Hysteroscopic septum resection (hysteroscopic septoplasty) in Mexico can offer significant cost savings, but it's crucial to weigh the potential benefits against the risks.

Pros Cons
Lower costs. Hysteroscopic septum resection in Mexico costs $1,500–$3,000, compared to $3,000–$6,000 in the US, offering up to 50% savings. Safety concerns. Potential risks include infection (1–2%) and uterine perforation (less than 1%). These are similar to rates in the US when performed by qualified specialists.
Qualified surgeons. Surgeons are certified by the Mexican Council of Gynecology, often with US or European training and over 10 years of experience in minimally invasive gynecological surgery. Follow-up care. Postoperative check-ups may be more complex for international patients, but telemedicine options are increasingly available.
Modern facilities. Accredited hospitals use FDA-approved hysteroscopic equipment and are regulated by COFEPRIS, with some holding JCI or ISO certifications. Different regulatory standards. COFEPRIS regulations differ from the FDA. However, leading clinics often align with international protocols and use FDA-approved instruments.
Minimally invasive approach. Hysteroscopic surgery enables faster recovery and less pain compared to open procedures, with most patients returning to normal activities within a few days. Anesthesia risks. As with any procedure, anesthesia carries risks (less than 0.5%). These are minimized in accredited centers with experienced anesthesiologists.
Personal coordinator support. Bookimed’s medical coordinator helps compare clinics, request personalized quotes, and manage treatment logistics at no additional cost.

It's crucial to thoroughly research clinics and verify surgeon credentials before making a decision. Patients should carefully research and choose reputable providers to ensure safety and optimal outcomes when considering hysteroscopic septum resection in Mexico.

The medical team was great
The medical team was great, the hospital was top notch. Dr. Pliego was available online throughout the entire process (both pre and post surgery) and the surgery went smoothly.
Even though Dr. Pliego was in another surgery when I was released from the hospital, I appreciated the hospital was able to provide my prescription for both antibiotics and pain medicine so I was able to leave and recover in our Air BnB s I was ready to leave the hospital.
I signed a lot of paperwork that wasn't in english.
About Bookimed service
I appreciated the prompt responses to questions both medical and travel related throughout the entire process.
