Martin Schindl

Univ. Prof. Dr. Martin Schindl is a highly respected Austrian general, visceral, and transplant surgeon, known for his expertise in hepato-pancreato-biliary (HPB) surgery, liver transplantation, and oncologic abdominal surgery. With decades of surgical and academic experience, he has played a vital role in advancing complex abdominal procedures and interdisciplinary cancer treatment in Austria.

He studied medicine at the University of Vienna, graduating in the 1990s, and went on to complete his specialist training in general and visceral surgery at the Medical University of Vienna. His early focus on the liver and pancreas laid the foundation for his later specialization in transplantation and complex oncologic surgery.

     1990s – Completed medical studies and began surgical training in general and visceral surgery at Vienna General Hospital (AKH).

     2010s – Appointed Professor of Surgery at the Medical University of Vienna and became a senior member of the Transplant Surgery Division, focusing on liver transplantation and multivisceral resections.

     Today – Serves as senior consultant at Wiener Privatklinik and continues clinical and academic work at the Medical University of Vienna, treating patients with complex abdominal tumors, liver failure, and biliary tract diseases.
