Bookimed is a company of a good modern level, in any case do not think not to trust
I want to evaluate the work of Bookimed as a whole on the results of organizing the treatment of a father well. After examining the results of the surveys, we were presented with options for treatment. Despite the fact that initially we practically had a clinic for treatment selected (on our own), we revised and made a decision to undergo treatment at a clinic in Germany, which Bookimed offered. For all organizational issues, both Bookimed and the logistics company from the clinic offered support. We did everything on our own, but still it is nice when they want to help you. There were minor inconsistencies in organizational issues. But with the mines that provide support, always in touch and help them solve. But as for the treatment process at Helios Krefeld, everything is on the level. The result is satisfied. Of the minuses - the discharge process is not fully organized, the time for receipt of documents is not specific and rather long. A translator is needed. After we returned from treatment, we are awaiting the receipt of documents (conclusions) from the clinic, we have not left us on this issue either. Bookimed is a company of a good modern level, in any case do not think not to trust. The main thing is to keep the level and only raise it. Read more less

We thank Professor Gross for the difficult and very difficult operation. We are sure that in the CIS, and in many European clinics, Alexander would not come out of intensive care. Professor - the golden hands. Also thanks to the guys accompanying us as translators, Vladimir and Lydia. Moral support and qualified medical translation they provided completely. Also thanks to all employees of the Asklepios polyclinic, our two-week stay in the room of increased comfort and a week-long stay of Alexander in the intensive care unit, although it was not easy, but the staff did everything to help and facilitate the rehabilitation period. Very home furnishings and not fake care.

My name is Sergey, I am undergoing treatment at the oncology department of the Nordwest Clinic in Frankfurt am Main. I would like to note the high professional level of doctors, the technical equipment of the clinic at the proper level. I want to express special gratitude to Professor Elka Yeager, senior doctor Kiselichki, Dr. Weber, the highest level of professionalism, are very friendly and attentive, the junior staff are smart, everything is super, I’m very pleased with the treatment, if not for one “but” ... Because of ignorance language had to contact the company "Phoenix Service", which is an intermediary for the provision of medical services, led by Radislav. My communication with them began with the fact that before arrival they demanded a significant prepayment, which was timely transferred to their account. After arriving at the clinic, I had to transfer money several times, rather big money. I persistently asked the company’s employees to conclude an agreement with me on the provision of services by Phoenix Service, in order to specifically understand which services and for what specific payment the services will be provided. However, no contracts, as well as invoices with prices, were provided to me, which directly testifies to dishonesty. Only two months later I received the clinic’s bills (with which I completely agree) and separately a bill from Phoenix Service for the services rendered, after viewing which there were simply no words ... As it turned out, being treated in Germany was not expensive, it was expensive to pay for the services of Phoenix invoiced, which either didn’t turn out at all, or turned out to be in the wrong amount and at very high prices. I tried to talk with the head of the company Radislav, saying that I did not agree with the bill, to which I received the answer "if something does not suit you, you can refuse our services further." I officially wrote an appeal to the clinic about the detachment from this dishonest company, to which I received a positive response. He also wrote an official letter to Phoenix with a request to review the account, to which he still has not received an answer. I want to warn everyone who is in my position, those cancer patients who sell everything in order to pay for treatment and live on, but these “phoenixes” don’t stop at anything to enrich themselves at their expense.

Doctor with a capital letter After a long rush about doctors, I finally found Professor Schels - not just a world specialist, but also a sympathetic person who attentively and thoughtfully listened to my whole story, looked at the extracts and appointed additional examinations. All diagnostics took place extremely quickly and clearly. The prescribed treatment of Professor Scheels is working, this is the most important thing. Special thanks to the accompanying Vladimir for the clear translation and help in resolving all issues.

FAQ about Rectal resection in Germany

Rectal cancer management depends on the extent of tumor, its stage and proximity to the anus. In most cases, surgeons preserve patient’s quality of life and ability to carry out self-care. The success rate of tumor treatment in early stages is up to 98%.

Rectal cancer diagnostics

Physicians utilize the following diagnostic methods to determine tumor size, its location and metastatic spread:

  • PET-CT scan;
  • MRI;
  • biopsy;
  • ultrasound;
  • palpation;
  • anoscopy.
  • physical exam;

Indications and contraindications for rectal cancer surgery

There are following indications for rectal tumor surgery:

  • the tumor is operable;
  • the procedure doesn’t pose any risks to patient’s health;
  • cancer is localized in the rectum;
chemo- and radio therapies do not yield needed effect.

Contraindications for the operation include:

  • poor overall health condition of a patient;
  • cancer has spread to other organs;
  • severe infections (HIV, hepatitis);
  • blood pathologies that may affect clotting (anemia).

Types of rectal cancer surgery

Surgery is the main and the most effective tumor treatment option. The type of preferred operation depends on tumor localization and its size.

  • Local resection surgery is performed for patients with early stages of cancer. The tumor and margin tissues around it are removed. This operation is performed without making incisions - through patient’s anal cavity. The procedure doesn’t put patient’s body under much stress and preserves all its functions. Postoperative recovery in a hospital takes up to 1 week. After the operation, physicians study the margin tissue to determine whether cancer was removed completely.
  • Abdominoperineal resection also referred to as APR for rectal cancer. Physicians perform this operation for patients with late stages of the disease, when other management options are ineffective. During the procedure, a part of patient’s colon, rectum, and anus are removed. In some cases surgeons also remove adjacent lymph nodes while performing APR for rectal cancer to prevent cancer spreading. This rectal cancer surgery is complex, performed under general anesthesia. Surgeons make an incision in patient’s abdomen to access cancerous focus points. Then surgeons make an opening in the stomach and connect the end of the bowel to it. It is called a stoma. A special bag is attached to the opening for stool collection. This way patients will be able to empty their stomachs.
  • Low anterior resection, also known as LAR rectal cancer surgery. During this operation, physicians remove tumors in the upper part of the rectum. It is applied for stage 1 cancer, rarer - for stages 2-3. During the intervention, a part of the rectum containing tumor is removed. The colon is then sewn to the remaining part of the rectum. Patients who don’t require colostomy after the procedure may need ileostomy. This manipulation has the same intent as colostomy but is completely reversible. Patients need it for a period of up to 8 weeks while the rectum recovers after LAR rectal cancer surgery. The operation is performed by a team of surgeons in 2-3 hours. A patient stays under general anesthesia. Hospitalization lasts for up to 7 days, rehabilitation takes 4-7 weeks.
