How Much Does Carpal Tunnel Syndrome Surgery Cost in Turkey?

Carpal tunnel syndrome surgery in Turkey typically costs from $1,500 to $2,500. The final price depends on the surgical technique, such as endoscopic or open release, and the clinic location in hubs like Istanbul, Antalya, or Bursa. Patients save around 68% compared to the US, where the average price is $6,300. Standard packages often include preoperative tests, doctor consultations, and surgeon fees.

  • Surgical technique: Endoscopic procedures typically cost 20-30% more than traditional open surgery due to specialized equipment.
  • City variations: Packages in Istanbul and Ankara may run 15-20% higher than in regional cities.
  • Clinical facility: Premium JCI-accredited hospitals with high international patient volumes often feature tiered pricing structures.
  • Complex cases: Procedures involving nerve transposition or microsurgical repair require specialized hand surgeons and add to costs.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Choosing a multi-specialty center like Hisar Hospital Intercontinental or Memorial Şişli ensures access to JCI-accredited care. While basic release packages start around $1,300, opting for renowned experts like Dr. Erden Erturer, who has 26 years of experience, provides high value for complex cases. Istanbul remains the primary hub, offering competitive all-inclusive rates that often cover diagnostic tests and initial consultations.

I would definitely recommend this hospital and all the staff, I could not recommend them highly enough
The great experiance started from pick up from airport with private comfortable taxi to hotel, and the next day the taxi to hospital. The hospital was first class, clean to such a high standard with exceptional treatment and care, from everyone looking after us we could not fault it in anyway. The surgeon, anathesist, nurses and the interpretor, were all amazing, all looked after me so well and discussed everything that was going to happen and carried out several tests, l felt very comfortable in their hands and their hospital, my private room was amazing. My husband stayed in the hospital the whole time with me, where they catered for his needs, sleeping the night and supplying his food and drinks, making us both feel very comfortable. I would definately recommend this hospital and all the staff, l could not reccomend them highly enough. I will if l need more treatment, definately go back there. Finished with private taxi to airport, at no extra cost. Thank you all.
From start to finish l was made to feel very calm and relaxed and at ease all who looked after me were so kind and caring.
There was nothing that l didn't like. It was all amazing.

FAQ about Carpal Tunnel Syndrome Surgery in Turkey

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

Can I have surgery on both hands at once?

You can undergo bilateral carpal tunnel surgery in Turkey, though surgeons often recommend staging procedures 4 to 6 weeks apart. Simultaneous surgery minimizes total downtime and costs but requires 24/7 assistance, as basic tasks like dressing and hygiene become impossible without functional hands during the initial recovery.

  • Technique impact: Endoscopic release or neurolysis allows for faster recovery than traditional open surgery.
  • Support needs: Patient coordination for 24/7 personal care is mandatory for at least 7 days.
  • Professional expertise: Surgeons like Dr. Ertugrul Pinar at Hisar Hospital have performed 900+ orthopedic procedures.
  • Recovery timeline: Most patients return to desk work within 2 days using dictation software.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Data reveals a significant value gap in hand surgery packages in Istanbul. While high-end neurolysis packages reach $6,500, experienced surgeons at JCI-accredited centers like Hisar Hospital offer comprehensive release for approximately $1,300. Since bilateral surgery doubles the physical toll, choosing a package with included VIP transfers is vital for comfortable transport while both hands are bandaged.

Patient Consensus: Patients strongly caution against bilateral surgery due to the intense reality of being unable to eat or use the restroom independently. Most suggest waiting at least 1 month between hands to maintain basic self-care and mobility during healing.

What is the success rate for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome surgery in Turkey?

p>Success rates for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome surgery in Turkey range from 90% to 95%. Most patients achieve significant symptom relief and restored hand function. High outcomes are supported by JCI-accredited facilities and surgeons using minimally invasive endoscopic release techniques to ensure faster recovery and minimal scarring.

  • Symptom relief: Over 90% of patients report a complete resolution of pain and numbness.
  • Sleep improvement: Roughly 90% of patients experience an immediate end to sleep-disrupting night pain.
  • Low recurrence: The need for repeat surgery is rare, affecting only 1.8% to 2% of patients.
  • Safety record: Major complication rates remain low at approximately 1% in specialized hand clinics.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Clinical data shows that surgeon volume is the strongest predictor of success. Experts like Dr. Ertugrul Pinar at Hisar Hospital Intercontinental have performed over 900 orthopedic procedures. Choosing a high-volume specialist often correlates with lower revision rates compared to general orthopedic surgeons who treat fewer nerve entrapment cases annually.

Patient Consensus: Patients frequently highlight the immediate relief from chronic tingling and the high standard of private hospital rooms. Many recommend booking a 2-week stay to allow for initial physiotherapy and to manage potential swelling caused by the local climate.

How long should I plan to stay in Turkey for the surgery and follow-up?

Most patients should plan a 5 to 7 day stay in Turkey for carpal tunnel surgery. This timeframe allows for a next-day procedure under local anesthesia, initial healing monitoring, and a follow-up consultation. While recovery starts within 48 hours, staying a full week ensures safe travel and professional wound care.

  • Surgery timing: Procedures typically occur on day 1 or 2 of your arrival.
  • Hospital stay: This is generally an outpatient day surgery requiring no overnight hospital stay.
  • Follow-up window: Surgeons schedule a critical check-up 3 to 7 days after the release.
  • Flight readiness: Patients are usually fit to fly 5 days post-op with hand elevation.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While many clinics like Hisar Hospital Intercontinental offer outpatient surgery, the secret to a smooth recovery is staying at least 5 days. Data shows peak swelling often occurs on day 3. Surgeons like Dr. Ertugrul Pinar, who has performed over 900 orthopedic procedures, emphasize that local follow-up for stitch removal is safer than rushing home. If your package includes airport transfers, confirm they provide a vehicle with enough space to keep your hand comfortably elevated during the 45-60 minute drive to Istanbul airports.

Patient Consensus: Patients recommend a 7-day window to manage post-op swelling before flying. Many suggest confirming if stitches are absorbable to avoid needing a clinic visit once back home.

Is Carpal Tunnel Syndrome surgery safe in Turkey?

Carpal tunnel syndrome surgery in Turkey is highly safe when performed in JCI-accredited facilities. Success rates for nerve decompression often exceed 90% across specialized clinics. Turkish hand surgeons frequently maintain international board certifications, utilizing advanced endoscopic and neurolysis techniques to ensure minimal scarring and rapid functional recovery.

  • Provider credentials: Surgeons like Dr. Erden Erturer offer 26 years of specialized hand surgery experience.
  • Clinical standards: Hospitals like Memorial Şişli maintain JCI accreditation and ISO international safety standards.
  • Success rates: Nerve release procedures typically yield over 90% relief from pain and numbness.
  • Advanced technology: Facilities utilize endoscopic release methods for smaller incisions and faster 1-week recovery.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While many clinics offer carpal tunnel release, premium packages from Memorial Health Group include specialized neurolysis and endoscopy treatments. This level of microsurgery is often bundled for $6,500. For standard release, Hisar Hospital provides high-volume expertise at $1,500 with airport transfers included. Always confirm if your surgeon specifically performs the endoscopic approach, as it significantly reduces post-operative hand weakness compared to open surgery.

Patient Consensus: Patients report high satisfaction with the seamless logistics and cleanliness of private hospitals. Many advise securing a local physiotherapist at home before traveling to ensure smooth rehabilitation after the initial stitches are removed.

What surgical techniques are available for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome surgery in Turkey?

Turkish surgical centers provide open carpal tunnel release, endoscopic release, and mini-open techniques to treat median nerve compression. High-tech facilities like Memorial Şişli Hospital and Hisar Hospital Intercontinental utilize Joint Commission International standards to perform these procedures using advanced microsurgery and ultrasound-guided methods.

  • Open release: Traditional 2–3 cm incision allowing direct visualization of the carpal ligament.
  • Endoscopic release: Minimally invasive approach using 1–2 tiny punctures and specialized camera guidance.
  • Mini-open technique: Hybrid method using smaller 2 cm incisions to reduce visible scarring.
  • Ultrasound-guided procedures: Cutting-edge release performed through a poke hole using real-time imaging guidance.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While basic release starts at $1,500, premium packages often include neurolysis. Surgeons at Memorial Health Group specialized in hand surgery frequently bundle this nerve cleaning technique. This addition helps patients with long-term compression achieve better sensory recovery than standard release alone.

Patient Consensus: Patients report that while open surgery feels more traditional, the endoscopic option allows a significantly faster return to daily hand use. Many emphasize the importance of receiving detailed surgical reports in English for their doctors back home.

What is the complete recovery timeline after Carpal Tunnel Syndrome surgery in Turkey?

Complete recovery after carpal tunnel syndrome surgery in Turkey typically takes 3 to 12 months. Most patients resume light activities within 2 weeks, while full grip strength usually returns by month 6. Specialized hand surgeons in JCI-accredited Istanbul clinics use endoscopic techniques to accelerate this healing timeline.

  • Immediate phase: Pain and swelling peak within 5 days before dropping sharply for most patients.
  • Wound healing: Surgeons typically remove bulky splints and stitches between day 7 and day 14.
  • Return to work: Desk work resumes in 2 weeks, while manual labor requires 6 to 12 weeks.
  • Full restoration: Nerve regeneration and maximum hand strength normalization can take up to 1 full year.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Choosing a surgeon like Dr. Ertugrul Pinar, who has performed over 900 orthopedic procedures, significantly impacts early recovery. Data shows that experienced specialists often favor endoscopic release, which allows patients to drive by week 3. This is notably faster than the 4-6 weeks often required for traditional open-release surgery healing.

Patient Consensus: Expect immediate relief from tingling, but prioritize night splinting for 6 weeks to prevent setbacks. Many patients report that while pain vanishes quickly, grip strength takes much longer to return.

How long should I plan to stay in Turkey for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome surgery?

Patients should plan to stay in Turkey for 7 to 14 days for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome surgery. While the release is a 15–30 minute outpatient procedure under local anesthesia, this duration allows for pre-operative tests, initial healing, and a professional follow-up before flying home safely.

  • Arrival timing: Arrive 1 day before surgery for physical exams and nerve conduction studies.
  • Clinical stay: Most procedures are outpatient, though some clinics provide a 1-day hospital stay.
  • Follow-up window: Schedule a final check-up 6 to 10 days post-operation for stitch assessment.
  • Bilateral recovery: Patients treating both hands simultaneously require 12 to 14 days for basic mobility.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Data from top-tier clinics like Hisar Hospital Intercontinental and Memorial show a preference for hand specialists with 900+ orthopedic procedures. Choosing a highly experienced surgeon often leads to smoother initial recovery, which is critical for international patients who need to regain enough finger dexterity for travel within the first week.

Patient Consensus: Many patients appreciate packages that include private transfers, as navigating transport with a bandaged hand is difficult. Those who stayed at least 10 days felt more confident flying, noting that early post-flight swelling is a common but manageable reality.
