With a career spanning more than three decades, he has played a key role in establishing Vienna as one of Europe’s foremost centers for endocrine surgery.
He studied medicine at the University of Vienna, where he graduated in the 1980s, and completed his residency in general and visceral surgery at the Medical University of Vienna. Early in his career, he focused on endocrine and metabolic disorders, developing refined surgical approaches for complex thyroid and adrenal diseases.
1980s – Completed medical studies and began residency in general and visceral surgery.
1990s – Specialized in endocrine surgery, performing thyroidectomy, parathyroid surgery, and adrenal gland resections.
2000s – Appointed Professor of Surgery at the Medical University of Vienna, contributing to research in neuroendocrine and thyroid malignancies.
2010s – Served as Deputy Head of the Department of General Surgery at Vienna General Hospital (AKH), leading clinical innovation and education in endocrine and oncologic surgery.
