Qualifications
Specialization in Neonatal and Pediatric Heart Surgery
Dr. Tireli performs over 100 neonatal cardiac surgeries every year. He treats infants with extremely low birth weights, which helps improve neonatal survival rates. His work includes arterial switch operations and total pulmonary return anomalies. The specialist also treats cases of pulmonary banding and Norwood procedures.
He has completed 15 surgeries using advanced hybrid techniques — a method combining traditional surgery with minimally invasive catheter-based procedures. Dr. Tireli performs 30 reconstructions for aortic anomalies and PDA ligations in newborns. Patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) ligation is a procedure to close a persistent opening between two major blood vessels leading from the heart.
Conditions Treated
- Tetralogy of Fallot
- Atrial and ventricular septal defects
- Transposition of the great arteries (TGA)
- Atelocardia — a rare congenital heart defect or condition where the heart is incomplete
- Mitral valve prolapse
- Aortic valve insufficiency
Surgical Procedures
- Open heart surgery
- Pediatric aortic and mitral valve replacement
- Valvuloplasty
- Heart cryoablation — a procedure using extreme cold to scar heart tissue and block irregular electrical signals
- Coronary artery bypass grafting
- Transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI)
