Univ. Prof. Dr. Klaus Kaczirek is an Austrian consultant surgeon in the Department of General Surgery at the Medical University of Vienna, with additional qualification in visceral surgery. He studied medicine at the University of Vienna from 1992 to 1999, becoming a fully trained specialist in general surgery in 2006, and also earning the title of Associate Professor that same year. In 2009 he obtained specialist status for visceral surgery. His clinical focus is on hepatobiliary-pancreatic surgery, endocrine surgery (thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal), and oncological surgery of abdominal organs such as liver, gallbladder, pancreas, stomach, intestines and spleen. He leads in research on liver tumors and hormonal surgery, is member of several surgical and endocrine societies, and serves as editor or reviewer for numerous medical journals.
