Doctor Luca Aldrighetti is a highly experienced hepatobiliary surgeon and the Head of the Hepatobiliary and General Surgery Division at the San Raffaele Research Hospital in Milan. He is an international pioneer of minimally invasive liver surgery, having initiated and developed the San Raffaele laparoscopic liver resection program with more than 1,000 cases to date. He has a PhD in Technological Applications and Experimental Methodologies, is Professor at the Vita-Salute San Raffaele University and the IRCCS San Raffaele Hospital, and is a member of 18 national and international scientific societies.

Primary clinical and research activities include surgical oncology topics on colorectal liver metastases, perihilar and intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma and hepatocellular carcinoma, techniques for liver resection, and minimally invasive hepatobiliary surgery, with a personal series of more than 3,000 liver resections, more than 900 of which performed laparoscopically.
Has written over 650 research works. Initiated and developed the San Raffaele laparoscopic liver resection program — a national and international leader in this area with a series of laparoscopic resections that currently counts more of 1,000 cases.
