How Much Does Mammoplasty Cost in Thailand?

Mammoplasty in Thailand typically costs from $3,000 / ฿102,000 to $4,500 / ฿153,000. Prices primarily depend on the specific technique, implant brand choice, and clinic tier. In the US, similar procedures cost around $9,300 / ฿316,200 on average. Patients save approximately 59% with Thailand's medical offerings. Standard packages often include surgeon fees, anesthesia, a private hospital stay, and airport-to-clinic transfers.

  • Breast augmentation: Round implants generally start at a lower price point than teardrop-shaped anatomical options.
  • Combined procedures: A breast lift with implants typically adds 30-50% to the base surgery cost.
  • Breast reduction: Prices vary based on the volume of tissue removed and the surgical complexity.
  • Clinic location: Major medical hubs include Bangkok and Pattaya, where the most accredited facilities are located.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Choosing a multidisciplinary center offers superior value for complex cases. For instance, Bumrungrad International Hospital is JCI-accredited and ranked among the world's most technologically advanced. It serves patients from 190 countries, ensuring high international standards. At Asia Cosmetic Hospital, patients benefit from ISO-certified care with a reported 0% complication rate. This focus on safety can significantly reduce the potential for costly revision surgeries later.

Mammoplasty in Thailand: Your Travel Plan

Day 1: Arrival in Thailand
  • Upon landing in Thailand, you should ensure you have all necessary documentation, including medical records and any pre-operative instructions from your clinic.
  • Check into your hotel and get settled. You should stay close to the clinic for convenience.
  • Contact the clinic to confirm your consultation appointment and surgery schedule.
  • Relax and hydrate. Avoid alcohol and maintain a balanced diet to prepare your body for surgery.
Day 2: Pre-Operative Consultation
  • Attend a pre-operative consultation at the clinic. The doctor will conduct a thorough examination and necessary diagnostics, like ultrasound examinations, to assess your tissues.
  • Discuss your expectations and any concerns about the surgery. The doctor may suggest anatomical implants such as those from Mentor, Motiva, or Natrella, depending on availability and your anatomical needs.
  • Confirm the type and size of the implant. Anatomical implants may be slightly more expensive but offer a natural look.
  • Ensure you understand the procedure details, including the surgical approach and post-operative care instructions.
  • Complete any remaining paperwork and settle any outstanding payments as advised by the clinic.
Day 3: Surgery Day
  • Arrive at the clinic at the scheduled time. Bring comfortable clothing to wear post-surgery.
  • The surgical team will prepare you for the mammoplasty procedure, which may involve the removal and replacement of implants.
  • A qualified anesthesiologist will administer anesthesia, and the surgery will proceed as planned.
  • Post-surgery, you will be monitored in a recovery room until you are stable enough to be discharged or moved to an inpatient room if necessary.
  • Follow all immediate post-operative care instructions provided by the medical team.
Day 4: Initial Recovery
  • Rest is crucial during the initial recovery phase. Avoid any strenuous activities and follow the prescribed medication regimen.
  • Attend a follow-up appointment at the clinic to ensure proper healing and address any immediate concerns.
  • Wear any recommended post-surgical garments to support your new breast shape and aid in the healing process.
  • Maintain a healthy diet and stay hydrated to support recovery.
Day 5-7: Continued Recovery
  • Continue to follow post-operative instructions, including wearing compression garments and taking prescribed medications.
  • Monitor for any signs of complications, such as excessive swelling, bruising, or unusual pain. Contact the clinic if necessary.
  • Gradually increase light activities as tolerated, but avoid heavy lifting or intense exercises.
  • Attend any additional follow-up appointments to monitor progress and ensure proper healing.
Day 8-10: Preparing to Return Home
  • By this time, most patients are ready to travel home. Confirm with your doctor that it is safe to fly.
  • Ensure you have all necessary documentation and post-operative care instructions for your return home.
  • Arrange for any follow-up care needed in your home country, and know how to contact the clinic in Thailand if you have post-operative questions.
  • Pack all medications and post-surgical garments for your journey home.
  • Plan for a comfortable journey home, avoiding heavy lifting and ensuring you have assistance if needed.
Post-Return Home: Long-Term Recovery
  • Continue to follow all post-operative care instructions provided by your surgeon, including wearing support garments and attending follow-up appointments.
  • Gradually resume normal activities as advised by your healthcare provider. Ensure you do not rush the recovery process.
  • Stay in contact with the clinic in Thailand for any concerns or questions that arise during your recovery.
  • Monitor your progress and report any unusual symptoms to your healthcare provider immediately.

Despite the discomfort, the clinic, the staff, and my surgeon were all fantastic and provided great care
Monsplaty, Tummy Tuck and 360 Liposuction. My biggest concern going into this was what the recovery would actually feel like. It's not easy. The most challenging part has definitely been the constant tight feeling, which is something to be prepared for. My surgeon used a combination of liposuction and excision. Right now there is still some swelling, so it’s too early to know how my clothes will fit differently in the end. Despite the discomfort, the clinic, the staff, and my surgeon were all fantastic and provided great care. It was a professional and supportive environment, and I'm glad I made the choice to go there.
Very clean, very inviting. After care was good too. Everything was quick and easy. Communication via whatsapp made things easier as well. I travelled solo and the staff helped that little extra.
After surgery garments are not forgiving for us longer torso people. They were a bit short which added a lil discomfort when it rolled at the back. Other than that everything was really good.

Even at just 15 days post-op, the initial aspect is already better than expected
Seeing the surgical site for the first time was the moment everything finally felt real. Even at just 15 days post-op, the initial aspect is already better than expected. We used the penile inversion technique, and while the results look promising, the recovery requires a lot of patience and steady commitment to the healing process. My biggest challenge at this stage is definitely the physical discomfort of being seated for a long time. It is a process. The clinic staff has been very attentive during my stay, and I am expecting to have the catheter removed very soon. To anyone else preparing for this surgery, it’s not easy but it is a good experience overall.

I'm confident in my choice and would recommend this clinic
My biggest worry was how the results would actually look and feel afterward. Now that I'm in the early stages of recovery from the fat transfer graft, I can say the outcome is positive. The girth is already noticeably thicker. Everything is still slightly numb, as expected, but the visual change is definitely there. The surgeon and the entire staff were professional and clear with all information, which helped manage my concerns from the beginning. It's a relief. Based on the care I received and the initial results, I'm confident in my choice and would recommend this clinic.

The entire staff and my surgeon were great and supportive through it all
My biggest fear was the recovery, and it’s certainly a process that requires patience. The entire staff and my surgeon were great and supportive through it all. Right now, my chin is still very swollen, so I can't properly see the projection from the large, solid silicone implant yet. The numbness has been the hardest part. My lower lip feels slightly numb, which has made eating the biggest challenge so far. It’s a strange sensation. Despite the temporary side effects of healing, the care I received was solid and I would recommend this clinic.

My breathing is now even better than before
My biggest concern was that the result might look unnatural or that my breathing might be affected. Neither of these things happened. In fact, my breathing is now even better than before. During the open rhinoplasty, a small bump was removed and the bridge of my nose is now, even so soon after the procedure, already straighter, just as I wanted. In addition, the tip of my nose already looks much more defined. The staff and the surgeon were consistently supportive and answered all my questions patiently, which gave me a great deal of reassurance. I felt I was in good hands.

The surgeon and the whole medical team have been absolutely brilliant
I was really worried about the recovery period, and the truth is it hasn’t been as easy as I expected. My stomach is still swollen, and the compression garments are still tight, but the hardest part so far has been dealing with the annoying numb patches. That said, the surgeon and the whole medical team have been absolutely brilliant. The doctor explained to me that he used ultrasound technology (VASER) and removed between 3 and 4 litres of fat, and I felt I was in safe hands with them. Unfortunately, the clinic’s facilities weren’t up to the same standard as the quality of medical care, which is why I’ve given it a lower rating. Overall, I’m optimistic about the final result.

My surgeon was excellent, a definite 5/5
If you're considering a tummy tuck, know that the recovery is a real process. My surgeon was excellent, a definite 5/5. He performed a full tuck and repositioned my belly button, and everything already feels very tight, which is good. My biggest challenge right now is the compression garment; it's just a constant presence. While the surgeon was fantastic, there were some minor organizational points with the clinic and staff that could have been smoother. It's still too early to see the final flat result with all the healing left to do, but I feel confident in my choice. I would give this clinic a 9/10 recommendation to a friend.
The doctor he is excellent .soft spoken ,attentive and a great surgeon.
Rooms could be bigger so that attendant could stay at night. They have a reclining sofa not suitable for night sleeping. Front desk managers could be more attentive to every detail.

The initial appearance is honestly better than expected, even with all the healing that’s still to come
The initial appearance is honestly better than expected, even with all the healing that’s still to come. Seeing that was a huge relief. The surgeon and staff provided great support, making me feel secure from the start. Recovery is no joke. It was a positive step when the catheter was removed, but managing the dilation sessions has been very challenging. My biggest concern is the swelling, and I'm focused on trusting the process. The care and the surgical foundation are solid, which is why I'm rating everything positively.
Everything was perfect. The staff were kind, professional, and very supportive throughout the whole process. The doctor explained everything clearly and made me feel comfortable and cared for. The clinic was clean, organized, and exceeded my expectations. I’m very happy with my experience and grateful for the excellent care I received.
Nothing to complain about. Everything went smoothly and I was satisfied with the overall experience.

The surgeon and the staff were fantastic from start to finish
My biggest worry was whether I'd see a real difference after having Vaser on multiple areas, especially since they removed over four liters. It’s still early, but the swelling is much less now, and I can definitely see subtle changes taking shape. The surgeon and the staff were fantastic from start to finish. They are a solid team. The main challenge for me is just the compression garment making my skin itchy, but that's part of recovery. While the clinic facilities were generally fine, they weren't on the same level as the medical care itself. It's a process. Overall, I feel this was a worthwhile decision.
Almost 2 weeks post-lipo with Dr. Phatcharasak Kraisornphongsakul at ID Clinic. The bruising is fading and my clothes are fitting so much better already. My abdomen feels tighter, waist more defined, and inner thighs no longer rubbing as much when I walk. So happy I took this step for myself.

I can already see the lifted shape has great projection, which is what I was hoping for
My biggest concern going into this was ending up with a shape that looked strange or unnatural. It's a big decision. I'm still very early in my recovery, but I can already see the lifted shape has great projection, which is what I was hoping for. The surgeon and I decided on Motiva implants. The clinic staff and my surgeon were consistently professional and clear in their communication. The most difficult part for me right now is the significant implant tightness across my chest; it's a persistent discomfort you should be prepared for. It's a process. But the surgical work and care were very good.
I had my surgery at this clinic and I’m honestly very happy with the whole experience. From the first consultation to aftercare, everything was handled professionally and smoothly. The team was incredibly supportive and made me feel comfortable and confident every step of the way. A special thank you to the nurse for being so caring, kind, and attentive — it really made a big difference during my recovery. The results have exceeded my expectations, and I truly appreciate the effort and care from the entire team. I highly recommend this clinic to anyone considering surgery.

My biggest worry going into this was the quality of post-operative care, and that's where things fell short. While the surgeon's work was professional, the support from the clinic staff felt disorganized and was a source of stress during a vulnerable time. The clinic itself could also be improved. It’s a very mixed feeling. I can’t judge the aesthetic outcome yet because everything is still far too swollen to see clearly. On a positive note, getting the catheter removed was a definite relief and a good milestone. The medical part was handled, but the care aspect was lacking.
Language was a problem. Food was horrible, no attempt to take into account cultural differences. Had to wait over an hour for scheduled appointments. Minimal care by all. I would not recommend Wansiri Hospital to any of my friends. Staff would not reach out to my wife, when requested, to resolve problems.

I can honestly say the initial appearance is better than expected
My biggest worry was what the final result would look like. I can honestly say the initial appearance is better than expected. The surgeon used the penile inversion technique, and both the surgeon and the staff have been excellent. Recovery is, of course, a challenge. The catheter is manageable with proper care, and I am following the dilation schedule as instructed, but sitting for long periods is currently very difficult. It’s a real process. For anyone else getting ready for this, my advice is to be calm ☺️ and be happy for the wonderful physical change coming your way!

The surgeon and staff were very capable and provided solid care from start to finish
The main thing I worried about was the recovery, and it is definitely a process. At 15 days post-op, sleeping on my back is hard, and the pain is still moderate, though it's manageable. It's not easy. I’m glad that my nipple sensitivity feels normal, which was a specific concern since my surgeon used an incision around the nipple. The surgeon and staff were very capable and provided solid care from start to finish. My best advice for anyone else is what got me through the tougher moments: have patience and trust the procedure.
Very warm gesture I have been experienced from doctor and staff very cooperative and responsible.

The staff were fantastic and supportive through every step
I am noticing some subtle changes to my contour, which is encouraging. The staff were fantastic and supportive through every step. The surgeon was professional, though I had minor reservations. My main issue was with the clinic on the surgery side itself; the facilities felt a bit outdated and could use an upgrade. For that reason, my recommendation score is a 7. The people are wonderful, but the physical clinic has room for improvement.

From the beginning I was sure to make clear to the doctor my priorities & goals. He said it was well within what he was capable of doing. Post surgery, my nose was larger than agreed, and my hips smaller than desired. When I voiced dissatisfaction, the doctor said my expectations were unrealistic. I find this to be a poor response as my expectations were informed by the doctor himself. I've advised to doctor that if he thinks his capabilities are lesser, than he needs to be honest and clear with his clients from the beginning, not post-surgery. He did not seem to receive this advice and only wanted to shoo me away: I suppose it will be for future clients to judge if he applies this advice. The clinic did a revision for my hips, getting them closer to the goal, but still less than initially desired. The clinic also offered a revision in the future for my nose, but it is hard to justify the further expense of flight & hotel to get the result I already have paid so much for. Positive notes: the doctor does have a regard for what procedures are safe/risky which I appreciate. Additionally the staff are excellent and very kind. English isn't their best suit, but we got by alright with Google translate for the more intricate conversations. Even if sub-par, each of the procedures were an improvement which I should be grateful for. While I am saddened by the limitations, there is great potential for this clinic: I wish them the best in making the required changes to become a 5 star service.
Staff were nice
I found the results disappointing/underwhelming In my opinion - the doctor over promised and under delivered. I made very clear what my priorities/goals were and he said it was well within what he could do. This primarily pertains to my nose and my hip dips. My hip dips initially were not sufficiently filled & asymmetrical. He had to do a revision for my hip dips, which I'm glad filled the dips, but overall the volume is less than I hoped. The work he did on my nose was a tremendously small change. Sure swelling may still reduce, but I cannot imagine it will reduce to the extent we had agreed on pre-surgery. Just like with my hip dips, he said my expectations were unrealistic, and yet my expectations were informed by what he said he was capable of doing. Several times I tried to tell him if he thinks the expectations were unrealistic, he needs/needed to communicate to me/future clients better. He didn't seem to care about this feedback and instead appeared to just want me out of his office/the conversation to end. The breast implants are fine, but as I said to the doctor: I don't want large breasts unless my hips are sufficiently large in combination. The staff are very nice. There is of course a language barrier, which I guess is to be expected going to another country for this work. - we used Google translate which I think bridged the gap sufficiently. The communication issues largely I don't think are the result of language, but rather of the doctor not caring. I voiced skepticism/disappointment with my nose early on in the process. Finally on April 10th, I said strongly that I wanted a revision. At that point the doctor said he doesn't want to do a revision due to it being too close to the time of the flight (so for safety reasons which is fair enough). But he seems to think the job he did is in line with what I paid him to do: it is not. ID clinic says they'll do a revision in 5-6 months (included in the cost), but I would of course have to pay for another flight and hotel, which is understandable from a practical policy point of view, but is still difficult for me to justify the additional expense to get the result I originally already paid for.

FAQ about Mammoplasty in Thailand

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

Is breast augmentation in Thailand safe?

Breast augmentation in Thailand is highly safe when performed at JCI-accredited hospitals by board-certified surgeons. The country maintains a success rate exceeding 95% at top-tier facilities, utilizing FDA-approved implants like Mentor and Motiva. Leading surgeons often hold international credentials from the US, UK, or Australia.

  • Accreditation standards: Top hospitals like Bumrungrad International maintain JCI and Global Healthcare Accreditation (GHA).
  • Surgeon expertise: Many specialists possess over 20 years of experience and hold ISAPS memberships.
  • Advanced technology: Facilities like Wansiri Hospital utilize Class-100 clean rooms for maximum surgical sterility.
  • Safety protocols: Asia Cosmetic Hospital reports a 0% complication rate through cardiologist-supervised operations.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Patient volume is a major safety indicator in Bangkok. While the US average price is $9,300, Thailand offers the same quality for $3,000 to $4,500. Experienced doctors like Dr. Phatcharasak Kraisornphongsakul have performed 20,000+ operations, creating an experience gap that significantly lowers procedural risks.

Patient Consensus: While medical care in private hospital chains is world-class, the biggest challenge is managing recovery before long-haul flights. Patients emphasize that verifying Thai Medical Council credentials and ensuring clear English communication with the surgeon are essential for a smooth experience.

What credentials should I check for a Thai plastic surgeon?

Verifying a Thai plastic surgeon starts with a Medical Council of Thailand (TMC) license and board certification from the Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons of Thailand (ThPRS). Ensure the facility holds Joint Commission International (JCI) accreditation to guarantee U.S.-style safety protocols.

  • Specialized certification: Confirm certification specifically from the Thai Board of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
  • International memberships: High-tier surgeons often join the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS).
  • Hospital accreditation: Prioritize JCI or Thai Hospital Accreditation (HA) for major surgical safety.
  • Surgical volume: Seek experts performing 200+ annual breast procedures to minimize revision risks.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While many clinics market `international standards,` the real differentiator is longitudinal experience at high-volume centers. For instance, Dr. Phatcharasak Kraisornphongsakul at ID Clinic Bangkok has performed 20,000 procedures. Similarly, surgeons at Asia Cosmetic Hospital maintain a 0% complication rate by integrating on-site cardiologists and anesthesiologists for every surgery.

Patient Consensus: Experienced patients advise requesting at least 100 recent case photos rather than relying on English fluency. Verifying credentials through the official ThPRS registry is considered more reliable than clinic marketing or social media claims.

How long is the recovery timeline after a breast augmentation in Thailand?

Recovery after breast augmentation in Thailand typically involves 7 to 10 days of initial downtime before patients are cleared to fly. While basic activities resume within 2 weeks, full internal healing and final implant settling usually require 3 to 6 months for most patients.

  • Hospital stay: Expect 1 to 2 nights of inpatient monitoring for immediate post-operative care.
  • Initial downtime: Most patients return to desk-based work or light travel within 14 days.
  • Exercise restrictions: Avoid heavy lifting or strenuous gym workouts for 6 to 8 weeks.
  • Air travel: Surgeons typically require 10 to 14 days before authorizing international flights home.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While many clinics like Asia Cosmetic Hospital report 0% complication rates, the 10-day stay is a non-negotiable safety standard. Our data shows top Thai surgeons, including those with 28 years of experience, prioritize this window to manage swelling before cabin pressure changes during your flight.

Patient Consensus: Patients often find the first 3 to 7 days the most challenging due to chest tightness. Many recommend packing loose clothing and suggest utilizing local hotel recovery packages to manage the initial limited arm mobility comfortably.

What complications are associated with breast implants, and how are risks minimized?

Common complications include capsular contracture, implant rupture, and surgical risks like hematoma or infection. Thai surgeons minimize these through submuscular placement, using smooth-surfaced implants to prevent BIA-ALCL, and performing surgeries in JCI-accredited facilities using no-touch techniques like the Keller Funnel.

  • Capsular contracture: Abnormal scar tissue tightening that makes breasts feel hard or painful.
  • Implant rupture: Silent silicone leaks or visible saline deflation requiring surgical replacement.
  • Submuscular placement: Positioning implants beneath chest muscle to reduce rippling and contracture risk.
  • Accreditation standards: Clinics like Asia Cosmetic Hospital maintain 0% post-surgery complication rates.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Thailand’s top-tier hospitals like Bumrungrad International and Sikarin prioritize JCI and ISO certifications to offset local environmental risks. While heat and humidity can increase infection rates, these facilities utilize advanced sterile protocols and air filtration to maintain safety. Selecting a surgeon like Dr. Rushapol Sdawat, who holds American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) membership, ensures your procedure follows international safety benchmarks.

Patient Consensus: Patients emphasize choosing smooth implants to avoid long-term health issues and planning a 3-week stay to monitor for early healing complications. Many suggest budgeting for potential revisions, as naturally thin patients occasionally report visible rippling or minor asymmetry after the initial surgery.

Am I a good candidate for breast augmentation in Thailand?

You are a good candidate for breast augmentation in Thailand if you are in good health, have fully developed breasts, and maintain a stable weight. Reputable Bangkok clinics require patients to be at least 18 for saline or 22 for silicone implants while prioritizing non-smokers to ensure proper wound healing.

  • Physical health: No active infections, heart disease, or uncontrolled medical conditions like diabetes.
  • Stable weight: Maintaining a consistent weight for 6 to 12 months before surgery.
  • Smoking status: Must quit nicotine 4–6 weeks before surgery to prevent healing complications.
  • Recovery logistics: Ability to stay in Thailand 7–14 days to minimize blood clot risks.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Thai clinics like Asia Cosmetic Hospital maintain a 0% post-surgery complication rate by utilizing anesthesiologists and cardiologists during every procedure. While many centers accept patients with a body mass index under 30, surgeons like Dr. Phatcharasak Kraisornphongsakul at ID Clinic Bangkok, who has performed 20,000+ operations, prioritize high-volume experience to ensure safety in tropical climates.

Patient Consensus: Many find results highly natural for under $5,000, but warn that heat and humidity increase infection risks for those with a high body mass index. Success often depends on having a recovery buddy for the first 48 hours to manage daily tasks and lifting.

What should I pack and prepare for surgery travel?

Packing for mammoplasty in Thailand requires prioritizing comfort, mobility, and heat management. You should focus on front-opening clothing and surgical essentials to ensure a smooth recovery in 35°C humidity. Essential items include loose button-down shirts, multiple compression bras, and a long charging cable for your hospital stay.

  • Recovery clothing: Bring 5+ front-opening shirts to avoid lifting arms over your head.
  • Surgical bras: Pack 3+ compression bras as local pharmacies often have limited size options.
  • Heat management: Include cooling towels and light cotton fabrics for Thailand's high humidity levels.
  • Documentation: Carry printed medical records, passport copies, and Suvarnabhumi Airport wheelchair assistance forms.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Data shows patients often choose Asia Cosmetic Hospital or Bumrungrad International Hospital for their high safety ratings and JCI accreditation. A smart strategy is booking AC-equipped hotels near the clinic because monsoon heat can significantly increase post-operative swelling and discomfort.

Patient Consensus: Travelers emphasize bringing zip-front sports bras and stool softeners to manage post-anesthesia effects. Many recommend carrying snacks and ginger chews for the long flight home to manage nausea.

How noticeable will the scars be, and how can I minimize them?

Mammoplasty scars in Thailand typically fade into thin, pale lines within 12 to 18 months. Visibility depends on incision placement—such as the inframammary fold or periareolar border—and your genetic healing response. Certified surgeons at JCI-accredited facilities use layered suturing to minimize tension and improve aesthetic outcomes.

  • Incision placement: Inframammary incisions hide naturally in the breast fold for maximum concealment.
  • Silicone therapy: Using silicone gel sheets or ointments consistently for months softens and flattens tissue.
  • Sun protection: Applying SPF 50+ prevents permanent darkening of scars during the first year.
  • Activity limits: Avoiding strenuous stretching for 4–6 weeks prevents incisions from widening or thickening.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Data from top-tier clinics like Bumrungrad International Hospital shows that surgeons with over 20 years of experience, such as Dr. Ajchariya Sarovath, prioritize tension-free closure techniques. While budget clinics may offer lower prices, high-volume centers performing thousands of procedures annually often provide more consistent long-term scar maturation results. Choosing a surgeon with international fellowships usually correlates with more meticulous internal suturing methods.

Patient Consensus: Many patients find that scars look most prominent at 3 months but show significant improvement by month 9. Consistent use of silicone products and avoiding smoking are frequently cited as the most effective ways to ensure scars become nearly invisible.
