Qualifications
I am a bariatric and metabolic surgeon working at the intersection of clinical care, surgical innovation, and healthcare system development. My work is structured around an integrated healthcare model that combines hospital infrastructure, specialized clinical practices, surgeon education, research collaboration, and cross-border healthcare delivery. I am the founder of Hospital CYNTAR in Tijuana, Mexico, a surgical facility designed to support advanced minimally invasive, metabolic, robotic, and international patient care. Within this platform, I lead specialized clinical practices: • Obesity Control Center (OCC) – Bariatric & metabolic surgery • Ariel Center – Cosmetic & aesthetic surgery I am also Director of the Academy of Surgical Innovation (ASI), an education and implementation platform focused on training surgeons in minimally invasive and robotic surgery across Latin America. Through the Instituto Internacional de Medicina Metabólica (IIMM) and cross-border academic collaborations, including work with the University of California, San Diego (UCSD), I participate in research and training initiatives supporting safe, high-volume, guideline-based surgical care. I am President of the Tourism Council of Baja California, leading strategic initiatives to position the region as a premier international destination for tourism, investment, and world-class healthcare services. A key component of my work has been outcomes validation.
