CELL GRAND CLINIC: more details about the clinic

Japan, Osaka

Cell Grand Clinic is a private regenerative medicine facility established in 2006. Located in Osaka's Shinsaibashi district, it specializes in autologous adipose-derived stem cell therapies. The medical team operates within Japan's Act on the Safety of Regenerative Medicine.

Accreditations and Achievements

The clinic maintains 15 regenerative medicine provision plans notified to the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW). It holds a government-licensed Cell Processing Center (CPC) license. The facility is also accredited by JCI and FACS.

Healthcare Business Review APAC named the facility the Top Regenerative Medicine Solution in APAC. Medical Director Dr. Yuichi Wakabayashi is a Diplomate of the American Board of Regenerative Medicine. He has performed over 3,000 stem cell treatments. Dr. Wakabayashi completed research training at the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH).

The clinic maintains academic collaborations to inform its cell culture protocols. A case report from the clinic was published in an international medical journal. Prof. Takahiro Ochiya, an expert in exosome biology, serves as an academic partner. This partnership focuses on extracellular vesicle signaling and stem cell potency.

Regenerative Medicine Specialties

The clinic provides structured treatment pathways for chronic and age-related conditions. Each plan uses freshly cultivated cells rather than off-the-shelf products. Primary specialties include:

  • Endocrinology and Vascular Health: Treatment for diabetes, prediabetes, and arteriosclerosis.
  • Orthopedics: Non-surgical regeneration for knee joint disorders and osteoarthritis.
  • Neurology: Regenerative protocols for Alzheimer's disease and chronic pain.
  • Men's and Women's Health: Plans for erectile dysfunction and menopausal disorders.
  • Dermatology and Aesthetics: Autologous fibroblast transplants for skin changes and hair loss (AGA).

For erectile dysfunction, the clinic uses intracavernous injections or IV infusions. These target vascular inflammation and endothelial dysfunction. Hair loss treatments involve microinjecting cultured cells directly into the scalp. Surplus cells can be cryopreserved, so patients avoid repeat fat harvesting.

Cell Processing and Technology

The clinic uses a pharmaceutical-grade cleanroom for cell cultivation. Specialists expand harvested cells over approximately 5–7 weeks. Typical doses reach 100–200 million cells per treatment. The facility targets a 95% viability rate and 98% purity for all cultured products.

Quality testing occurs at multiple checkpoints during cultivation. Testing covers sterility, viability, mycoplasma, and endotoxin release criteria. The laboratory follows ISCT-standard surface marker verification to confirm mesenchymal stem cell identity. This means each batch meets rigorous safety and potency requirements.

The clinic uses nanoPDS® technology specifically for NMN therapy. Exosome therapy focuses on early-passage stem cells to maintain high bioactivity. All cell processing involves real-time monitoring by aseptic-technique-certified specialists. This controlled environment reduces risks during cell handling and expansion.

Services for International Patients

International care begins with a 60-minute online video consultation with Dr. Wakabayashi. He personally reviews each enquiry to determine eligibility and dosing. Patients then follow a two-visit on-site schedule in Osaka. English and Mandarin Chinese interpreters are available during visits.

The first visit takes approximately 30 minutes for adipose tissue harvesting. Surgeons use local anesthesia to collect a small tissue sample. Same-day options like PRP or exosome therapy are available during this initial trip. The second visit occurs after cultivation for the IV infusion or targeted injection.

Post-treatment support includes remote follow-up at 1, 3, and 6 months. These sessions occur via video call or email to monitor recovery. Patients can also reach the medical team through WhatsApp for ongoing questions. All records remain accessible to support continuity of care across borders.

My daughter and I are both undergoing stem cell therapy for skin rejuvenation and diabetes treatment. We consulted with medical institutions in Tokyo, but a friend recommended Dr. Wakabayashi, and we were able to see him. He listened to us attentively and carefully, and we were very satisfied. While the effects of medical treatment vary from person to person, I am more than satisfied with the results.

As a type 2 diabetes patient, I have struggled for years with the side effects of medication and have been searching for a more long-term solution. After speaking with my doctor, I learned about stem cell therapy as a possible option that could help address the condition more fundamentally. I was not comfortable with treatments using animal-derived or donor stem cells, so I spent a lot of time researching different options. In the end, I decided to undergo self-derived stem cell therapy in Japan, which felt much safer and more reassuring to me. Before traveling to Japan, I had an online consultation with Dr. Wakabayashi. He was very kind and patient, and he took the time to clearly explain the treatment process and what I could realistically expect, which gave me a lot of confidence. I traveled all the way from the United States to Japan, and although the journey was long, I was very happy to finally meet Dr. Wakabayashi in person. This month, he personally performed the fat tissue collection procedure for me. Everything went very smoothly, and his skill and attention to detail were truly impressive. I felt well cared for throughout the entire experience. I am now waiting for my stem cell treatment in two months and feel very hopeful about the results. I am grateful for the professionalism, high safety standards, and attentive care provided by this clinic, and I would highly recommend it to anyone considering stem cell therapy.

I was suffering from chronic pain, especially shoulder pain and pain from a herniated disc in my lower back, which was interfering with my daily life. I received stem cell therapy via IV here, and I'm surprised at how much better I feel than I expected. The doctor is a specialist with deep knowledge, and the initial explanation was thorough. They answered all my anxieties and questions clearly and concisely. There was no pressure to undergo treatment, and they clearly explained the benefits and drawbacks, so I felt at ease. The clinic was clean, and the staff were calm and helpful. I think anyone suffering from chronic pain should consider consulting them.

The exosome and NMN drips were fantastic. I really appreciated the attention to quality control — it's something Japan truly excels at. They also showed me some before-and-after photos of facial exosome treatments, which made me want to try it for my face next time. I went with two friends, and the staff were warm and welcoming the entire time.

I’ve been struggling with shoulder and knee pain for a while, and nothing seemed to work. A friend recommended Cell Grand Clinic, so I decided to give it a try. The clinic has a very clean and welcoming atmosphere, and the staff were friendly and professional. I tried the exosome infusion for the first time, and the whole process was relaxing and painless. Surprisingly, even after just one treatment, I felt like the tension in my shoulder and knee had slightly eased the next day. I understand results can vary from person to person, but I was happy to notice even a small improvement. I’ll keep monitoring how things progress and might share an update if I notice more changes.
