularly involving toric phakic IOLs. He holds multiple distinguished certifications and memberships including FEBO (2016), FICO (2018), a Corneal Subspecialty Diploma (2019), and Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (2020). Dr Erdem Gelegen is an ophthalmologist with over 20 years of experience in cataract, refractive, retinal, glaucoma, and corneal/anterior segment care. He performs phacoemulsification with premium intraocular lenses. He provides laser vision correction for myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism. He treats diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, retinal detachment, keratoconus, and anterior segment disorders, including corneal transplants.

He graduated from Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine in 1999. He completed his ophthalmology residency at Okmeydanı Training and Research Hospital in 2004. He is known for precise microsurgery and the use of advanced ophthalmic technologies.

Dr. Akin Akyurt is an experienced ophthalmologist. He graduated from Istanbul University School of Medicine. He completed advanced fellowships at University Eye Clinics in Cologne and Tuebingen, Germany. He also holds a PhD focused on immunomodulatory therapy for uveitis.

Dr. Akyurt is certified in LASIK, presbyopia correction with multifocal intraocular lenses, scleral fixation, corneal collagen cross-linking, femtosecond anterior segment surgery, and corneal topography analysis. He is a member of the DOG, AAO, ASCRS, and ESCRS.

He has presented at major international congresses, such as the World Ophthalmology Congress and ESCRS meetings. He has contributed to advances in cataract and refractive surgery.

Dr. Afrim Vuçitërna is a specialist ophthalmologist with over 30 years of experience in Kosovo’s public healthcare system. He began his career in 1990. Dr. Vuçitërna has worked in both outpatient clinics and hospitals. He focuses on anterior segment diseases and general ophthalmology.

He completed his medical degree and specialization in ophthalmology in the former Yugoslavia. Dr. Vuçitërna is a member of the Kosovo Chamber of Doctors (Oda e Mjekëve të Kosovës). This membership shows his professional accreditation and dedication to high standards in clinical care.

Dr. Özer Kavalcıoğlu is an experienced ophthalmologist. He graduated from Hacettepe University Medical School. He is a member of several respected organizations, including the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO), American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS), and European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS).

Dr. Kavalcıoğlu has attended many international conferences, such as the Congress of the European Society of Ophthalmology, World Glaucoma Congress, and Congress on Controversies in Ophthalmology. He is dedicated to ongoing professional development and high standards in patient care.
