Dr. Christoph Neumayer is the professor at the University Hospital of Surgery, Clinical Department of Vascular Surgery, Medical University of Vienna. During medical training, he received two grants from the Medical University, where Neumayer worked at the Institute of Anatomy and was responsible for image analysis and morphometry, after completing training in general, visceral and transplant surgery (including several academic semesters in various surgical departments in Austria), he joined the training in vascular surgery at the Clinical Department of Vascular Surgery at the Medical University of Vienna. After completing his studies in 2009, he was a senior doctor at the University Hospital of Surgery. Dr. Neumayer is a specialist in the treatment of complex aortic aneurysms, chest aortic diseases, the treatment of prosthetic infections, surgery of the carotid arteries and supraortal branches, peripheral vascular surgery and endothoracic sympathectomy.
The teaching activities of Professor Neumayer regularly include the main lecture on vascular surgery and the management of numerous diploma and doctoral dissertations. In addition, he was responsible for creating the “Vascular Surgery” training catalog for KPJ students in Austria. His research activities are aimed at studying the pathophysiology of ischemic reperfusion damage to skeletal muscles, the pathophysiology of aortic aneurysms and carotid stenosis and long-term results after endothoracic sympathectomy. His scientific awards include the 2002 Finland Award, the European Surgery Award and the Science Award of the Medical Society of Lower Austria. Professor Neumayer is currently the visiting professor at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow. Professor Neumayer publishes materials on clinical and experimental vascular surgery and regularly gives review presentations and scientific materials for national and international conferences. The professor works as an expert in numerous scientific journals and is a member of a number of national and international specialized societies.
