How Much Does Penile implant surgery Cost in Thailand?

The cost of penile implant surgery in Thailand typically ranges from $4,000 / ฿136,000 to $6,800 / ฿231,200. Prices vary depending on the type of implant (malleable or inflatable), the surgeon’s experience, and the hospital’s reputation. In the United States, the average cost is $25,000 / ฿850,000 (per AUA). This means penile implant surgery in Thailand is about 78% less expensive than in the U.S.

Thai packages usually cover pre-op evaluation, the surgery itself, a branded implant (Coloplast, AMS), anesthesia, hospital stay (1–2 nights), medications, and follow-up visits. In the U.S., the quoted price often includes only the surgeon’s fee, with extra charges for the implant, anesthesia, hospital, and aftercare. Always confirm exactly what’s included in your Thailand surgery package.

Penile implant surgery in Thailand: Your Travel Plan

Day 1: Arrival in Thailand
  • Upon arrival in Thailand, you should ensure you have all necessary travel documents and your appointment confirmation for the penile implant surgery.
  • Contact the clinic to confirm your arrival and schedule any pre-surgery consultations.
  • Check into your accommodation and rest after your journey.
Day 2: Pre-Surgery Consultation
  • You need to attend a comprehensive pre-surgery consultation with your urologist and anesthesiologist. This includes a detailed discussion about the surgery, expected outcomes, and recovery process.
  • Undergo a physical examination, including blood tests, an EKG, and a chest X-ray, to ensure you are fit for surgery.
  • Discuss the types of penile implants available, such as the 3-piece penile prosthesis or malleable implants. Choose the most suitable option for your needs.
  • Receive instructions on pre-surgery preparations, such as fasting or medication adjustments.
Day 3: Surgery Day
  • Arrive at the clinic or hospital at the scheduled time for your penile implant surgery.
  • The procedure will be performed under general anesthesia. The surgeon will make an incision in the groin, base of the penis, or scrotum to insert the implant components.
  • If you opted for an inflatable implant, the surgeon will place inflatable cylinders in the penis, a pump in the scrotum, and a fluid reservoir in the abdomen.
  • If a malleable implant is chosen, flexible rods will be inserted into the penis.
  • Post-surgery, you will be monitored in a recovery room. You may stay overnight in the hospital for observation.
Day 4: Post-Surgery Care
  • Receive post-operative care instructions, including pain management and wound care.
  • Learn how to use the implant, particularly if you have an inflatable device. This involves operating the pump and release valve.
  • Rest and limit physical activity to allow for healing. Avoid strenuous activities and follow the clinic’s guidelines on when to resume normal activities.
Day 5-7: Recovery Period
  • Continue to rest and monitor for any signs of complications, such as infection or excessive swelling. Contact the clinic if you notice any concerning symptoms.
  • Attend a follow-up appointment with your surgeon to assess the healing process and discuss any concerns.
  • Follow the prescribed medication regimen and attend any additional follow-up consultations as scheduled.
Day 8: Preparing for Departure
  • Ensure you have received all necessary post-operative care instructions and medications for your return home.
  • Contact the clinic to confirm any remote follow-up arrangements, such as virtual consultations or check-ins.
  • Pack your belongings and prepare for your journey home. Ensure you have all medical documentation and contact information for the clinic.
Day 9: Return Home
  • Travel back home, taking care to avoid heavy lifting or strenuous activities during your journey.
  • Continue to follow the post-operative care plan provided by your surgeon, including any restrictions on physical activity and sexual intercourse.
  • Schedule any necessary follow-up appointments with your local healthcare provider to ensure ongoing recovery and implant functionality.
