1984-1992 - received higher medical education at the Medical Institute in Rostov-on-Don (Russia).
2014-15 – advanced training in the field of heart valve correction and replacement in Austria, Belgium and Lithuania .
2011-2012 — completed clinical training in cardiothoracic surgery at the Marie Lannelongue Medical Center (Paris, France), one of the most renowned European clinics specializing in the replacement of heart valves and arterial vessels, bypass surgery and correction of congenital heart defects.
2010-2018 - worked as a cardiac surgeon at the Sheba Medical Center (Tel Hashomer, Israel, including at the Children's Hospital. In 2018, he was appointed head of the aortic surgery unit.

Prof. Dr. Mert Yilmaz is a board-certified cardiovascular surgeon with more than 30 years of experience. He specializes in both adult and pediatric cardiac surgery. He graduated from Istanbul University in 1988. He completed his residency at Uludag University and received further training at the Royal South Hants Hospital in the UK.
Dr. Yilmaz was among the first in Turkey to perform endovascular repair of abdominal aneurysms. He completed the country’s second case. Dr. Faruk Gençoğlu completed his medical faculty career, which he started at Samsun 19 Mayıs University, by joining the academic staff of Istanbul Cerrahpaşa Cardiology Institute in 2015 and receiving his specialization in 2020. Prof. Emin Tireli, MD, is a leading pediatric cardiovascular surgeon. He has performed over 6,329 congenital cardiac surgeries since 1993. He is known worldwide for being one of the first to use the complex Nikaidoh procedure for transposition of the great arteries (TGA).
Dr. Tireli performs more than 100 neonatal cardiac surgeries each year. His expertise includes arterial switch operations, total pulmonary return anomalies, pulmonary banding, and Norwood procedures.
