What GHA certification means – and what it does not

It means:

  • An independent body checked how we select and monitor partner clinics, communicate with patients, protect personal data and manage risk.
  • You get a personal coordinator from your first question until a year after treatment.
  • Our service is free for patients – clinics pay our commission, and prices come directly from the clinic.

It does not mean:

  • GHA certifies Bookimed's own services, not each hospital. Clinics hold their own accreditations, such as JCI or ISO. Clinical decisions and treatment results remain the clinic's responsibility.

How we check a clinic before adding it

  1. 1

Documents and qualifications. Our medical coordinators check doctors' education, experience, licenses, certificates and membership in professional associations. For the clinic, they check international accreditations such as JCI or ISO, equipment, laboratories, treatment protocols, services for international patients – coordinator, interpreter, transfer, accommodation – and reviews on independent platforms.

  2. 2

Visit. When possible, a coordinator visits the clinic in person and assesses its facilities and how it works. The results of the visit are documented.

  3. 3

Contract and approval. The clinic signs a cooperation agreement, and Bookimed management approves it. Only then does the clinic appear on Bookimed. We keep monitoring each clinic through patient reviews and complaints. If a clinic no longer meets our standards, we suspend cooperation or remove it.

If something goes wrong

You can raise a complaint with your coordinator, through our contact page, or by email at care@bookimed.com. We confirm that we received it, investigate, propose a solution and keep you updated. If the coordinator cannot resolve the issue, it goes to the department head and then to senior management. This covers our service, communication, travel logistics and payments. Questions about treatment results and clinical decisions are handled by the clinic.

After you return home

For up to a year after treatment, you can contact your coordinator by phone, email or messenger. The coordinator helps with side effects, unexpected situations and medical questions, contacts the clinic when needed, and can arrange an online consultation with the doctor who treated you. Within a week after treatment, we contact you to ask about your experience.

“Achieving GHA's Medical Travel Facilitator Certification reflects Bookimed's dedication to strengthening operational processes, enhancing transparency, and aligning its services with internationally recognized best practices. We congratulate Bookimed's leadership and team for their commitment to the safety and well-being of their clients.”
