Univ. Prof. Dr. Fritz Leutmezer is a highly respected Austrian neurologist, known for his expertise in multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, headaches, and neurodegenerative diseases. With decades of clinical and academic experience, he has made outstanding contributions to neurology both in Austria and internationally.
He studied medicine at the University of Vienna in the early 1990s and soon began his residency at the Medical University of Vienna and the Vienna General Hospital (AKH), one of Europe’s leading centers for neurology. By 2001, he became a certified specialist in neurology, marking the start of his independent career as a neurologist.
- 2002 – Achieved habilitation (venia docendi) in neurology, allowing him to take on an Associate Professorship at the Medical University of Vienna.
2000s–2010s – Acted as principal investigator in numerous international clinical trials on multiple sclerosis, shaping modern therapy standards.
