Additional information
1. Procedure Description
Endoscopic Discectomy is a state-of-the-art, minimally invasive spine surgery used to treat herniated discs that press on spinal nerves. Unlike traditional surgery, the surgeon reaches the disc through a tiny incision using an endoscope—a thin tube equipped with a high-definition camera and specialized surgical instruments.
• Surgery Duration: Approximately 45 to 90 minutes.
• Technique: The procedure uses a "keyhole" approach, which avoids cutting through major back muscles and preserves the natural stability of the spine.
• Clinic Highlights: Our facility utilizes advanced endoscopic technology that allows for direct visualization of the nerve root, ensuring precise removal of the disc fragment while minimizing scarring.
2. For Who (Patient Suitability)
• Target Patients: Ideal for patients suffering from sciatica, leg pain, or numbness caused by a disc herniation that has not improved with physical therapy or medication.
• Requirements: A high-resolution MRI of the spine (within the last 6 months) is required to determine if the herniation is accessible via the endoscopic portal.
• Contraindications: This may not be suitable for patients with severe spinal instability or those requiring multi-level spinal fusion.
3. Post-Operation Care & Recommendations
• Hospital Stay: Typically an outpatient procedure or a 1-night stay for observation.
• Recovery Timeline: Many patients experience immediate relief from leg pain and can return to light desk work within 1 to 2 weeks.
• Travel Readiness: We recommend staying in-country for 5 to 7 days post-surgery to ensure the small incision is healing correctly before flying.
• Follow-up: A clinical review is performed prior to departure to confirm a safe recovery.
Note: The above package includes standard services only and does not cover patients with complications or medical conditions that fall outside the hospital’s specified terms and conditions. Additional charges may apply, and prices are subject to change without prior notice.
