I like how fast and easy it was from the start. The surgical facility was small but worked fine. I did not like the post op care. The night nurse was terrible. Her patients were not a priority. Post op care was not made clear. I would have preferred more detailed instructions on after care. I was left guessing about bandages, sprays, medications and scar treatment. Doctor repaired a hernia, of which I was grateful, but would have preferred to have price list in case this occurred so I could have been prepared financially. I felt like price was just made up. So I don't know if I was overcharged. I liked Mexicali as it was a nice quiet clean town. All in all experience was not bad and the price was affordable.

I felt tricked in my experience. I informed the clinic of my entire medical history several months in advance. However, after i booked flights and hotel and arrived in Tijuana, i was informed that they felt my surgery would be too risky, even though i had passed all their medical exams. On top of all that, they charged me $200 for the tests! I do NOT recommend Gilenis to anybody ever. The Bookimed service was great! The only problem i had was that i was referred to a shady clinic by the Bookimed reps are great about answering questions.

"I'm so glad I chose Dr Israel!"
I had a great experience with my Dr Israel VillaLobos and His staff Elsa and Dr Abraham were very good to me! My surgery was successful! I got lipo with tummy tuck and I'm so glad I chose Dr Israel! The nurses were very attentive and sweet and helpful. The communication was good in expressing what I needed or how I felt and I will recommend this hospital again. Thank you Elsa and Dr. VillaLobos!

Research thoroughly about the procedure, surgeon, and facility to build confidence in your decision. Communicate openly with your medical team about any concerns, and consider bringing a companion for emotional support during your trip.

What happens if I experience complications after returning home from surgery in Mexico?

If complications arise after returning home, contact your surgeon immediately for guidance. They may provide advice remotely or recommend seeing a local healthcare provider if urgent care is needed.

Will there be language barriers during my medical consultation and treatment in Mexico?

Many medical facilities catering to international patients have English-speaking staff or offer translation services during consultations and treatment. It's advisable to confirm language support availability when scheduling your procedure.

What is the process for follow-up care once I'm back in my home country?

Follow-up care typically involves virtual consultations with your surgeon at scheduled intervals to monitor your recovery. Your surgeon will provide guidance on managing any issues that arise and may coordinate with local healthcare providers if necessary.

How long should I plan to stay in Mexico for the procedure and initial recovery?

Plan to stay in Mexico for at least 10 to 14 days to accommodate preoperative tests, surgery, and initial recovery time. This duration allows for proper monitoring of your healing process before traveling back home.

What kind of support will I have after returning home from surgery in Mexico?

Many clinics offer virtual follow-up consultations to ensure continuity of care once you return home. It's important to maintain communication with your surgeon regarding your recovery progress and any concerns that may arise post-surgery.

Are there any hidden costs or additional expenses I should be aware of when having surgery in Mexico?

While many packages include essential services like consultations, medications, and accommodations, additional costs can arise from extended stays or unforeseen complications. Be sure to clarify what is included in your package and inquire about any potential extra fees before committing.

What should I consider when planning travel arrangements for surgery in Mexico?

Plan to arrive a few days before surgery to allow time for consultations and preoperative tests. Consider booking accommodation close to the medical facility, such as a 4-star hotel included in many surgery packages. Ensure you have a valid passport, necessary travel documents, and arrange for transportation as transfers may not be included.

How can I verify the safety and accreditation of the medical facility in Mexico?

Ensure the facility is accredited by international bodies such as the Joint Commission International (JCI) or adheres to standards set by the Mexican Health Ministry. Researching patient reviews and consulting with your chosen surgeon about their facility's certifications can also provide assurance of safety.

Post-operative care includes wearing compression garments, managing pain with prescribed medications, and attending follow-up examinations. Recovery typically takes 4 to 6 weeks, with initial swelling and discomfort subsiding within the first few weeks. It's important to follow all post-surgery instructions provided by your medical team.

How do I ensure the surgeon in Mexico is qualified and experienced for this procedure?

Verify the surgeon's credentials by checking if they are certified by reputable organizations like the ISAPS or the Mexican Association of Plastic, Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery. Look for surgeons with extensive experience in performing Fleur De Lis Tummy Tucks and review patient testimonials and before-and-after photos.
