Single Eye or Both Eyes?
This package is based on your online evaluation. After your in-person examination, Dr. Yavuz Selim Dogan may find that surgery on both eyes is needed, depending on your condition. In this case, your treatment continues at the both-eyes package price.
Pre-operative Examination
On the morning of your arrival, Dr. Yavuz Selim Dogan performs a detailed examination of both eyes to understand the type and degree of your eye misalignment and to plan the surgery. This includes:
- Vision and refraction measurement
- Eye alignment measurement
- Eye movement and binocular vision assessment
- Examination of the retina and the overall health of your eyes
- Blood tests and anesthesia assessment
- Consultation with Dr. Yavuz Selim Dogan
Please arrive fasting (no food or drink), as the surgery is performed under general anesthesia. Your coordinator will give you exact fasting instructions, including for children. Please also bring your current glasses and any previous eye reports or prescriptions.
Procedure
The surgery is performed under general anesthesia, so you (or your child) sleep comfortably throughout. The surgeon adjusts the position of the eye muscle(s) responsible for the misalignment in one eye according to your surgical plan. The procedure takes approximately 1 hour.
What to expect
- Day 1 (arrival and surgery): You arrive in Turkey in the morning, fasting, and are met by our VIP transfer. Examination and tests take place in the morning, and surgery is performed in the afternoon. You stay overnight at the hospital with your companion.
- Day 2 (discharge): After the doctor’s check, you are discharged and can travel, including by air.
- First week: Your eye must not come into contact with water, and showering is not allowed. Prescribed eye drops are used. Redness and mild irritation are common.
- After 1 week: Most patients return to their normal daily routine. Redness fades gradually over the following weeks.
Follow-up check-ups
- 1-week check-up: Done in person or online, depending on your preference. If you choose to stay in Turkey for the in-person check-up, your stay will be at a hotel, not at the hospital, and hotel costs are not included.
- 6-month check-up: Available if you wish, but not required.
Revision and Complications:
Some patients may experience a shift in eye alignment after surgery. As long as you stay in contact with our team, your surgeon will evaluate your case. Complications are covered by the complication insurance included in your package. Revision surgery that is not related to a complication is charged, and the fee depends on your case.
Accommodation:
The hospital stay (1 night) is included for the patient and 1 companion. Hotel accommodation before or after the hospital stay is not included, and the choice is yours. We work with partner 3, 4 and 5-star hotels and can arrange special rates for our patients.
Flight Ticket Discount:
Discounts of 10% to 50% may be available on flights with Turkish Airlines and AJet. Discount codes can be provided to the patient and up to 3 companions.
Not included:
- Surgery on the second eye (unless the surgeon decides both eyes are needed, see “Single Eye or Both Eyes?”)
- Flight tickets (discount codes available, see above)
- Hotel accommodation outside the 1-night hospital stay
- Medications prescribed after discharge
- Revision surgery not related to a complication
- Any additional treatment if medically required
Results vary from person to person. The final surgical plan, including which eye or eyes will be operated on, is confirmed by Dr. Yavuz Selim Dogan after your pre-operative examination.
