Cheek implants in Thailand: Your Travel Plan

Day 1: Arrival in Thailand
  • Upon landing in Thailand, you should have all necessary documentation and identification ready for immigration procedures.
  • If you chose a clinic offering airport pick-up with a 30% deposit, look for the designated representative to escort you to your accommodation.
  • Check into your hotel or accommodation. Take time to rest and recover from your journey.
  • Contact the clinic to confirm your arrival and appointment schedule. You can do this via phone or email.
Day 2: Pre-Operative Consultation and Medical Examination
  • Attend your scheduled consultation with the surgeon. Discuss the cheek implants procedure, your goals, and any concerns. This is your opportunity to ask detailed questions about the surgery.
  • Undergo a comprehensive physical examination, including blood tests, EKG, and X-rays. This ensures you are ready for surgery and helps avoid complications.
  • Review and sign any necessary consent forms after understanding the risks and benefits of the procedure.
  • Receive pre-operative instructions, which may include fasting guidelines before surgery.
Day 3: Surgery Day
  • Arrive at the clinic or hospital at the designated time. Ensure you have followed all pre-operative instructions, such as fasting.
  • Undergo the cheek implants procedure under general anesthesia. A qualified anesthesiologist will administer it. Clinics like Asia Cosmetic Hospital and Wansiri Hospital provide skilled anesthesiologists.
  • The surgery involves placing implants in the cheek area to enhance facial contours. It typically lasts a few hours.
  • Post-surgery, you will be monitored in a recovery room until the anesthesia wears off. Expect to stay in the hospital for 1 to 2 nights for observation and initial recovery, as offered by many clinics.
Day 4: Post-Operative Care and Hospital Discharge

  • Attend a post-operative check-up to ensure there are no immediate complications from the surgery.
  • Discharge from the hospital with instructions on how to care for your incisions and manage swelling. Follow these instructions carefully to promote healing and avoid infection.
  • Arrange for transportation back to your accommodation, which may be provided by some clinics.
Day 5-7: Initial Recovery Period
  • Rest is crucial during the first week following surgery. Avoid strenuous activities and keep your head elevated to reduce swelling.
  • Maintain a diet as prescribed by the clinic's nutritionist, if applicable, to support healing.
  • Attend any scheduled follow-up appointments to monitor your recovery progress. These appointments are essential to ensure proper healing.
  • If you experience any unusual symptoms, such as excessive swelling, fever, or severe pain, contact the clinic immediately for advice.
Day 8-14: Continued Recovery and Follow-Up
  • Continue to follow post-operative care instructions, including medication and wound care.
  • Gradually resume normal activities as advised by your surgeon. Avoid any activities that could impact your face.

Day 15: Preparing for Departure

Medical team was as expected, nurses were very good. Language barrier was an issue, after care support was nil, staff were off sick, one nurse working with inpatient and me as outpatient. I was not ambulatory, so she came to me. Very rushed, no explanation of meds or paperwork. Medical certificate pre filled out before final surgery was even done. Surgeons tummy tuck was done well, neck lift - good, butt lift and breast lift not done, fat transfer instead, not what I wanted. Face lift was only on upper eye lid and did not work as expecterd, was looking for blepharoplasty, Upper and lower eye lids. Surgeon did not know what I meant. Still have wrinkles around eyes, still have over hanging eyelid in brow area. Not recommended if you have additional health issues, I have anaphylaxis to wheat which means all medications need to be checked, nurses and doctor did not know what I meant, so I could not take food or medication there. Also, most staff did not understand my request for wheat free foods- became a big issue. Perfectly fine to attend this clinic if you are in good health and have no other life threatening health issues. Below photo on left is what I got, photo on right is what I wanted. AS you can see in the other e photos, myafor arm adn upper arms still have excess skin and wrinkles, my inner thighs still have too much skin and lots of wrinkles. I had asked for VASER lyposuction, this liquifies fat and shrinks skin, not sure I got that type of liposuction. This bruising 2 weeks post surgery.
Nurses were wonderful
Surgeon was impatient and unwilling to try to understand my needs, again language was an issue
About Bookimed service
Although staff promised assistance all the way through, this is not the reality, there was often a significant time lag, and in case of emergency that was very unhelpful

100% recommend this clinic
On 19.02.2025 I had breast augmentation surgery. Beforehand, I received a detailed consultation from professionals Dr Anychit Kitsombud, Dr Elena Goldobenko and nurse Maricor. The doctor helped with the choice of size and shape of implants, told me in detail about the operation, consequences, recovery process, gave clear recommendations. The surgery was easy, the medical staff was always in touch, they helped, cared. Dr Elena is always in touch, controls the recovery process, gives recommendations. Definitely, the choice of this clinic was the right decision for this operation. I am very happy with the result. 100% recommend this clinic. Professionalism, safety, care - B Care!

I'm still healing from my surgery but so far I'm very happy with the result and would recommend the hospital and clinic, and would like to reassure anyone going abroad that you'll be in good hands!
Had a rhinoplasty at B care hospital and the care the team provided was amazing. Just wanted to write this to reassure anyone looking into it, as my family were concerned about me heading out to Thailand to have the procedure as a lot of families would be. The hospital and clinic were sparkling clean. The co-ordinator, nurse and doctor were all just lovely and very attentive to my needs. There was no difficulty communicating with the doctor who went through exactly what would be done during the procedure. One thing I was happy about was the 2 nights in hospital - other places I looked at only gave you one night, or even home the same day. Being sleepy after the surgery, I wouldn't have wanted to go back to my accom the same day. I was grateful I had the lovely nurse Mariko looking after me. Also the room at the hospital was lovely - spacious and bright with a nice en suite and all the facilities you would need. I also realised I had tonsillitis on the day I left the hospital (I think I got it before I even had the surgery) and the team were very caring and made sure I had all the medications I needed for that too, before going back to my accommodation. I'm still healing from my surgery but so far I'm very happy with the result and would recommend the hospital and clinic, and would like to reassure anyone going abroad that you'll be in good hands! Bookimed were also really good at keeping in touch and my coordinator Marsela was patient while I took my time to decide if I was going to go ahead with the procedure in the first place, and was always there to answer any questions I had. All very much appreciated!

But overall I'm really happy with my experience with the ID Clinic team ☺️
Ice was one of the nurses who collected me from the airport. She was so kind for waiting nearly two hours for me due to a delay I had. She helped me so much after my surgery too. Another nurse Marge was wonderful. She helped with translation and my aftercare, she was so gentle when helping take out my stitches. I thank all of the nursing staff, they were all wonderful in their own way and treated me very well. I wish I could have spoken with the doctor more, he always seemed in a rush, I know he is a very busy man but if he could slow down just a bit it would help the patient care factor improve. But overall I'm really happy with my experience with the ID Clinic team ☺️ I only took two pictures of the inside of my overnight room, the clinic was very clean and comfortable and beautiful 🙏
The staff and nurses were exceptional!
Not enough conversation with the doctor, he seemed in a hurry
About Bookimed service

The operation went well, quickly and painlessly
The operation went well, quickly and painlessly. They provided all the necessary medication to be taken afterwards. The staff were always in touch. After the operation we had several additional check-ups to make sure that everything was OK. They constantly organised the transfer from the hotel to the clinic and back.

Very thorough and attentive medical staff
Very thorough and attentive medical staff. Vip like attention to detail and care. I was apprehensive if this was the right clinic for lipo as most of their services centred around aesthetics fillers and botox and those stuff. Had lipo on my abs and flanks, and I can already see the results after 10 days. Dr Aim really knows what she’s doing. Their BISP clinic is really comfy, they should prob move major procedures there in the future as it’s bigger than the Big C one. Thank you Siam Clinic.
VIP level attention to care and concerns
Maybe just a little cramped clinic at Big C. But just a minor gripe.

The language needs to be improved for translation. The doctor needs to spend more time with clients explaining the procedures that will happen. The after care is very intermediate. Any issues raised is hard to explain because of the language difference. A staff are wonderful however I’m not sure about the qualifications felt like I was in an abattoir. Still waiting to see surgeon back in home country as cast taken off to soon and nose is out of shape . Rather concerned but I guess you get what you pay for
The staff are wonderful, but again, not sure about the qualification
Language communication with the consultation very poor and only seen us for three minutes. Photo of what I was expecting. Outcome doesn’t look anything like I specified. When raised with the surgeon was told once again with poor English that it was swelling and a nod of head that all is ok..
About Bookimed service
This is very far from what the photos and staff on booking IMED presented. It felt like a very rough area, hygiene had a lot to stand up for western standard , again staff are wonderful but the language barrier is unbearable when you are getting surgery and worries about certain things that just can’t be answered due to language barriers

I'm very impressed with the outcome
I'm very impressed with the outcome. Bookimed assistant was helpful and arrange a virtual consultation with the consultant. While English was not his strong fort, his expertise made up for it. The staff, especially Margi was extremely valuable as she speaks fluently English. Her knowledge and expertise was well appreciated as well as her care and attentiveness. The staff was nice. I did rhinoplasty and liposuction and I'll very impressed with the outcome. Post op care was provided. The nose did not hurt post op in comparison with the liposuction, which was quite uncomfortable. Not painful, numb and tender I suppose. As to the cost, it's fairly competitive.
The expertise
More English speakers would have been nice.
About Bookimed service

I was pleasantly surprised by how smooth and easy the process was from start to finish
Bookimed was extremely helpful, making the whole process seamless. I was pleasantly surprised by how smooth and easy the process was from start to finish. I felt well supported and all of my questions and concerns were always answered in a timely manner. The staff at ID Clinic were approachable and friendly, they attended to my needs and requests immediately during my overnight stay and the days following my surgery. The only thing I am not satisfied with, is the lack of depth of my in person consult prior to surgery, as my breast asymmetry was not properly addressed or discussed. Now, I will likely have to explore alternate procedures at a high cost to correct my breast asymmetry once I am fully healed, which I am frustrated with as I feel this should have been taken into consideration and corrected during my initial breast augmentation surgery. However, I would still recommend Bookimend and the ID Clinic as my overall experience was good.
The ease and comfort of the process once I arrived in Thailand.
The lack of depth of my in person consult prior to surgery, that no interventions were made to correct my breast asymmetry during surgery.
About Bookimed service
I felt completely supported during my journey. My coordinator was very responsive and compassionate.

FAQ about Cheek implants in Thailand

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

What are the different types of cheek implants available in Thailand?

In Thailand, cheek implants are typically made from materials like silicone, Medpor®, and Gore-Tex®. Silicone implants are smooth and provide a natural feel, while Medpor® is porous, allowing tissue ingrowth for better integration. Gore-Tex® is flexible and biocompatible, offering a soft yet durable option.

How do I determine the appropriate size and shape of facial implants?

Consultations with experienced surgeons are essential to assess facial anatomy and aesthetic goals. Advanced imaging techniques and 3D simulations can help in visualizing potential outcomes. Surgeons often consider factors like facial proportions, skin elasticity, and bone structure to recommend the most suitable implant size and shape.

What is the typical recovery timeline after cheek implant surgery?

Patients can expect swelling and bruising for the first 1–2 weeks. Most resume normal activities within 2–4 weeks. Post-operative care includes avoiding pressure on the cheeks, following prescribed medications, and attending follow-up appointments to monitor healing.

Are there any non-surgical alternatives to cheek contouring with implants?

Non-surgical options like dermal fillers (e.g., hyaluronic acid) can temporarily enhance cheek volume and contour. However, these results are temporary, typically lasting 6–12 months, and may require maintenance treatments. Cheek implants offer a more permanent solution for those seeking lasting enhancement.

What are the potential risks and complications?

Potential risks include infection, implant displacement, asymmetry, nerve damage, and scarring. Choosing a qualified and experienced surgeon can help minimize these risks.

How do I choose a reputable clinic in Thailand for cheek augmentation surgery?

When selecting a clinic, consider factors such as the surgeon's experience, clinic accreditation from organizations like the Joint Commission International (JCI), patient reviews, and the types of implants offered. It’s important to ensure that the clinic adheres to internationally recognized standards for patient safety and quality care.

Which clinics in Thailand offer cheek implant surgery?

Based on the Bookimed information, here are the top clinics in Thailand offering cheek implant procedures:

  • ID Clinic Bangkok
  • Asia Cosmetic Hospital
  • Wansiri Hospital
  • Bumrungrad International Hospital
  • Bangkok Hospital Phuket

These clinics are recognized for their expertise in cheek implant procedures and have been reviewed by international patients.

Can midface augmentation be combined with other facial procedures?

Yes, cheek implants can be combined with other facial procedures like rhinoplasty or facelifts to achieve a more balanced and harmonious facial appearance. A comprehensive consultation with a skilled surgeon can help determine the most suitable combination of procedures based on individual goals.

How can I prepare for cheek implant surgery?

Preparation includes undergoing a thorough medical evaluation, discussing aesthetic goals with the surgeon, and following pre-operative instructions such as avoiding certain medications and fasting before surgery. Ensuring a healthy lifestyle with proper nutrition and adequate rest can also contribute to a smoother recovery process.

As a result, 36,673 medical facilities provide excellent medical care in the country. 64 centers in the Kingdom have certificate of JCI (Joint Commission International), the international improver of healthcare quality and safety across the globe. What hotel service is provided here?

In the Kingdom of Thailand, hotels of different price ranges and service levels are presented. The level of Thai hotels is comparable to hotels in Tunisia, Morocco or Egypt. Most tourists choose 4 and 5 star hotels with all-inclusive meals. Such hotels have everything for a comfortable stay: varied food, a large well-groomed territory, animation for children and adults. Some hotels have their own water park, which guests can use for free. Budget travelers can afford to book an economical 3-star hotel with half board or no meals at all.

When is the best time to travel to Thailand?

The main advantage of Thai resorts is the long beach season. On the east coast and west coast the climate features are different, so take it into account when planning the trip. The best time to travel is during the cool and dry season between November and early April. A large influx of tourists is in March-May, when the air temperature is +30°C.

Do I need a visa?
