Abdominal Liposuction in Mexico: Your Travel Plan

Day 1: Arrival in Mexico
  • You should arrive in Mexico at least 2 days before your scheduled surgery. This is crucial for completing necessary preoperative tests.
  • Check into your pre-arranged accommodation. You can stay at a hotel with special patient rates or a recovery house.
  • Ensure you have your PCR COVID-19 test results ready. If not done prior, you need to complete it upon arrival.
  • Maintain fasting as you will undergo blood tests and possibly a cardiological evaluation the next morning.
Day 2: Preoperative Preparations
  • You need to attend a scheduled appointment for blood tests and any additional required preoperative evaluations, such as EKG and cardiological assessment. This confirms your fitness for surgery.
  • Meet with your plastic surgeon for a consultation. Discuss the surgical plan, markings, and take preoperative photos. Clarify any doubts or questions you may have.
  • Discuss the anesthesia plan with the anesthesiologist for your abdominal liposuction. Address any concerns you might have.
  • Ensure all paperwork and consent forms are signed and understood. Confirm your surgery schedule for the next day.
  • Relax and prepare mentally for the procedure. Avoid strenuous activities and ensure a restful night.
Day 3: Surgery Day
  • Arrive at the clinic or hospital early as instructed. You might need to fast from midnight before the surgery.
  • The surgical team will prep you for the procedure, which includes liposuction of the abdominal region and possibly a conventional tummy tuck if recommended.
  • Post-surgery, you will be moved to a recovery room. Medical staff will monitor you closely to ensure there are no immediate complications.
  • Expect to stay in the hospital for 1-2 nights, depending on your specific case and recovery speed.
Day 4-5: Initial Recovery
  • Stay in the hospital or move to a recovery house if recommended and available. This ensures immediate access to medical care if needed.
  • Begin wearing a compression garment as instructed by your surgeon. This helps reduce swelling and supports your new body contour.
  • Receive prescribed medications, including antibiotics, analgesics, and anti-inflammatories. These are crucial for managing pain and preventing infections.
  • Attend any scheduled post-operative check-ups with your surgeon to monitor your healing process.
  • Adhere strictly to post-operative care instructions. Avoid strenuous activities and keep the surgical area clean and dry.
Day 6-10: Continued Recovery
  • Continue wearing the compression garment for at least 6 weeks as advised. This is critical for optimal healing and results.
  • Avoid sun exposure to the surgical area for 3 months to prevent complications such as hyperpigmentation.
  • Participate in any recommended therapies, such as lymphatic massages or ultrasound therapy, to aid recovery and improve results.
  • Maintain communication with your surgeon or patient coordinator for any concerns or unusual symptoms.
  • Prepare for your return home by ensuring all medical clearances are obtained and follow-up appointments are scheduled.
Day 11: Departure from Mexico
  • Before leaving, ensure you have all necessary documentation and post-operative care instructions.
  • Confirm transportation arrangements back to the airport.
  • Stay in touch with your clinic for any follow-up consultations, which can often be conducted virtually.
  • Continue following your surgeon's advice and instructions once home to ensure a smooth and successful recovery.

I'm very happy with the results I'm seeing so far and anticipate being even happier as the swelling goes down and my new figure fully reveals itself
Dr Ana was very sweet and helpful as was her daughter Louise. Despite the language barrier they were able to communicate to me what the procedure was going to be in terms of medical tests on surgery day. The anesthetist was wonderful and easy to communicate with. The nurses who tended to me post procedure were very kind, but there was definitely a language barrier. I had hoped to be able to use my phones translator, but did not anticipate how difficult it would be for me to move after the procedure often times I would not be able to reach my phone. Once I arrived there, there were some nominal unanticipated additional costs that I was not made aware of. Specifically, $200 a night to sleep another night in the clinic when I was too swollen and sore to move and wasn't going to be able to get on a plane just yet. I stayed in a nice hotel the night before the procedure and paid only $77 for that accommodation. It would be different if they had been bringing me juice and water frequently or otherwise caring for me, but I often found myself dehydrated and lacking cold water. I appreciate that they brought me food, but all of the food that they brought me was so dry that I could not eat it because my mouth was already so dry. They were very sweet to go and get me and ice cream when I asked for a popsicle. Otherwise you got whatever they gave you, whenever they decided to give it to you. The rest of the time I was just left alone in my room, which was fine because I really was not able to move. There are times and it would have been helpful to have someone nearby to hand me lip balm from my bag, but generally I was left by myself. I am 2 weeks out from my procedure so I'm still very swollen, St iff and sore, but I can tell that the surgeon did an excellent job with my procedure. I'm very happy with the results I'm seeing so far and anticipate being even happier as the swelling goes down and my new figure fully reveals itself. This is not the same kind of experience as having cosmetic surgery in the states. There's very little consultation/ pre-op care other than the scheduling. The Aftercare is almost non-existent. I was prepared for that and so I had real significant complaints outside of the lack of pain management offered post procedure.
About Bookimed service
The interface is very easy to use and I was able to get quotes quickly, choose a clinic and book my procedure within a few weeks. I had a very specific time frame that I had already purchased airfare to San Diego for, and the clinic was very accommodating.

I like how fast and easy it was from the start. The surgical facility was small but worked fine. I did not like the post op care. The night nurse was terrible. Her patients were not a priority. Post op care was not made clear. I would have preferred more detailed instructions on after care. I was left guessing about bandages, sprays, medications and scar treatment. Doctor repaired a hernia, of which I was grateful, but would have preferred to have price list in case this occurred so I could have been prepared financially. I felt like price was just made up. So I don't know if I was overcharged. I liked Mexicali as it was a nice quiet clean town. All in all experience was not bad and the price was affordable.
