Factors affecting Neck liposuction cost in Mexico

Cost variables to consider:

  • Board-certified plastic surgeons with AMCPER or ISAPS credentials can charge 25%–35% more for their expertise.
  • Clinics accredited by JCI or affiliated with ASPS may charge 15%–20% more.
  • Procedures performed in major cities like Cancun or Mexico City can cost up to 30% more due to medical tourism demand.
  • Use of advanced liposuction technology such as VASER or laser-assisted lipo can increase costs by 20%–30%.
  • Extent of fat removal and whether multiple neck zones are treated can raise costs by 15%–25%.
  • Type of anesthesia (local vs. general) can impact price by 10%–15%, with general anesthesia costing more.

Neck liposuction in Mexico can offer significant cost savings, but it's crucial to weigh the potential benefits against the risks.

Pros Cons
Lower costs. Neck liposuction costs $1,350–$1,800 in Mexico versus $4,500–$6,000 in the US, offering up to 70% savings. Safety concerns. Potential risks include infection (2–4%), hematoma, or contour irregularities. These rates are similar to those in the US when performed by qualified surgeons.
Qualified surgeons. Surgeons are certified by the Mexican Council of Plastic Surgery (CMCPER), often with 10–30 years’ experience and US/European training. Follow-up care. Managing post-op visits can be challenging from abroad. Some clinics offer telemedicine and detailed discharge instructions.
Modern facilities. Clinics in Tijuana and Cancun use equipment from brands like Stryker and are accredited by JCI, ISO, and COFEPRIS. Different regulatory standards. COFEPRIS standards differ from the FDA, but top clinics adopt international protocols and maintain safety levels similar to the US.
Comprehensive packages. Many clinics include pre-op tests, anesthesia, post-op meds, and transportation, reducing hidden costs and logistical stress. Travel-related risks. Potential risks include travel complications and post-op swelling during flights. These can be minimized with proper planning and recovery time in Mexico.
Personal coordinator support. Bookimed’s medical coordinator helps compare clinics, request personalized quotes, and manage treatment logistics at no additional cost.

It's crucial to thoroughly research clinics and verify surgeon credentials before making a decision. When performed by qualified surgeons in accredited facilities, neck liposuction in Mexico can offer safe and effective results at a fraction of the cost.

I like how fast and easy it was from the start. The surgical facility was small but worked fine. I did not like the post op care. The night nurse was terrible. Her patients were not a priority. Post op care was not made clear. I would have preferred more detailed instructions on after care. I was left guessing about bandages, sprays, medications and scar treatment. Doctor repaired a hernia, of which I was grateful, but would have preferred to have price list in case this occurred so I could have been prepared financially. I felt like price was just made up. So I don't know if I was overcharged. I liked Mexicali as it was a nice quiet clean town. All in all experience was not bad and the price was affordable.
